Majestic Souls & Pleasant Times dtla cocktail of the week:

he dreamy allure of Downtown Los Angeles is brilliant, almost intoxicating, in its design composed of endless and shining avenues, countless shops, eateries and every form of venue that the entertainment world of this bustling and beautiful metropolis has to offer.

POMEGRANATE MOJITO

If one should happen to be near Flower and 7th, perhaps seeking a potent cocktail buzz, stopping by 10e Restaurant would be a good decision. Its structure is built on a foundation of class, almost translucent in its peaceful interior and architectural design. Armenian and Lebanese food, by far some of the greatest cuisine to come out of The Middle East, is offered at this excellent restaurant which is definitely worth a visit. Oh, don’t expect to have an easy time choosing from their long list of exquisite cocktail and phenomenal libations either. The service is of the highest order, top notch, almost as if the hosts and genial bartenders were welcoming one back for the fifth, maybe tenth visit. It won’t really register as one will most likely remain mesmerized by the dining room’s vast and fantastic ambiance. These guys know how to mix hospitality and camaraderie perhaps like only those of Armenian heritage so seamlessly can. Even their darn iced coffee is great. If one leaves with enough sober sense, after having strong drinks that will leave one craving for more, try not to forget its location. This could happen to you. It happened to us after DTLA Cocktail of the Week Cocktail mixer where we showcased the Pomegrante Mojito.

10E is a pristine dining experience nestled and thriving within the inner city. Yet, once inside its cozy and demure walls, all recollection of life outside its premises will vanish. Look at how much has been expounded upon already and there has been not one mention of the food. There is no point. The piece would never end. These guys know how to mix hospitality and camaraderie perhaps like only those of Armenian heritage so seamlessly can. So be brazen and bold, as the saying goes, luck favors such majestic Souls, and simply walk in to learn about all the hype for oneself. There is an absolute certitude of not only being satisfied with one’s time within its grand halls but almost overwhelmed with a sense of glee and respect at the level and commitment of professionalism that every employee in that special place has to offer. Whether one is ending a long day at the office, or simply getting a long night of revelry and celebration started, 10e Restaurant is a place one cannot fail to visit. Genatset!

10 GREAT PLACES FOR HALLOWEEN AND THE GHOULS THAT GO WITH THEM - BY KERI FREEMAN

FOR HALLOWEEN 10 GREAT PLACES:

F

and the ghouls that go with them

inally, Halloween is here. This year Downtown shows off its sexy side as thousands kick off the holiday festivities the best way they know how, as someone totally different. If Downtown has anything to say about it, this Halloween will be even spookier than the last, with plenty of sinful delights, bare skin, hard drinks, and sexy dance floor experiences. Here’s a list of our top ten Halloween Parties and the Spooks that go with them.

10. Boulet Brothers @Globe Theater - Saturday, October 27th

DTLA’s favorites Drag-ulas, The Boulet Brothers, are back at the Globe this year. Whether you’re gay, straight or whatever, here’s is a chance to ascend from the norm, beyond the realm of your inhibitions within their tri-leveled Haunted Disco. Stemming from New York’s underground gay scene the two single-handedly bridged the gap between what was ordinary, and what is now extraordinary when it comes to the art of Drag in Los Angeles. Dracmorda Boulet and Swanthula Boulet have been presenting the “darkest parts of DRAG, that will leave you longing for a taste of their poly-sexual debauchery.” The Globe Theater - 740 S Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90014.

9. Danny Trejo @LA Comic Con Friday, October 26th - 28th

Chop it up with DTLA’s favorite machete-wielding taco maker and humanitarian, Danny Trejo. LA Comic Con is back, hosting the absolute best comic book fan convention this Halloween weekend. How lucky is Downtown to have such an awesome venue, fully equipped to house the world’s most beloved superheroes and their memorabilia? It doesn’t stop there. Legends who have worked on the illustrations, concepts, and scripts will also attend, alongside the voices and TV actors that have dawned the uniforms to heed the call to fight for justice and the American way. LA Convention Center - 1201 S Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90015.

8. Time Traveling Meieran @ Clifton’s Cafeteria - Saturday, October 27th

Leave it to DTLA time traveler, Andrew Meieran, to turn a post-depression mess hall of charity and Christian worship into a modern-day den of sensual pleasure, complete with five levels of themed-bars and live vintage jazz shows. Top it all off with the finest of burlesque acts as if they were the sweet whipping cream originally made to accompany Clifton’s famous green Jell-O. Meieran’s taxidermy wonderland quickly became one of Downtown’s favorites when it re-opened in 2015 and this year’s The Haunting promises to leave us with more treasured memories. Clifton’s Cafeteria - 648 S Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90014.

7. The Mummy @Lucha Vavoom Halloween Madness October 24-25th

VOL 10 NO 12 - OCT 25TH - OCT 31ST 2018/ DTLA-WEEKLY.COM

Sex and violence have never been more enticing as Lucha Vavoom reigns supreme as Downtown’s favorite night for raunchy entertainment. Strap on, buckle up and hold on tight for this unpredictable interactive stage show, complete with beautiful women (both male and female), Luchadores, midgets, villains, and comedic show hosts all situated at the center of Club Mayan’s ancient temple. Lucha Vavoom’s coliseum thunder is loud enough to wake up the mummies of the Mayan Tombs. Let’s just hope mummies can wrestle. The show is now in its 15th year and is well-seasoned guaranteeing a good time for all. 1038 Hill Street, Los Angeles, CA 90015.

6. Skeletons and Tequila @Figat7th Friday, October 26th

So what if all your skin has fallen off, a few sips of Tequila and no one will notice. Good thing FIGat7th is celebrating Day of the Dead in style. Tequila, music, candy skull face painting and Halloween glamour eyes by MAC Cosmetics will have you looking you’re ghoulish best. Live DJs, including KCRW’s Raul Campos and tequila tasting at Gulp Sushi Alehouse from 11:00 am - 8:00 pm. Fig at 7th - 735 S Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90017.

5. LA Zombie Crawl in the Historic Core Saturday, October 27th

LA Zombie Crawl takes over the streets Saturday, Oct. 27th. Your Zombie survival kit complete with a map of participating bars and nightclubs is a shotgun blast of drink vouchers, discounts and free Halloween welcome shots at select venues.
