SITUATIONS Details of the situations occurring over the 1.5 Km stretch of pipeline. Showing terrain as well as the appearance and disappearance of the pipe above land through sections.

Showing density of green cover on pipeline stretch

Hawkers and a small clearing to play cricket near Rajyotsava Nagar.

Hakers seen on either side of the vehicular crossing near the ISRO layout bus stand

Vehicular crossing .and land used for dumping of uncollected garbage.

Vehicular road passing under pipeline, connecting Kumaraswamy layout and Yelachenahalli.

Purely pedestrian crossing lined by hawkers.

Common activities over the pipeline include  Hawkers (vegetable carts, fruit vendors, Chaat stalls etc.)  Vehicular crossing ( under as well and over the pipes)  Pedestrian trails. (leading to important landmarks eg. Temples)

ANALYSIS part - 1

Land use along pipeline stretch.

Transport Nodes and spines (arterial roads)

 Length : 2.2 km  Stretch : City college to Sarakki market on Kanakpura road.  Proposal : Cable car system.

Proposals map showing location and footprint of stations

Looking at the phase wise extension of the cable car line (scalability of the project) the area of interest expands to cater to a larger neighbourhood and improve accessibility to and from the Mass Transit System (Namma Metro) thereby making the cable car an alternative to the public transport (BMTC) while acting as a feeder system. THE GREEN MILE | URBAN DESIGN | 5

ANALYSIS part - 2 The space – time map analyses walking distances with respect to time at important transport nodes in the neighbourhood ( a 500 m distance can be covered in 5 minutes). The lack of last mile connectivity to the metro stations here, calls for a feeder system.

Space time map

The presence of this system of transport changes the identity of the local neighbourhood. This system can be looked at as a typology for the various areas where it is occurring inn Bangalore (a classical project).
