CAREERS IN HARDWARE A look at HAI’s latest activities in promoting career opportunities in the hardware industry, including attendance at recent careers fairs.
Careers in Hardware
A look at HAI’s recent activities as part of its Careers in Hardware campaign, including its participation in the Worldskills Ireland Careers and Skills fair in Dublin.
Hardware Jobs at Worldskills Ireland
Hardware Association Ireland (HAI) was delighted to attend the Worldskills Ireland careers fair for a second year. The national event took place over three days in mid-September in the RDS Simmonscourt. It successfully promoted apprenticeships, traineeships and other career opportunities in Ireland. The show demonstrated to young people (including 2nd and 3rd level students) and career officers that they are attractive career opportunities in the hardware and builders’ merchant sector. The event saw over 16,000 students meeting employers and industry experts to learn more about trades and professional careers. HAI, along with employers and managers from Murdocks Builders Merchants and the Sanbra Group, who joined the HAI team over the three days, met with many students and careers officers from schools and universities to talk about available jobs and how to get started in the industry. Following this highly successful event, HAI will be working with several careers officers in the coming weeks to present to secondary school students on career opportunities in the industry. HAI members are welcome to get involved.
Upcoming Careers Fairs:
Following the success of the World Skills Ireland careers fair, HAI will be participating in regional 3rd level careers fairs in the coming weeks: • UL Autumn Career Fair - University of Limerick • UCD Science, Engineering & Technology Fair • MTU Careers Fair - Cork Campus
