125TH ANNIVERSARY
GIVING INITIATIVE
2018-19
Then & Now
Message from the Head of School I joined Harker last year with a keen awareness of its history and its mission to bring out the best in our students – in academic, extracurricular and personal domains – so that they can make a positive difference in the world. As head of school, I will continue to steward the school toward the fullest expression of this vision. One key component that helps us to achieve our mission is the philanthropic support of our community. The charitable contributions of our donors each year offer our students robust opportunities inside and outside of the classroom; and in the long term, philanthropy provides much improved facilities and organizational stability for years to come. This last school year we opened the new athletics and performing arts centers on our Saratoga campus. Our entire community will benefit from the use of these wonderful facilities, and we thank our donors for their generosity in supporting this project. In the 2018-19 school year, we will be celebrating Harker’s 125th anniversary. This is a time for us to reflect on the school’s history and what has brought us to this milestone, to feel inspired by Harker’s mission, and to look to the future and what we and our students will achieve. Join us in celebrating this landmark year and, with your gift, help prepare our students for the future! Sincerely,
Brian Yager Head of School

Deciding How Much to Give In honor of Harker’s 125th anniversary, we are asking parents to donate 125% of what you gave to annual giving last year. In other words we ask that you increase your gift by 25%. Donors who do this will be part of the 125% Gift Club. Annual giving is the school’s main effort to raise money for student programs (such as athletics, the arts, technology, library, and much more); it funds our immediate needs as requested by teachers, department heads and the administration. We ask that you make your first and primary gift each year to annual giving. Our phoneathon takes place the week of Sept. 23 when our dedicated Parent T HtoE all parents.
