El Niño Blows thiNgs sidEways
T
he House Finches are doing another fly-by underneath our front porch canopy. But this seemingly attractive parcel of bird nest real estate is too small and well traveled for all who flitter in and flitter out. The warm El Niño winter weather has gotten the birds and the bulbs prematurely roused. But soon another Alberta clipper will put an end to all this February weather dressed in May clothing. El Niño years are like that mysterious east wind that often causes the normal to become the abnormal. Even politics has succumbed to the El Niño effect. Political pundits are speechless when trying to explain Donald Trump’s rise to the top of the Republican heap. Trump is hitting a nerve with a disenchanted electorate. Establishment Republicans keep trying to figure out how to control Trump, but since Donald is using his own money to fund his campaign, there seems to be no leverage. In fact, with most candidates raising their own money, party money seems to no longer be a leash. No matter how short they wish it was. Many believe the Republicans have an opportunity to win back the White House this time around. Looks like they got
Trumped. And the Democrats thought Hillary was a shoe-in until the young people decided to put their idealism behind Bernie. Oh, I remember this feeling from 1972. George McGovern was our man. He was sure to win. No doubt about it. Our hearts told us that McGovern would soon govern. Boom, landslide loss. Who doesn’t want free state college for everyone? And of course I am in favor of health care for everyone. But there’s one problem. It all costs money. Free is rarely free. And taxes are already too high. It’s unlikely the populace will ever support 40-50 per cent taxes in order to get free college or health care for all. Sort of an all-inclusive vacation. One stop shopping. Trouble is, can the government run things better than individuals? It’s the ongoing argument. And in a El Niño year? Oh, boy, an east wind is blowing and the ground hog has his Bermuda shorts on. Donald Trump is sparring with the Pope and the balance of the Supreme Court is, well, in the balance. There’s got to be a novel in all this. Or at least a reality t.v. show or mini-series. We have the cast. Quiet on the set! Action! Speaking of Spring. Our 31st Natural Living Expo is Sunday, March 20 (the first day of Spring). I would like to invite you to join us so we can help you find the resources you need to create a healthier and greener life for you and your family. We will have all sorts of great exhibitors on hand. Take a moment and read the article on page 3, then go to page 5 and cut out your 2 for 1 admission ticket so you can come and bring a friend for free! See you at the expo! g racias, El Niño!

Primordial Sound Meditation
A Program de veloped By de epak Chopra, M.d.
Dr. Deepak Chopra, best selling author and leader in the holistic health field, has revived Primordial Sound Meditation. This ancient form of meditation uses mantras, or Primordial Sounds, which are selected for each individual. This simple mantra technique, which is practiced twice daily, allows our awareness to go beyond the activity of our mind to the stillness of our spirit. This process allows our bodies to gain the deep rest necessary to release stress and fatigue. The result can be improved health, more satisfying relationships, increased creativity, and renewed enthusiasm for life. Primordial Sound Meditation can be learned by people of any age, culture, and educational background. It is recommended for anyone who wishes to enjoy greater peace, freedom and fulfillment. About the Instructor, Shirley Stoll, B.S., M.A. - Shirley has been involved with meditation since 1995 and is certified by Dr. Deepak Chopra as a Primordial Sound Meditation Instructor and affiliated with the Chopra Center in Carlsbad, California. As a former teacher, she combines her love for teaching with her commitment to meditation.

Organic Sofas & Love Seats Now Available at STL Beds
Bringing Old School, Natural Construction Back to Sofas Something’s Missing From Today’s Sofas – the Quality!
W
by Doug Belleville ould you know a good quality sofa if you saw one? The fact is most people wouldn’t. Unfortunately most consumers do not know what to look for and while it may visually look impressive, they shouldn’t expect the piece to stay that way or hold up very long. Most sofas, love seats, armchairs or chaises don’t have a chance to be handed down through your family for generations as a result of poor industry-wide construction. Rather than choosing a couch that will end up on the curb, savvy shoppers need to consider high end, heirloom-quality living room seating. We are going to learn how we can get real value for our hard earned money along with enjoying the pride of passing on a truly loved and treasured piece of furniture to future generations that’s built from the best materials and high quality construction. Shoddy Construction is (Unfortunately) the Norm Most components of sofas and chair construction cannot be seen by the consumer and many contain inferior building materials. These unseen inner workings make a huge difference between pieces of living room furniture that last only a handful of years versus one you can hand down with pride. Today’s standard is for factory assembly to look and feel sturdy to the average consumer, but these impostors, through minimal daily use, will quickly begin to loosen up at joints and wobble and weaken. This speeds up failure of poorly built couch frames and they inevitably come apart. Other common issues include cushions that sag prematurely. This happens for two reasons; low quality polyurethane foam in the cushions and poor quality deck foundations / bases that support the seat cushions. The support decks quickly stretch, tear, and fail to support the seat cushions properly. Additionally annoying squeaks develop from soft weak woods, artificial woods like particle board, cardboard and veneers which are loaded with glue that only add to the problem. The result of all of these shoddy short cuts and low cost substitutions is furniture destined for the trash truck and the landfill. The Best Wood for Sofa Frames A good natural couch begins with solid bones. Think of the frame of your sofa as its skeletal structure. In fact, this framework is what supports the rest of its construction and all who sit on it. A sofa needs to be able to support anyone and everyone of all sizes from the petite, to people that are considered medically overweight. Our family and friends need to be able to sit, play, and rest on that sofa comfortably and do it for years on end. The core of the sofa “the bones” should be sustainably-harvested, locally- grown hardwood so future generations have the same opportunity. Avoid softer woods like pine, plywood, and even particleboard. A very dependable choice for crucial components like feet, legs, and framework is kiln-dried hardwood. Can You “Sit on it” Potsie? The fact is most sofas and couches are not built like they used to be, and if you knew how it was built you probably wouldn’t want to sit on it. Today they are mostly stapled rather than using actual carpentry. But if you want a construction joint to hold,
you just cannot beat the A L’il Dab Of Glue traditional mortise-andWill Do Ya, Or Will It? Modern furniture contenon joint. HealtHy Planet Guide to CSas
(Community Supported Agriculture)
T
by Crystal Stevens La Vista CSA Farm here is a dire need for a shift in the way we source our food. Individuals around the globe are becoming more and more concerned about where their food comes from. Gardens are sprouting up across cities, towns and suburbs. There is a real need for change in our current food system. There are plenty of ways to source local produce, pasture raised meats, farm fresh eggs, and artisan foods. Our region has a plethora of farmers markets, CSA Farms and local grocers to choose from. CSA-Community Supported Agriculture Farms are an excellent way to incorporate fresh local seasonal produce into the weekly diet. In a CSA Farm, members pay up front to help the small farmer with seed and operating costs. Members receive a share of the seasonal harvest each week during the growing season (typically mid May through October. The premise behind Community Supported Agriculture is that members share in both the risks and the benefits with the farmer; they enjoy the surplus and bounty during the great harvests, but also show patience and understanding when a crop failure occurs due to sometimes uncontrollable factors such as weather, plant disease, swarms of insects or wildlife. Members and their families build a relationship with their farmers and deepen their connection to where their food comes from and how it is grown. A CSA box averages between $25 and $55 per week and may include vegetables and herbs. Custom boxes may be built to include local cheese, meats, dry goods and value added products. Supporting localized food systems significantly reduces the carbon foot print by reducing the number of miles that food travels and also circulates funds back into the local economy. Joining a CSA Farm is just one of many ways in
which you can become involved in food issues within your community. You have choices to make in terms of what is right for you and your family. Eating locally shifts your view on food and what to prepare when. Creativity enters the kitchen with heirloom and specialty produce that may make an appearance in your CSA Box throughout a season. It is great to plan ahead; find out what grows locally during each month in your region and ask farmers and neighbors how they prepare their seasonal produce. Check your local Meetups and garden clubs for recipe ideas. Typically, CSA Farms provide a weekly newsletter packed with information about the week’s share which includes recipes and farm happenings. Most farms are on various social media sites, providing recipe ideas and tips for planning ahead. Browse the guide below to see which CSA Farm suits your individual needs. Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food! La Vista Farm Since 2002 Mid May through late October Non GMO seeds Produce is grown using sustainable methods. (No synthetic pesticides! No synthetic Herbicides!) Here at Faith we feel it important to maintain our Montessori philosophy of education over the summer months while mixing in informative topics, arts and crafts, exciting outings, nature walks, and swimming at the Webster University pool. This sets our summer session apart from the regular school year and provides a ‘summer vacation’ feel to the program. Our camp is made up of two week sessions of varying topics. Each session a related field trip is planned and guest speakers give presentations. Come for a wonderful balance of fun, relaxation, and learning! 314-961-1411, Faithacademyofmontessori.org.

Grand Re-opening of InMotion Health Center March 4
P
by Dr. Sharon L. Fitelson
lease join us for the grand re-opening of InMotion Health Center as we have moved, both literally and figuratively! You MUST check out the expanded space and come party with us. Tours, Raffles for awesome prizes, proceeds of treatments to charity, Chair Massage and good food and drink. Spend casual time with the staff and Doctors and get to really know us!!!! Having served the communities of Richmond Heights and Clayton for 36 years, in January of 2016 we relocated to the University Tower across from the Galleria on Brentwood Blvd, suite 300B. We are now even closer to Highways 64-40 and 170 and the Metro Link is a very short walk from our doors! I created InMotion Health Center out of a vision that treating the whole person with a variety of approaches that are integrated for each individual patient, and delivered by a variety of collaborating professionals would afford the greatest results. My vision is that the educated patient will make the greatest strides in attaining whole health and in turn have the tools to maintain that well being. Our recent move to a much larger space affords our InMotion staff the room to grow and at the same time a more efficient flow. Functional Medicine:
A Perfect Approach for Helping Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
A
by Dr. Amy Davis, MD
utism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) has risen dramatically over the last 25 years and the cause remains unclear. It appears there is a genetic predisposition or inherited weakness that is paired with environmental triggers that create ASD. Each child is unique in their genes and environmental influence and their treatment should reflect this. In my experience I have found that there are multiple underlying medical concerns that must be addressed if a child has the potential to recover. Early intervention improves the outcome. Covering up the symptoms with prescription medications alone ignores the underlying and treatable issues which then persist. Functional medicine is a perfect match for working with ASD by treating the underlying factors that are interfering with the healing process. Typical core issues include: • Poor digestion and processing of foods • Dysbiosis and Leaky Gut • Nutrient deficiencies • Food Sensitivities and intolerances • Environmental Allergies • Immune Dysregulation and Inflammation • Persistent pathogens – virus, bacterial, fungal • Impaired ability to detoxify • Toxic Burden • Oxidative Stress • Mitochondrial dysfunction • Autonomic dysregulation which creates an Irritable nervous system that stays in “fight or flight mode” Because of the underlying core issues children
with ASD may also have eczema, asthma, diarrhea, bloating, abnormal stools, constipation, dark circles under eyes, developmental delays, processing problems, low tone, poor coordination, poor growth, sleep disruption, decreased need for sleep, fatigue, hyperactivity, rapid heart rate, heat intolerance, frequent infections and more. Healing begins when you consider what creates the symptoms. In the case of Autism, healing begins in the gut. It is often said you are what you eat but more accurately you are what you eat, digest, absorb and assimilate. Get Started with the 5-R Program • Remove offending foods. Consider a food elimination diet to identify the culprits. Food is fuel and a developing child needs lots of rich nutrients to grow and develop optimally. Provide lots of vegetables and fruits which are rich in phytonutrients. • Replace digestive enzymes and bile acids to support digestion and absorption. • Reinoculate with beneficial bacteria using pre and probiotics, fermented foods and soluble fiber. • Repair the lining of the gut by supplying key nutrients like glutamine, zinc, fish oil and antioxidants. • Rebalance lifestyle choices – sleep, exercise and stress all affect the GI tract. Using Functional Medicine methods I can help you navigate the complex issues associated with Autism Spectrum Disorders to help restore balance and healing. Best of Health! Unscientific Basis of Anti-Aging Program:
M
By Simon Yu, MD
Po wer o f N-o f -2
illions of people are taking medications that will not help them. However, based on clinical trials and scientific statistical analysis, funded by pharmaceutical companies, physicians keep pushing specific drugs. They explain to their patients that the latest medical science proves the need to take the medications for whatever their conditions or ailments and may extend their life. Nature, the International Weekly Journal of Science, April 2015, volume 520, published an article, “Time for One-person Trials. It explained that precision medicine requires a different type of clinical trial that focuses on the individual, not the average, response to therapy (Nicholas J. Schork). For some drugs, according to Schork, such as statin drugs routinely used to lower cholesterol, as few as 1 in 50 people may actually benefit from their use. There are many drugs that are harmful to certain ethnic groups because of the bias towards white Western participants in the classical trials. Physicians need to take individual variability into account. Therefore, the Precision Medicine Initiative was announced in 2015. This initiative includes, among other actions, the establishment of a national database of the genetic and other data of one million people and focuses on a single person, known as Nof-1 trials. To create N-of-1 trials, according to the article, all sorts of relevant data need to be collected for one person over a prolonged period. The article also addresses the difficulty in designing a control study and the enormous cost of creating databases which include genomic DNA, RNA, microbiome data, metabolomes, and more. The Precision Medicine Initiative is trying to design a true single person “Individualized Medicine approach to healing. Its methodology is based on mega databases, an example of which is matching drugs to specific tumor profiles for a better clinical outcome. A major advantage of the N-of-1 approach over classical trials is that patients are no longer guinea pigs. At least, that is the main goal, with physicians being aware of the unique circumstance of each patient, that is, the unique individuality of the illness as it pertains to a single person. From my point of view, one of the best N-of-1 trials is done by a family physician who takes care of the same patients over 30-50 years of their career. However, the current managed care and insurance business models dictate changes to a person’s family physician at any time based on insurance contracts. Therefore, N-of-1 individualized medicine is almost impossible. The power of the family physician observing and taking care of the same patient over a prolonged period, the true power of N-of-1 doctorpatient relationship, is replaced by mega databases of statistical analysis of people as groups, not individuals, by our government and insurance companies. The idea of the N-of-1 trial concept can apply to any individual circumstance. For example, let’s apply it to an anti-aging program. Over the last 30 years, the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) became the fastest growing medical organization focusing on the extension, and quality, of the life span (anti-aging). The organization focuses on the application of advanced scientific and medical technologies for the early detection, prevention, and reversal of age-related dysfunction and related diseases. The A4M organization has been a leader in hormone replacement therapies and regenerative medicine. It has also has been branching into many other related fields including, to my surprise, Energy Medicine. I had the opportunity to give a lecture on
“Parasites and Energy Medicine in a small room at their conference a couple years ago. The large auditorium was reserved mainly for hormone replacement therapy lectures. In my lecture, I told the audience that regular “de-worming with common parasite medications plus routine dental care, without root canals, implants, or mercury amalgams, might be the best anti-aging program you can have. Even better than hormone replacements, stem cell therapy, or trying to modify telomeres. Using the word “de-worming is based on one of my patients who is a horse breeder. She finds it interesting that I am prescribing her “horse medications, for example, Ivermectin and Praziquantel, for her unexplainable medical symptoms. She is giving these same parasite medications to her horses. We started talking about horses and their life span. According to her, in the old days, the average life span of horses used to be around twenty plus years. Now, with modern veterinary dental care and routine de-worming two to four times a year, these horses live easily over 40 years. That is doubling the life span simply by regular de-worming and routine dental care! In that prestigious American Academy of AntiAging conference, most of the audience took my statement, that the best anti-aging program might be routine de-worming and dental care, with chuckles and skepticism. I also gave a similar lecture at the Medicine Week Conference in Baden Baden, Germany two years ago and received similar responses. At that Medicine Week Conference, I met one of the founders of the A4M organization. I told him about my hypothesis, based on the truly un-scientific anti-aging program of routine de-worming and dental care, that we may extend the human life span, from an average of 75-80 years to 120-150 years, if the horse breeder’s story is true. He was interested and wanted evidence and data to back up my statement, not just a tall story. The above is my un-scientific basis of an antiaging program. It is based on one horse breeder’s experience with extending the life span of horses and pondering the power of N-of-1. If any readers have any experiences of extending the life span of horses (and humans) based on using parasite medications and dental care, let me hear about it. That will be the power of “N-of- 2. Imagine yourself as a race horse and choose your parasite medications and dentist wisely. Those of you, who might be interested in learning how to measure the subtle energy fields with Acupuncture Meridian Assessment (AMA) and how to detect parasites and hidden dental problems, in order to practice “N-of-1 Individualized Medicine, check my web site for a special training. Two independent sessions of AMA training are scheduled for March 18-20th and August 26-28th, 2016. This training is designed for MD, DO, and DDS. Dr. Simon Yu, M.D. is a Board Certified Internist. Smoldering and Radioactive West Lake Landfill Update
Representatives from the Missouri Coalition for the Environment, Just Moms STL, Franciscan Sisters of Mary, Central Reform Congregation, and Center for Health, Environment, and Justice traveled to Washington D.C. to support the efforts of our federally elected officials including Senators Roy Blunt and Claire McCaskill.
subsurface fire continues to smolder approximately 1,000 feet from known areas of radioactive wastes at the West Lake Landfill in St. Louis County. The St. Louis County Department of Health (DOH) is moving forward with a health survey for a randomly selected group of people who live within a two mile radius of the landfill focusing on respiratory issues. The DOH will be the first government agency to directly evaluate the health of people living close to the landfill. Contact the DOH at Westlake-Bridgeton.doh@stlouis.com with any questions. Attorney General Koster continues to pursue a three-year-old lawsuit against the landfill owner, Republic Services, related to the smoldering fire. Republic Services requested a change of venue to federal court, which has caused a delay of several months. The Attorney General recently released reports related to the lawsuit indicating that radioactivity was found near the West Lake Landfill at offsite locations. In February, Attorney General Koster announced
his support for transferring the jurisdiction of the radioactive wastes from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to the Army Corps of Engineers’ specialized nuclear waste cleanup program called the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP). The Corps is currently in St. Louis cleaning up nuclear wastes from the Manhattan Project; the same type of waste that was dumped at West Lake. The news from Attorney General Koster came one week after Senators Blunt and McCaskill were able to successfully pass a bill they sponsored through the Senate which would put the Corps in charge of the cleanup of radioactive wastes. Congressman Clay, Congresswoman Wagner, and Congressman Luetkemeyer are sponsoring identical legislation in the House of Representatives, and are currently working to get the bill to the President’s desk. Follow the latest updates on the smoldering and radioactive West Lake Landfill at the Missouri Coalition for the Environment website www.moenvironment.org.

WELL-Being in the Workplace
By Abigail Adams, USGBC-Missouri Gateway Chapter Education Committee
A
s sustainable practices become more prevalent in the design and construction of buildings, the art of green building continues to evolve. While strategies centered on resource efficiency and waste minimization remain at the core of green building, there is a growing focus on occupants’ physical and mental well-being. Grounded in the increasing recognition that many elements of building design surpass physical construction and have direct effects on building occupants, a new building standard has entered the market which brings these concerns to the forefront. The WELL Building Standard, pioneered by Delos, is the first building design standard to focus primarily on the health and well-being of a building’s occupants during and after construction. The standard is the result of seven years of research by doctors, building designers, and scientists working in partnership with the Mayo Clinic. WELL is a holistic approach to keep building users healthy and engaged in their workplace. Health and well-being are not considered scheduled occurrences, but rather are incorporated into the daily routines of building occupants. The standard is composed of seven categories: air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort, and mind. In each category, there are required preconditions and optimizations that contribute to a point total for a certification level. Examples of strategies include central placement of stairs to encourage their use, the incorporation of flexible sit to stand workstations and ancillary furniture, access to clean drinking water, limiting processed foods, reduction
of visual glare, policies to limit after hours work, offering counseling services, sound masking, and strategic use of plants and good aesthetics throughout a space. One thing that I find most striking about the WELL standard is that after certification, the space will be reevaluated in three years’ time to ensure that it is still meeting original qualification levels. A project can move up or down through the certification levels if well-being and health aspects were improved upon or were not maintained. This building standard holds the design team and owners accountable to continually maintain a healthy workplace over time. Research by Delos and others who have implemented the standard has shown that through the promotion of well-being in the workplace, employee stress decreases and productivity increases. Each precondition and optimization in the standard evaluates which human body system would be affected, truly linking the realms of medical and architectural research. The importance of human health and well-being is finally being recognized as a game changer in the green building sector because of the impact on employers, the impact on company productivity, and most importantly, the impact on employees. As a designer, I am excited to see the potential paradigm shifts that will be brought on by the WELL Building Standard, as the value of human capital is brought to the forefront of the sustainable building industry. Join the USGBC-Missouri Gateway Chapter to learn more about how the built environment impacts health and well-being and the WELL Building Standard at two events featuring Jessica Cooper, Executive Vice President at Delos, March 8 and 9. More information is available online at our website www.usgbc-mogateway.org/calendar.

Hands in Soil - Hands in Clay
L
by Linda Wiggen Kraft
isten closely, the very stuff we walk upon named earth calls to us. There is a calling from soil that brings gardener’s hands into the dirt to grow a garden. There is a calling from clay that brings potter’s and clay artist’s hands into the dirt to transform it into objects that become part of daily life. I can’t resist both callings, so when my hands aren’t digging in garden soil, they are in the clay studio playing and creating with clay. I once heard the term “earth whisperer.” It is a name all gardeners and clay artists could be called. The term should be “earth listener and earth whisperer.”
There is much to learn from both listening and whispering to soil and clay.
Part of earth listening is learning from others, books and online. From those sources we learn that garden soil has structure and ingredients of worn down rocks, sand, clay, organic and other matter. Garden soil allows roots,
Hamsa-Hands-Ceramics by Linda Wiggen Kraft fungi, microorganisms, worms and other life to grow. Clay for pottery has its own chemical ingredients and structure that allows it to be worked from a soft malleable form to a hard object transformed by heat and fire. Earth whispering with soil and clay takes place when hands, heart and head come into
physical contact. Touching, observing and working with these materials lets us help the inert matter come alive. Soil and clay get on our hands, under our fingernails and on our clothes. This touching brings us to those perfect moments of being one with earth. We are made of the stuff of earth. Nutrients from soil, water and sun are absorbed by a plant’s roots and body. We eat those nutrients and they are absorbed into our bodies. We create with clay and bring those objects into our life as we eat and drink off of them and adorn our home and gardens as well. Soil and clay have been intimate partners with humans as humans changed from huntergatherers to settled farmers. The need for containers and vessels grew as the culture of growing food also grew. Archeology reveals the evolution of potters along with farming. This ancient relationship continues today with the
call to gardening and a call to create in clay. If you are a gardener and miss hands in soil in the colder months, try your hand at hands in clay. Let yourself be an earth listener and whisperer in more ways than one. At the Healthy Planet Expo March 20, I will be answering gardening questions and selling some of my clay creations, mandala coloring books and more. arefree, low water needs, evergreen, deer and rabbit resistant, weed smothering groundcovers, exquisite and unique flowers and foliage, exotic-looking yet long lived perennials, stunning in containers...and the list goes on. As you can see the many outstanding qualities of these jewels have made succulents highly sought after plants. Easily grown indoors or out, try these plants in sunny dry areas, or in mixed pots outdoors. Add an artistic element inside your home with a few potted into a fun container. Here's the plants you need to know: • Blue Elf s edora. Our 2016 Succulent of Year due to its steel blue tufted rosettes and its profuse, heavily fragrant pink flowers with a scent that reminds many of grape soda. Its blue foliage gives it a tropical look, yet it is very hardy. It makes an excellent groundcover, and combines beautifully with other succulents for striking containers and gardens. • Lime Twister s tonecrop, s edum. Bring explosive color to landscapes and containers with this jewel. Thick apple green foliage is edged in creamy white and topped with hot pink flowers. This low-growing groundcover works wonderful in masses, and mixed with other suc-
culents in troughs and patio containers. • r ock 'n r oll r osette, Hen & Chicks, pictured. One of the most colorful selections of Sempervivum, Rock 'n Roll brings rich hues and luscious texture to gardens and containers. Gorgeous rosettes are made up of deep orange to wine red, pointy leaves flushed with apple green at the base. It makes a fabulous show in the garden and in containers indoors or outside. • Dazzleberry s tonecrop. A fantastic low-growing Sedum, Dazzleberry carpets the garden with smoky blue-gray foliage and large, deep raspberry flowers. It huge flowers completely cover the foliage in late summer and fall. Butterflies and other pollinators always visit its nectar rich blossoms. It makes a great evergreen groundcover. It thrives on neglect, showing its best colors when grown in dry areas in full sun. Succulents are easily grown in average, welldrained soil in full sun. They will tolerate light shade, drought and high heat. Succulents thrive in sandy to gravely soil with average fertility. Succulents grown in rich soils or too much shade will become weak, floppy plants. pring around St. Louis sprouts both Good News, that first refreshing flush of green, and Bad News: almost all the early leaves we see will be on only one terribly invasive species, Bush Honeysuckle. Sure it’s pretty, with snowy flowers, scarlet berries and bright leaves. But this is a plant way too far out of its natural place. In its own native Asian environments, insects and other plants keep Bush Honeysuckle (Lonicera maackii) growing in balance. Here’s The Reason You’re Fat... Local Author Publishes New Book by Dr. Raj Banerjee, DC
T
he reason you can’t lose weight has nothing to do with your willpower, over-eating or the Right Diet!... The Reason you are fat and unhealthy is because you have disgusting plaque and horrible little ‘CRITTERS’ living in your guts! This is harmful Plaque (below) - Everybody has it. But to keep from getting sick and to be able to maintain a healthy body weight you MUST get rid of it now! If you don't, it will eventually cause you to not be able to lose weight (regardless of how much you diet and exercise!) and eventually it will kill you! These are harmful Parasites (right) Everybody has them. If left to live and breed inside your stomach, small and large intestines and colon, they will eventually cause you to puff up, gain lots of weight, get sick more often, and take many, many years off your life! They use your body as a 'Food Storehouse' and so they can live and breed by the millions. But now it's time to flush them out and down the toilet for good. If you don't they will just make you fatter and much, much sicker! Would you trust anything living in your bowels that has teeth but NO eyes? It makes sense that if diets were really meant to work then you'd hear more and more stories of people who used them successfully.
But that's NOT what you hear at all! Instead, all you hear about are your friends complaining that they've been starving themselves to death -- yet still have trouble losing a single pound! The main reason this is so is because dangerous parasites living inside their guts (and even YOURS!) excrete chemicals (waste products) that travel to your brain and tell your "hypothalamus" to make you store more and more fat for THEM to eat! In other words, these parasites are making you a GIANT 'food factory' for THEM to eat! Imagine how easy it is to get this one parasite alone! It's in poorly cooked fish and actually lays eggs inside your bowels. (You know this is true or else why do we always say "close the lid on the toilet" to keep our pets safe from drinking parasiteladen water?) Even your bladder is not safe from harmful parasites that lay 10,000s of eggs! ... Parasites can even become "mineralized" and block your body's ability to absorb nutrition properly! ... These little critters are no joke! They are DEADLY! Not only can they hurt you while they are alive inside your guts, but they can die and then become mineralized (just like a fossil!) and cause painful swelling, blockages and other harmful things. But enough of grossing you out -- I'd rather just cut to the chase and tell you of my upcoming FREE “Take Control of Your Health Seminar”. Call our office for our next seminar date, 314-282-3990.

“Digested” Eating Healthier Made Easier 3 Ways
She’ll Be Selling and Signing Her New Book At The Healthy Planet Expo March 20 In Webster Groves
I
n February, local author Natalie Gensits delivered her first batch of healthier snacks to 240 students at Wilkinson Early Childhood Center. She is funding the snacks with proceeds from sales of her book about eating healthier in an effort to help activate healthier eating, too. She is working with City Greens Market and Gateway Garlic Urban Farm to secure such a large amount of organic sugar snap peas. Gensits recently published Digested – eating healthier made easier 3 ways, a how-to guide embellished with personal stories. The book offers label explanations, food issues, shopping lists and three different levels of eating healthier based upon her experiences as an allergy-prone, working mom. Ongoing, she will donate a portion of proceeds to various organizations to help put healthier eating into action, too. Currently, she is donating proceeds to Wilkinson Early Childhood Center, where the staff is passionate about teaching kids to eat healthier and to get plenty of physical exercise. “This healthy snack will be a great tie-in as we highlight First Lady Obama and her Let’s Move initiative during American Heart and Black History Month,” remarked Yvette Levy, Principal at Wilkinson ECC.
Gensits has also launched a supporting website and Facebook page for her book. Both provide helpful information about how to eat healthier and encourage kids to do the same. “Everyday, my kids remind me that they are mirror images of their parents or caretakers – sometimes it makes me smile and other times it horrifies me,” comments Gensits. “They are so eager to learn. It seems like a huge mistake to let them grow up thinking we can eat whatever we want while allergies, hyperactivity and disease get more rampant. My book and website share my mistakes and lessons learned so others can take a shorter road to better health than I have.” Digested relates especially to moms trying to juggle many tasks, but individuals of all ages can benefit from the suggestions and information in it. Gensits hopes to help other organizations educate and activate healthier eating through her book and contributions. Digested – eating healthier made easier 3 ways was first published in late 2015 by Orange Goodness, LLC, owned by author Natalie (Bassett) Gensits. Wife and mother of two, Gensits works in the advertising industry and feels passionate about helping others eat healthier through education and action. For more information you can visit online at www.amazon.com/dp/0996892109, http://digestedbook.com, and https://www.facebook.com/digestedbook. ound therapist Pati Pellerito and Native American Flutist Mark Holland have just released a new CD titled Dreamwalker. The new CD features Himalayan Singing Bowls, Planetary Gongs and other sound therapy instruments along with a variety of wood flutes. There will be a CD release concert April 9 at The Chapel, 6238 Alexander Dr, St. Louis, MO 63105. Pati Pellerito is a licensed massage therapist in practice since 1994, and certified in sound healing since 2008. Her experience with sound as a healing modality extends back to 1999 through the use of mantra and my studies in Kototama Medicine (Japanese Naturopathic Medicine) where sounds are considered a foundational component. She studied with Dr. Thomas Duckworth at Natural Life Therapy in Creve Coeur. Her initial study of Himalayan Singing Bowls began with Suren Shrestha, a Nepalese master of 'sound work", then continuing on to The International Sound Therapy Conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It was there that she met Fabian Maman who teaches Kototama Medicine using acoustic instruments, this was a real turning point for her in her sound practice. She then completed a gong master training program with Don Conreaux in Feb. 2015, a direct student of Yogi Bhajan. Pellerito and Holland hold group sound healing sessions which begin with an insight meditation, simply sitting with awareness of the present moment, feeling and sensing into the body. “Easing any tension or discomfort in the body by utilizing the breath and gentle movement (qi gong style) as we prepare to lie back and allow the sounds and harmonies to wash through our body,” she explained. By drawing upon years of experience in working with individuals in a healing setting, Pellerrio says "there is a sensitivity that comes in reading the group dynamic and tuning into the collective energy. While the foundation is there in the healing protocol, I feel its important to know your instruments, how they sound and what they offer and at the same time allow yourself to become a vessel for divinity to flow through. By deep listening, dropping into the space and tapping into
the group energy, magic happens." Mark Holland, musician extraordinaire and Pati Pellerito have been in collaboration for the past year. His Native American style flutes range from sub bass that offer grounding, to small buffalo horn flute and in-between. Mark weaves beautiful melodies throughout the soundscape. Sounds of Himalayan Singing Bowls, Planetary Gongs, many other percussive and acoustic instruments offer nutrition for the neurological system as well as medicine for the soul. “Many describe this experience as transportive, a sense of deep peace and rejuvenation,” Pellerito said. “Many feel relief from pain that may they carried in with them. Many say the sounds seem to "go to areas of the body" that were feeling tense or discomfort before the session. While this is not a "cure all" and there are no guarantees about how a sound session will appear for you, it never ceases to amaze me how powerful this sound work is.” Every third Saturday of the month Pati holds a sound meditation at Big Bend Center Yoga studio. Their new CD, "Dreamwalker", produces a very dream-like experience, offering you an opportunity to surrender to the sounds, feeling free to explore the corners of your mind, surfing the edge of perception and then return safely where you began, but perhaps with slightly different perspective. “Mark and I will be performing the Dreamwalker cd. So everyone should expect to see & hear about 20 Himalayan singing bowls and Planetary gongs and other instruments used for sound therapy along with a variety of native American style flutes and other wood flutes. Joining us will be two very special guests.; Cory Edwards, a wonderful pianist and Vesna Delevska, who will be painting a new work on stage throughout the evening,” Pellerito said. For additional information please visit online at www.healingbowlsandgongs.com and www.autumnschild.com CD Release Party, April 9 at The Chapel, 6238 Alexander Drive Clayton, MO 63105 7pm. HERB LADY
How Important Is My pH Level?
Cathy Schram
Q: How important is it to test my pH? Should I test my urine or my saliva? A: It is very important to test your pH (potential of hydrogen). This should be the foundation of your health-building program. It is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. The lower the pH number, the more acidic the solution is. The higher a pH number, the more alkaline the solution is. Are you suffering from any of the following: cardiovascular weakness, weight gain, bladder and kidney problems, joint discomfort, brittle bones or low energy? You may have a condition called acidosis which is high acidity in the body. A person on the other end of the scale would be considered “alkaline”, high alkaline in the body. Symptoms would include digestive system slugginess, intestinal system concerns, respiratory system compromise, urinary system weakness or nervous system exhaustion. By using a saliva and/or urine pH test kit, a person can monitor their pH balance. The best time to test your saliva and/or urine is first thing in the morning, before teeth are brushed or any food or liquid is consumed. Ideal pH readings range between 6.4 and 7.3 on the scale. The lower the number, the more acidic the solution is. The higher the number, the more alkaline the solution is. Your urine pH indicates how well your body is assimilating minerals, especially calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium. These are called the “acid buffers” because they are used by the body to control acid levels. When acid levels increase, the body becomes less capable of excreting acid so it stores it in the body tissues or borrows minerals

from the organs, bones, etc. in order to neutralize the acid. Results of saliva pH testing indicate the ability of digestive enzymes in your body; especially the activity of the liver and stomach. This reveals the flow of enzymes running through your body and shows their effect on all the body systems. The body continually strives to balance pH. It is important to remember that food shapes the pH environment. What goes into the mouth impacts where pH will fall. That, in turn, will impact every metabolic function in your body. Our cells will extract nutrients from the blood only when the correct pH ratio is maintained. You must keep the balance right for optimum health. When there is sickness, we can get well only when the blood is restored to a normal, slightly alkaline pH. Depending upon your reading, corrections can be made by changing your diet, adding enzymes, calcium or other minerals. Go to your health food store today and pick up a pH testing kit. Smoking Cessation • Overeating Stress Reduction • Pain Issues & More
eople come to our office looking for answers and a different healthcare model. Most are looking for the “why.” Some of the common questions are: Why do I feel the way I feel? Why did I become sick? Why aren’t I getting better? Why hasn’t anything helped? Why can’t anyone figure out what is wrong with me? While each patient is unique in their complaints, backgrounds, and circumstances, they all seem to share the realization that the current disease model of healthcare is not working for them and they want something different. In order to answer the “why,” we begin by asking “what” questions, such as: What brought you to us? What have you tried in the past? What are you doing currently? What has not worked? We find that by answering some “what” questions we are better able to meet our patients’ expectations and provide answers and solutions to their concerns. Part of our philosophy is that if something has been tried before and it didn’t work, it is likely not going to work if we try it again, so why not do something different? Why not find the cause? If you are sick and/or don’t feel well, there is a cause and I promise you that the disease itself is not the cause. The cause is whatever made the disease manifest itself in the first place. Health cannot and
will not return simply by managing a disease. A person’s health returns only when the cause of the disease is properly identified and adequately addressed. This is where we like to separate ourselves from others. So how does someone find out what caused the condition to manifest? This is the area where our clinic focuses its attention. Most diseases have their causes rooted in things such as toxicities (air, water, soil), hormonal imbalances (thyroid, insulin resistance, male/female hormones, adrenal glands), infections (viruses, bacteria, candida/yeast/mold), allergies and/or sensitivities (dust, pollens, chemicals, foods) and nutritional deficiencies (vitamins, minerals, amino acids, essential fatty acids). Once the cause has been identified, it is simply a matter of applying the appropriate treatment (therapy, diet, targeted nutrition, etc.) to help you get back on the path to wellness. Unfortunately, there is no magic pill that will miracle you back to health. It is a journey that starts with you making the decision to become healthier. Then it is about motivation and surrounding yourself with the right team to help you return to wellness. We pride ourselves on being that team because remember, “when the ‘i’ is replaced with ‘we’ even illness becomes wellness.” To start your path to wellness give us a call at 314-293-8123 or visit our website at www.theinstituteofnaturalhealth.com.
If you are sick and/or don’t feel well, there is a cause and I promise you that the disease itself is not the cause.

I
Anxiety And depression
t seems that the incidence of anxiety and depression has risen dramatically over the last 10 years. What is the reason? Is it that we just talk about it more? Is it genetic? Is it the endocrine disrupting quality of the pesticides used on our food supply? Is it the level of stress that so many people live under these days with all of the over-scheduling? Is it the imbalance of your gut microbes, due to alarming rates of sugar consumption, given it is estimated that up to 90% of your serotonin is produced in your digestive tract? Well, I don’t know. But, as a wise therapist told me many years ago, “It’s not one thing or the other, but rather little bits of many things”. What I do know, however, is that it is my job to try and help clients who ever-increasingly present with these conditions when coming in to see me. People run the gambit regarding their thoughts on treatment. Some people are willing to take pharmaceutical medications and some are not. Some people suffer, refusing to take these medications. And, others sometimes take more traditional treatment remedies and combine them with alternative treatments. I generally don’t take a position one way or the other. However, I like to give my clients all options so that they can make informed decisions as to their path for relief. I can say however, that doing nothing is not going to make the symptoms disappear. The edgy-snappy manifestation of anxiety/depression often is brought up in couples counseling, when one person feels they are being impacted negatively by the other’s mood and they have been unwilling thus far to try to remedy this condition. The option I frequently discuss with clients relates to the idea of balancing your neurotransmitters. The medical community has fairly high consensus on which neuro transmitters are responsible for which types of symptoms. Anxiety, chronic worrying, etc. is associated with low serotonin. Additionally, the more traditional manifestations of classic “brain fog” and an inability to get up and going is often associated with Dopamine. However, there
are many important neurotransmitters that come into play. Unfortunately, without measuring them the treatment is just a shot in the dark. This is why people continue to be switched on their medications, over and over, and many cannot seem to get the relief they deserve. Additionally, it is known that traditional SSRI’s don’t work for as many as 1/3 of the people that take them. These medications in effect gather up the serotonin for utilization. However, some people don’t produce enough serotonin to even gather up in the first place. There are independent labs that can measure these neurotransmitters through a urine sample. And, there are amino acid supplements to shore up many deficiencies. For example, 5-HTP works as a building block and precursor to serotonin. However as usual, the fight between the traditional medical community and one that is more alternative lives on. Some in the traditional medical community will say that you can’t truly measure neurotransmitter levels with a urine test. However, naturopaths and others believe you can. Again, I work to provide options to clients, who do not want side-effect producing medications, with an alternative to consider. I am not a doctor, nor do I claim to be. It is everyone’s job to become informed and be active in their treatment. I work with many clients to get their neurotransmitter levels measured and begin the supplementation process. However, I must state clearly that you should not go about supplementing yourself willy-nilly, as even natural supplements can be dangerous if not handled correctly. et-Pet Rescue (VPR) is a volunteer, foster-based non-for profit (501c3), all breed rescue & adoption organization. We are located in Chesterfield MO, as a legal limited liability corporation in the State of Missouri, that was created by Dr. Douglas Pernikoff. We are dedicated to helping all types of animals from euthanasia or other harmful scenarios. Our intent is to place them into loving, forever homes. We take animals from different shelters across Missouri that need help due to lack of space or the particular program’s inability to adopt the animal. We also take in owner surrenders as space permits. Our focus is on dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens, but we regularly take in reptiles, small mammals, and birds to find them homes as well. Vet-Pet Rescue adoption fees for dogs and cats includes a spay/neuter surgery, microchipping, vaccines appropriate for their estimated age & deworming. All animals will have a fecal sample check for parasites, provided heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention. If over 6 months old dogs will be heartworm tested and puppies under the age of 6 months are parvo-virus tested, and all cats are feline leukemia/FIV tested. We also treat the animals for any medical issues they have when entering our program and provide grooming if needed. We hold all of our animals for 7 to 10 days before allowing them to

be adopted to new homes. This allows us time to monitor for common illnesses, and to learn something about their personalities. Our Rescue coordinator and volunteers do their best to learn everything they can about each animal taken into our rescue. These actions help us to provide our new pet owners with information about their new pet’s behaviors as well as to assure that we are working to provide healthy pets for them. One common reason for animals to end up in a shelter is that they are found running free as strays and are not reclaimed by their original owners while held in shelters. Over 7 million pet dogs and cats are killed at shelters nationwide each year. In some cases, a family is moving and cannot take the animal with them. Rather than work to find a best option, the owner will simply release them outside to survive as they can. Some animals may be killed by cars, or by other feral animals. Our goal is to help these animals find their second chance at life through adoptions from our VET PET RESCUE into wonderful new pet homes. Please take a look at our site at www.vet-petrescue.com or contact us at (314)800-4321 to find your new best friend, or donate to help us carry on with our mission on behalf of so many abandoned pets in need. WOODS Nontoxic Insect Repellent My Recipe
W
ith all the talk about mosquitoes and disease, it’s important to know how to protect yourself naturally from insects. Studies have shown that essential oils are as effective as toxic chemicals in avoiding bites and stings. Here’s my recipe for WOODS... a potent essential oil based insect repellent. This is one of the first aromatherapy blends I made back in 1979 at the start of my herb business. Since my focus is now on Wreaths and Native Teas, I thought I’d share my recipe. WOODS has been used in Maine for biting black flies, in Louisiana for jumbo mosquitoes, in the Ozarks for “no see-ums”, in Mexico for sand fleas. WOODS ingredients: cedarwood, citronella, eucalyptus, anise, pennyroyal in olive oil base. Cedarwood, citronella and eucalyptus are the most important, easy to find and inexpensive. Anise seed and pennyroyal are a bit harder to obtain and are often more costly. Directions: in 4 oz of olive oil add 75 drops citronella, 75 drops cedarwood, 30 drops eucalyptus. (Optional: add 20 drops anise seed; 15 drops pennyroyal.) Shake well. Keeps longer when stored in refrigerator. This blend is highly concentrated and very effective. Keep from eyes, mouth and tender places. Apply to skin to repel mosquitoes, ticks, chiggers, flies, fleas when camping, hiking, working in the yard and playing outside. Reapply after 6 hours and after swimming. It’s

very important to remember to reapply. I didn’t and a sneaky little beast gave me West Nile Virus. I was bitten by a life-changing mosquito, yet I still respect and appreciate all of Nature. I have learned many lessons from my tiny visitor and can say I am grateful for what this little insect taught me. Every part of Nature exists for a reason and fills an ecological niche. Mosquitoes are important pollinators and a significant food source for birds, bats, dragonflies, turtles, fish and frogs. There are over 3500 species of mosquito everywhere on Earth except for Antarctica and Iceland. Not all carry disease. Each species habits differ from day to night and feeding environment. It would be god-like of us to think we should eradicate the mosquito and it is likely to have consequences we cannot predict. I can’t help but wonder what Nature is communicating through this tiny messenger. We have deforested, polluted, caused extinction and habitat destruction. Think Nature has had enough of us and our thoughtless actions? There’s so much we have yet to understand about the tiny things of the world. njoy the rainforest without ever leaving Missouri during the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House’s annual March Morpho Mania® event. Nearly 3,000 Blue Morpho butterflies will be in freeflight inside the 8,000-square-foot tropical Conservatory for this annual event. March Morpho Mania® offers visitors an opportunity to see the largest collection of Blue Morpho butterflies in the United States, and is included with regular admission. The Blue Morpho is one of the largest butterflies at the Butterfly House and has a six-inch wingspan. Blue Morphos also have tiny scales on their wings which refract light and produce flashes of blue that bewilder predators in nature. Common Blue Morpho butterflies (Morpho peleides) are native to Central and South America. The collection at the Butterfly House mainly hails from El Bosque Nuevo, a sustainable butterfly farming operation in Costa Rica. Visitors are welcome to bring a hand-held camera to capture the experience of seeing these butterflies in action. No tripods, monopods or external flash equipment allowed. Due to increased crowds during this event, no strollers are allowed. A variety of butterflyinspired gifts, educational toys, books and souvenirs for all ages, including several Blue Morpho items will be available for sale in the gift shop. Regular Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Closed Mondays. The Butterfly

HealtHy planet HappenInGS During 2016 Butler’s pantry CeleBrates 50 years of innovative Catering serviCes Second-Generation Business Celebrates Milestone by Giving Back. Butler’s Pantry, a second-generation business founded in 1966, announces their 50th year Jubilee in 2016. This pivotal milestone for the catering and event design company brings a year of celebration and giving back to the community. Butler’s Pantry was the dream of Richard (Sr.) and Anita Nix who founded the business in 1966 on one principle: to provide the most innovative and creative catering company to St. Louis. Richard Nix Jr., President of Butler’s Pantry, is fueled by the same passion for excellence and continues to operate Butler’s Pantry under the guiding principles of his parents. That driving ambition sets the stage for the next 50 years. As Butler’s Pantry looks forward to the next 50 years, the company is deeply committed to maintaining and growing culinary distinction to help others achieve event goals in a memorable fashion. Butler’s Pantry will also continue their commitment to the St. Louis community through a new initiative: Full Pantry, Full Life. With the hopes of feeding 50,000 St. Louisans, Butler’s Pantry will donate $5 for every 50 guests fed in 2016 to support the needs of local food pantries. “In my eyes, every day is a celebration,” said Richard Nix Jr., President of Butler’s Pantry. “We’ve built success out of passion and 50 years could never be possible without our hard-working staff and the wonderful community in which the business resides. St. Louis can count on Butler’s Pantry to deliver creative menus, consistent results and innovative design for any size of event for the next 50 years!” To commemorate the 50th anniversary, Butler’s Pantry has enlisted the artistic services of Nori Obata. Obata, who was born and raised in St. Louis, crafts unique porcelain ceramic tableware for display and functional use. Butler’s Pantry will gift the artists’ work with some events in 2016. The one-of-a-kind serving platters will boast a hand –painted abstract design of an iconic local structure, and will be gifted throughout the year. Follow Butler’s Pantry on Facebook and Twitter (@butlerspantry1) for an exciting social media campaign while they celebrate 50 years of cheers-worthy moments at 50 of St. Louis’ finest venues for entertaining #50in50! If social media isn’t for you, subscribe to the Butler’s Pantry blog to stay up-to-date on the latest happenings and get a first look at the redesigned website when it goes live in 2016! the BioMat’s quantum energetics allows the body to fight disease and heal with a naturally strong and efficient immune system. It is composed of 17 layers of technology, combining Far Infrared Rays (FIR), negative ions and amethyst crystals. Time spent on the mat relieves pain and joint stiffness, reduces stress and fatigue, boosts the immune system, burns calories and many other healthful benefits. Infrared Rays, nature’s invisible light and most
beneficial light wave, penetrate skin and increase circulation to detoxify the body of harmful toxins. The FIR can increase blood flow and clean the arteries (which means it can help lower blood pressure), release toxins, increase metabolism, heal soft tissue and relax muscles. Negative Ions are Nature’s Energizer. Ion particles cleanse and purify the air we breathe. Amethyst bolsters the production of the hormones
and strengthens the cleansing organs, the circulatory system and blood, the immune system and body metabolism. Be proactive about your health and well being. A good nights sleep on the BioMat or a mere 30 minute nap, can go a long way to ensuring a healthier, happier you. Call The Center for Mind, Body & Spirit to schedule an appointment to try the BioMat. 314.725.6767.
Our approach to holistic health includes the entire body and the oral cavity is no exception. We are dedicated to serving our patients and promoting a level of health care that carefully evaluates and reviews the use of dental materials, dental procedures and also offers dietary and nutritional support for each and every individual that is seen in our office.
Did you know that examining the mouth can reveal the presence of illnesses or unstable conditions in other areas of the body? If you feel like you’ve just about exhausted all your options in your search for better health, have your mouth examined with a different approach in mind. Get motivated, get educated, and get ready to participate in a
health-oriented lifestyle that will provide dental alternatives and a nutritional foundation designed to help support your own body’s healing powers.
The focus of holistic dentistry is to consider the mouth as a part of the whole body. We use materials and methods that are more compatible biologically with the body instead of the traditional dental materials. Examples of non-compatible materials are mercury fillings, non-precious heavy metal crowns, bridges and partials or dentures. Alternatives to fluoride are used
for the prevention of cavities. Proper alignment of the jaws and teeth are the foundation of how the body perceives itself in space. The result of improper alignment can result in symptoms of headache, ears ringing, loss of hearing, pain in the head and neck and clenching or grinding of the teeth. Good nutrition is inseparable for good
health. If your diet consists of food and drink made with white flour, sugar and no fresh fruits and vegetables, your body is likely to be acidic with resultant more medical and dental problems. What to do when diet and exercise just don’t work...
Why People Store Fat in All The Wrong Places
Take a look at the pictures below and see which one most resembles you. Next, read over the different symptoms you may be experiencing. If you have been fighting the battle of trying to lose weight by going to the gym and exercising or by dieting and are still frustrated because you just can’t lose the weight or your not feeling yourself, it’s probably not your fault.
Adrenal Type ...Anxiety, frequent feelings of stress, depression, insomnia...
Liver Type ...Potbelly, bloating after eating, right shoulder pain...
Ovary Type ...Weight gain in hips, thighs and buttocks, with a lower stomach bulge...
Thyroid Type ...Weakness, fatigue, lethargy, sleepiness, need for mid-afternoon naps...
Which One Are You?
Your problem may not be what you are doing, but more of what your hormones are NOT doing. Learn how hormones can affect your sleep cycle, cravings, and fat burning. The game changer occurs when you know how to activate your fat burning hormones. Guess what happens when there is too much production of fat storing hormones? Do you think more exercise will change that? If it did, you would have lost weight by now and feel good about the way you look. There is a reason why you are unable to lose weight. You have to “listen” to what your body is trying to tell you. So, if you are embarrassed and frustrated by the way you look, or have been told by someone that you will always be fat no matter what you do, or you just can’t lose weight or feel good about yourself, we have a solution. No, it doesn’t involve working out more or eating an 800-calorie diet. This is not a quick fix where you lose weight only to gain it all back and more within 6 months. We believe in providing you with information that you can use for the rest of your life, not only to lose weight, but also keep it off. This before and after picture speaks for itself. Look at that smile! If you are looking to find the true cause of your stubborn weight gain or hormone issues, call 314-282-3990 today to register
