Student Guides: Ben Geytenbeek, Candice Smith, William Hassell, Anton Hauk, Nikita Mickan, Leticia Schmitz, Rachel Ndabarinze, Jason Ducker Thank you to the teachers, Chris Blansjaar and the Home Economics teaching team, Algis Laurinaitis, Arthur Roubanis, and parents for supporting their participation. The one on one meetings with Ministers provided an opportunity for members of the community to voice opinions and discuss issues of concern. Members of the Leadership Team talked with Peter Garrett, Minister for Education, the topic being gifted and talented education, with a focus on aboriginal students. The Public Forum also enabled voices of the community to be heard and for Federal Government leaders to listen to the people in whose interests they govern. Our school has established a range of methods to encourage parents and caregivers to communicate about issues, concerns, feedback about what works well and for all parties to be involved in decisions about policies and directions. Communication via email, telephone, letter, notes in the diary/communication book, interviews, questionnaires, surveys to class teachers, home group teachers, Year Level Team Leaders, Student Counsellors, Christian Pastoral Support workers, the Principal, sub-school Senior Leaders, subject Coordinators, the Community Liaison Officer and Governing Council members about teaching and learning programs, student progress, teaching practices, student welfare, student behaviour, school policies, school operations, the school environment - any concern that you want to raise or discuss or information that you need about any aspect of the school is encouraged and welcome. GARDEN NEWS The Garden Program at the school has worked extremely well during term 1. It is unfortunate that we have had to say goodbye to Kristin Wohlers, our garden specialist. Kristin has decided to finish her work here at the school and follow up with work closer to her home in the Barossa. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Kristin for her hard work, extensive knowledge on gardening and her tireless effort to ensure that the garden is producing fresh vegetables. Garden lessons will continue as a normal part of the program until we find a suitable replacement for Kristin. We wish her all the best and we are still able to seek advice on various garden issues from her. Alison Denee, Junior School Senior Leader
