THE HEIGHTS SCHOOL – OUT OF SCHOOL HOURS SPORT
The Heights school encourages students to be physically active and endeavours to provide opportunities for students to participate in sport, both within the school curriculum and low cost options for after school sport. Out of school hours sports are only played during school terms, with no games during school holidays or public holidays. These sports are run by parents (not school staff) for the benefit of their children. In 2011, The Heights plans to offer the following out of school hours sports: o o o o o o
Netball Cricket Basketball Teeball / Baseball Football Indoor Soccer
Cricket: Cricket is played Saturday mornings at local schools in Terms 1 and 4. Boys and girls from Years 2 to 7 can play. Training is one afternoon per week after school (as per coach availability). Anticipated costs in 2011 are $50 per year. Students need to supply cricket whites. Basketball: Basketball is played various afternoons / evenings at Burragah Recreation Centre and Golden Grove Recreation Centre. Boys and girls play in mixed teams from ages 8 years to 17 years. Training is one afternoon per week after school (as per coach availability) in the school gym. Anticipated costs in 2011 are $100 per season (approximately 18 weeks) which includes nomination, registration and weekly Recreation Centre. There will also be a refundable deposit for the supplied basketball top. Teeball / Baseball: Teeball/ Baseball are played against local schools on Saturday mornings in Terms 1 and 4 at Illyarrie Reserve, Surrey Downs. Boys and girls play in mixed teams from Years 2 to 7. Teeball is played by Year 2/3’s, Year 4’s, and “softtoss” Teeball by Year 5’s. Baseball is played by Year 6/7 boys and girls. Training is one afternoon per week after school on the middle school oval as per coach availability. Anticipated costs in 2011 are $50 per year including Association fees. Students will need to purchase a teeball/baseball uniform
Soccer: Soccer is played on Monday nights (9 11 and Under) and on Thursday nights (13 and under) at Burragah Recreation Centre. Boys and girls play in mixed teams from ages 8 years to 17 years Training is one afternoon per week after school as per coach availability. Anticipated costs in 2011 are $100 per season (approximately 18 weeks) which includes nomination, registration and weekly Recreation Centre. Students will need to purchase a PE uniform and will need to supply shin guards, boots etc. Netball: Netball is played on Friday afternoons / evenings at Golden Grove Recreation Centre and Burragah Recreation Centre. Boys and Girls (mixed teams) up to U11’s. Girls only teams in U13’s and U15’s. Nettaball is played on Thursday afternoons (mixed teams) for U7’s and U9’s. Training is one afternoon per week after school (as per coach availability) in the school gym. Anticipated costs in 2011 are $100 per season (approximately 18 weeks) which includes nomination, registration and weekly Recreation Centre. There will also be a refundable deposit for the uniform.
Football: Football is played on Saturday mornings at local schools in Terms 2 and 3. Boys and girls in Years 2 to 7 can play. Training is one afternoon per week after school (as per coach availability) on the school oval. Anticipated costs in 2011 are $40 per year including umpiring fees. There will also be a refundable deposit for the supplied football guernsey. Students will need to supply socks, boots, shorts etc.

Please note that Cricket, Netball, Basketball and Teeball/Baseball commence games very early in Term 1, therefore forms MUST be returned by the first day of Term 1. Late nominations will only be accepted subject to availability of places in teams.
