Howard Faces Morgan State in New York Urban League Classic by Karim Alammuri Sports Editor The Howard University Bison will head to Secaucus, N.J. on Sept. 25, where they will be facing the Morgan State Bears for the 64th time. Howard enters this game not having won a game since last season, when they beat Winston-Salem State University with a score of 7-3 on Oct. 3, 2009. They are currently on a 10 game losing streak, including seven losses to finish off the 2009 season and three losses to kick-off the 2010 season. In addition to their losing streak, they have not won a game in the MEAC since Oct. 27, 2007, when they beat Norfolk State, 17-10. Since head coach David HillEley of Morgan State, has taken over their program in 2002, the Bears have gone 7-1 against the Bison, including four straight wins. Last season, when Howard traveled to Baltimore, they lost in a close game against Morgan 14-7. Overall, the Morgan State Bears lead the series against the Howard Bison 38-24-1. Last week, Morgan State suffered a tough loss against North Dakota Sate University, being defeated 35-9. The Bears offense struggled against NDSU, as they only gained 207 yards of total offense. Howard also suffered a difficult

loss last week, 50-7, from Florida A&M, here at Greene Stadium. Many mistakes lead to their defeat, as FAMU capitalized on turnovers and blocked punts. In addition to turning the ball over numerous times, FAMU gained 406 yards of total offense (197 yards passing and 209 rushing). Keith Pough, a linebacker, leads the defense with a total of 16 tackles, six of which are for a loss and two sacks. Casey Council, a quarterback, leads the team in rushing with 175 yards on 43 attempts and Justin Duncan, a junior running back, has 113 yards on 22 atempts. Justin Duncan is coming off a game where he rushed for over 100 yards last week, against Florida A&M.
