About Our Space

WHAT IS HAPPENING AT THE HIVERY? • • •

Inspiration, big ideas, and the nitty-gritty work to move toward our dreams. Learning, collaborating, developing ourselves, our creative endeavors, and our businesses. Support, sharing, and exploration. Every day women are doing cool stuff at The Hivery and supporting each other in doing it.

CO-WORKING Every weekday from 8:30AM – 6:00PM, passionate women use The Hivery as an inspiration lab, a work space, a connecting point. When you come to our beautiful space and supportive community, you leave the lonely isolation of working alone behind. No key is required. The Hivery will be staffed and the door open. Our flexible system — come on the weekdays that work for you—means you’re likely to see both familiar faces and members you haven’t met yet on any given visit. We’re all doing different things, yet we all benefit from the community. You’ll find people working on computers and white boards, journaling, meeting with clients, collaborating, brainstorming, working through to-do’s, and holding quiet conversations. This is a place where you can get things done!

About Our Space WIFI

As you settle in and get to work, you’ll want to connect to our WiFi and printer. TheHivery network is connected to the printers and is the recommended network. Here are directions to follow for new members connecting for the first time. It’s a two step process. Step One: Make sure wifi is turned on and select The Hivery from the drop down menu on your device. Input our password: womendoingcoolstuff (all lower case, one word) and hit enter Step Two: Go to your browser and enter: www.thehivery.com. You will get a pop up box asking you to input your email and password. Use the email that you selected when you signed up for membership. If you cannot remember your password, hit “forgot password” and reset it. After inputting both your email and your password, hit “enter”. You will get a “your connected” message and be all set! IMPORTANT NOTE: We use the wifi check-in as our measurement tool for tracking co-working member usage in the space. Please keep this in mind when you check in the wifi. Checking in on the wifi counts you as checking in for your coworking day. If you’re on an 8x per month package, and you sign in on the wifi, your “day” will be deducted from your account. This is especially important to remember if you come to an event or workshop on your non-work day. If you’re coming for an event or workshop, and need a guest wifi code during the workshop, make sure you see a concierge to avoid being charged for the day. Please find a concierge to help you if you run into any problems. Directions for removing xfinity wifi network pop-up: If the xfinity pop-up is bothering you, follow these instructions to remove it! For a Mac, please go to System Preferences>Network>Advanced>Scroll down the list until you see xfinity>Click the minus sign>Click Apply Directions for turning off file sharing: While using The Hivery, you may want to verify that your computer’s file sharing is turned off. Go to Systems Preferences>Sharing>and uncheck all the boxes.

About Our Space PRINTER

Add the printer Brother-HL-6180-DW (double-sided, black/white printer) and Color Laserjet Pro M252dW (color printer) by going into your control panel (PC) or system preferences (Mac). Click the little plus sign to add a printer. If you still can’t print, please reboot your computer and it should work after a reboot. Sometimes the Brother printer is unresponsive and needs to be unplugged and then plugged back in. Feel free to do this if you’re having trouble printing. Please use the printer for small jobs, not major copying. Any big bleeding edge jobs with lots of copies should be taken to a copy place.

PHONE CALLS / PHONE SOUNDS The Hivery has a cafe noise-level policy. You can take a quick, non-confidential phone call in the open space. Personal phone calls and long calls can be taken on the couch or entry, on the outside deck, in an open conference room, or down the hall in the public areas of the office building. If you just pop into a conference room without a reservation, please be respectful and willing to leave if someone has it reserved. While our conference rooms have been insulated for sound dampening, they are not soundproof. Please be mindful of this for confidential conversations and meetings. Please turn your phone volume down or switch to vibrate and turn-off text-message audible dings, while working in the space.

About Our Space PARKING

The Hivery keeps quarters on hand for the meters. Please ask one of The Hivery’s Community Concierges for the quarter jar if you’re short. Put in dollar bills and take out change. Or just contribute quarters back in when you can. If you're using the meter, make sure to set your phone timer because the parking-enforcement officer is very good at her job! An employee sticker can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce if you're a member of the Chamber or an Unlimited Member of The Hivery. It's $10/month and you can park all day in a Employee spot. Ask us for a member-verification letter before you head to the Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber is located next to The Depot Bookstore. There are limited employee parking stickers available. If you're a resident of Mill Valley, you can buy a residential parking sticker, which allows you to park in the two-hour metered spots without needing to put quarters in the meter. However, you do still need to move your car every two hours. You can purchase these resident parking stickers at the Mill Valley police station.

C O M P L I M E N TA R Y M E M B E R E V E N T S We encourage members to gather and connect, and our various programs and gatherings are a perfect way to do that. Here are our reoccurring, free programs that are free for members: •

The Hivery Circle, is a monthly evening event to gather, share, listen, and cultivate what's next. Support from each other, ideas, tips, and a large dose of laughter, is what The Hivery is all about. Typically the 2nd Tuesday evening at 7pm of each month. Themes and formats vary each month.

Writers’ Circle on the first Thursday of the month. Gather with other writers to share resources, experiences, wisdom, and writer-to-writer support.

Entrepreneur’s Circle, the third Thursday of the month, is a round-table discussion. Gather with other business builders to discuss victories, challenges, ideas, and resources.

Discovery Session, the last Friday of the month from 9 am–11 am. This is a facilitated coaching session and discussion, meant to inspire, cultivate what is next for you, and encourage connection among other vibrant women.

Monthly Member Lunch is a casual, brown-bag lunch in the main space that offers community and coworking members the chance to meet, connect, and chat. We rotate the day for this lunch each month to ensure that it’s available to all schedules. We typically announce the member lunch date at least 30 days prior.

Member Spotlight is a topic-based, casual BYO lunch led by our members on a variety of topics. This is an opportunity for members to share their voice and expertise and for each of us to learn from each other. Please email Betsy@TheHivery.com if you’d like to lead a lunch. Check the online Community Board, kitchen chalkboard, and events page frequently for upcoming lunches. These are casual, conversational, and great ways to meet and learn from other members.

TIPS TO

Thrive at The Hivery You decided to THINK BIG, DARE GREATLY, and JOIN OUR inviting and inspiring COMMUNITY. We’re so glad you’re here. People come to The Hivery for a lot of reasons, but those who thrive tend to have these four things in common. We encourage you to do these things, too: COME Showing up is a huge piece of success. You joined The Hivery for a reason. This is a space for ideas and inspiration. It’s a place where women are doing cool things. It’s a place to cultivate you and your business. So if you’re feeling lonely in your home office, come feel the inviting vibe of our community. If you’re not sure what to do next, come in and get focused and inspired. If you’re ready to move forward, come get to work. Don’t be afraid to come in when you’re feeling discouraged; that could be when you need The Hivery the most. To thrive at The Hivery, for starters, put your Hivery days on your calendar and just come in.

PARTICIPATE We want you to come in, yes, but The Hivery is more than a space. We’re a community of kind, creative, brave women, and we want to hear your voice. Join us for a lunch or a workshop or a social event. Ask a question in our member forum (community board). Find out what cool things other women are doing. Support them, give the gift of your talent, and ask for what you need. You don’t have to be a long-time Hivery member to join in. Start now. Sign up for your first workshop or put your first Members’ Lunch on your calendar. Ask another member to coffee. The more you connect, the more you get out of your membership.

TIPS TO

Thrive at The Hivery EXPLORE Our members are motivated and make things happen—and sometimes they’re exploring what’s next. That may mean playing with a new business idea or delving into a passion. Leave the word “should” behind when you come to The Hivery. Dare to explore and wonder and create. Join us for one of our what’s next workshops or set up a consult with our team of expert coaches and mentors to explore ideas about where you’re headed.

COLLABORATE We believe in the unstoppable power of women collaborating. You’re already here. You’re participating in this remarkable community. What can you do together? Think partnerships and using each other’s services. Think asking questions and getting tips and advice. Stop thinking you’re in this all alone. What do you need? I bet you’ll find an answer in our community.

21

6 Our “Be Nice” Terms We believe that at the heart of connection is vulnerability. We cannot achieve openness and healthy collaboration without first raising our hands and claiming our voice. The Hivery makes decisions purposefully to ensure it is a safe place to be vulnerable. We talk about fears and feelings. We are realistic about bad days, and supportive of good ones. We don’t foster or welcome negativity or cliquish behavior. Our commitment is simple: we are kind to one another. We open our doors and ourselves to the possibility of new people, new experiences and the excitement of what is coming next.

7 The Hivery’s 30-Day Challenge

7

THE HIVERY’S

30-Day Challenge Welcome to the Hivery! The Hivery is a place to gather and share. We value connection, collaboration, inspiration, and sharing. The Hivery isn’t just a place you come, it’s a community you become part of. You took the first step and joined us—now let’s get you off to a phenomenal start. We’ve outlined steps you can take during your first 30 days to get the most out of your Hivery membership. WEEK 1 ●

Day 1. Create your member profile. All Hivery members are included in our Member Directory to make it easy to find others for collaboration, accountability, networking, or socializing. Setting up your profile right away is a great first step. Enter your profile by logging into our Member Area (thehivery.spaces.nexudus.com/en). Don’t forget to make it “public” so the community can see it!

Day 2. Set a goal. What do you want to accomplish in your first month at the Hivery? The answer to this question varies a lot because women are here for many different reasons. Knowing what you want to do—whether it’s refocus your job search or launch a new program or develop a plan for the business you’re dreaming of—will help you stay focused and motivated.

Day 3. Schedule your Hivery days a week in advance. We know life is busy and the unexpected happens. We’ve found the people who schedule time to work at the Hivery are more likely to get here. So, when are you coming this week (and next)?

Day 4. Make a plan. You’ve got a big goal and you know when you’re going to work on it. What actions do you need to take? What specifically will you do on you Hivery days? Try mapping it out.

Day 5. Get familiar with the space. One of the best ways to get familiar with our space is to come in and use it. If you have questions about where you can sit or take a call or how to find the coffee or connect to the wifi or print your document, please ask. We want you to feel at home so you can settle into our magic nest.

25

7

THE HIVERY’S

30-Day Challenge ●

Day 6. Get an accountability buddy. One of the key reasons people come to the Hivery is that they are lonely going it alone. Think back to the goal you set on Day 2—or the specific action steps you created on Day 4. Get yourself an accountability buddy. Let your partner know what you’re working on. Check in with each other to help make sure it happens. If you need help finding an accountability buddy, let us know and we will match you with a great fit!

Day 7. Schedule a consult with Grace. Hivery founder, Grace Kraaijvanger offers private consultations on going back to work, changing careers, new business ideas and formation, personal branding, and action-mapping your next chapter. If you’re seeking greater clarity about what you’re doing here, this is a great starting point. More details and registration available here: http://www.thehivery.com/new-products/private-consultation WEEK 2

Day 8. Get inspired. Take a little time to read some back blog posts to see what our members are up to. Get inspired for what you will accomplish as part of our community.

Day 9. Come to work! We hope that you’re coming to work at The Hivery during your second week. Be inspired. Be productive.

Day 10. Join us for the Hivery Circle The Hivery Circle, is a monthly evening to gather, share, listen, and cultivate what's next. This is a great time to meet other members, get support from each other, and share ideas, tips—and a large dose of laughter. This is a great way to see what the Hivery is all about.

Day 11. Sign up for a workshop. There’s always something interesting going on at the Hivery. Our workshop topics range from self-exploration, wellness, creative ventures, business launch, growth, funding, to career transitions. Find one that speaks to you and sign up today. Check out all our events here: http://www.thehivery.com/events/.

Day 12. Check in with your accountability buddy. How’s it going so far? Whether you’re hitting your goals and feeling part of the community or you’re struggling, this is a great time to check in with your accountability buddy.

26

7

THE HIVERY’S

30-Day Challenge ●

Day 13. Ask (or answer) a question. Whether you’re wondering something about the Hivery itself or have a need-toknow question for your business or are feeling stuck, asking a question on our community board can help. It goes both ways, so if you can answer a question or help out another member, do! We’re a community. Tap in. Take part.

Day 14. Plan your next week. Every week is different. That’s why we don’t tie you into specific days at the Hivery. You don’t have to tell us you’re coming, but take the time to tell yourself when you’ll be here. Get it in your planner and make a commitment to come. WEEK 3

Day 15. Review your goals and plan. You’re half-way through your first month at the Hivery. This is a great time to review your goals and plan. Are you on course? Great! If not, what changes can you make to get back on track? Reach out to the community—through the community board or directly to another member—for support.

Day 16. Schedule time in a conference room. Is it time for a meeting with a client or an investor? Need a face-to-face with your coach or mentor? Have a conference call you need to take part in? You’ll feel confident and professional in one of our meeting spaces. Use our shared calendar to schedule a space. Remember, maximum use is 90 minutes per meeting so that there is room for everyone.

Day 17. Grab a coffee break with another member. Having coffee with another member, whether you talk about work or other parts of your life, builds connections that The Hivery is all about.

Day 18. Come in and get something done. What can you do today to move you toward your goals? Use the Hivery space to inspire you. Spend the time to take action.

Day 19. Join Us. During a monthly round-table or a member spotlight lunch, you can gather with other women to discuss victories, challenges, ideas, resources, and ways that we can help each other grow. Remember you aren’t going it alone here.

27

7

THE HIVERY’S

30-Day Challenge ●

Day 21. Put yourself out there. Sometimes people in our lives don’t quite get what we’re doing, but sometimes they provide amazing support. Share your goals and Hivery experience outside of the Hivery circle. Post a work selfie on Instagram or share what you’re working on at the Hivery on Facebook. @TheHivery #womendoingcoolstuff facebook.com/TheHivery

Day 21. Share with The Hivery. Share what you’ve accomplished so far or next week’s goals or your latest struggle with our community through our community board. Tap into our creative network or caring women. WEEK 4

Day 22. Take advantage of another member’s services. Many Hivery members offer discounts on their services to others in the community. See the details in the member benefits section. What services could you use? How could you support another member?

Day 23. Bring a friend along. Are you going to a Hivery event? Do you know someone who could use some inspiration and community? Bring a friend along to the Hivery event and spread the Hivery magic!

Day 24. Show up. Sometimes all that matters is showing up. When you show up, you tell yourself that your work matters. So get here, even if you are feeling stuck or unmotivated. See what this lovely space, the creative vibe, the Hivery buzz can do for you today.

Day 25. Reach out. Our members have diverse interests and businesses. Reach out to somebody else to ask a question—or answer one. Send thanks for help you received whether it was a referral, an service or the encouragement you needed.

Day 26. Make a leap. We find that Hivery members feel brave and take risks. We know we have community support to dare to follow our dreams and make mistakes along the way. We know when we leap, we aren’t alone. So go tell us what you’re afraid to do—and do it anyway.

28

7

THE HIVERY’S

30-Day Challenge

Day 27. Collaborate. Hivery members are doing amazing things on their own or with their own teams, but we’ve seen some amazing collaborations grow. Think about the people you’ve met here, dig into the directory. Is there somebody you’d like to work with? Have an idea but need the skills somebody else has? Put your idea out there, and see if you connect.

Day 28. Share the inspiration. The Hivery is made up of women doing cool things together. What cool things do you see women doing? What’s inspiring you? Share somebody else’s cool work with your tribe outside the Hivery—share the inspiration.

RAMP UP ●

Day 29. Take stock. What worked for you over the course of your first month? What did you accomplish? How do you feel? We’re proud of our members and love to celebrate your achievements—and help you through your sticking points. Let us know what’s happening.

Day 30. What’s next? Have you gotten into a rhythm at the Hivery? Discovered a new idea or a new step forward? Tell us what you’ve done and what you love about the Hivery. Then make a plan for your next 30 days to keep the momentum going.

Thank you for being a part of The Hivery! #womendoingcoolstuff
