I don’t know about you, but I’ve felt many times in the past, I can no longer find the energy to do what I need to do. Many of us put ourselves under immense pressure and work really long hours to achieve our goals, at the expense of our health.

It’s amazing when you think about it, we sacrifice our weeks working long hours; get very little, poor quality sleep; take little or no vacation - all in the hope that the sacrifice will ensure our success in making it to the top!

Did you know that 61% of Americans will check on work whilst on vacation? That 69% of our population cannot get to bed without first checking emails? We do this for 20-30 years of our lives. We may make some money over the years, but with this type of lifestyle, we often sacrifice our health. To a lot of us, this means spending all that hard earned money on attempting to get our health back. Research, it turns out, has shown us a very interesting phenomenon. In fact, it is one which you may find hard to believe. Peoples happiness rating in the U.S.A. does not increase beyond an earning level of $75 000 annually. This brings up a very interesting question. Why do we push ourselves so hard if not to achieve happiness and quality of life?

First they ignore you; then they laugh at you; then they fight you - then you win! - Mahatma Gandhi “Dad, you’re drinking that green shake again! All my friends think you’re weird!” Hey, I’ll take weird over sick all day long.

I know how it feels to have that foggy brain; to feel tired all the time; to not be able to concentrate; and to have no energy to do anything other than go through the motions at work.

Stop NOW!!! By making some small changes, you can make a huge difference to your quality of life. This past weekend I attended my 5th Longevity Conference, which is held annually in OC. Experts, in their respective health fields come from all over the world, to keep us informed about the latest and greatest in nutrition, exercise, superfoods, healing, detoxing and so on. I attend every year to listen, learn, and be inspired again, and every year I am amazed by the tribe of students, that is growing and growing, from a few hundred participants 5 years ago, to over 5000 this year.

The health conscious movement is growing. People are starting to realize that good nutrition means good health.

Subjects from GMO to “labeling” are bandied about in most circles today. In the last 5 years I have seen organic food markets and health aware restaurants opening up all over the place. Chipotle is out performing McDonalds! People pay more for food that is healthy. Healthy, organic food has made a huge difference to my health, and the people around me. Although it did take some convincing in the beginning!

Energy!! We need energy to get the best from our lives. Energy drinks and coffee are not a solution to poor energy. They only exacerbate your health issues. I know this because I lived on them for many years. Once I cleaned up my act, got educated

on nutrition, got focused on what I wanted to achieve, and made health my #1 priority everything in my life has improved, and most importantly I no longer have that foggy feeling hanging over me.

Hand in hand with good nutrition and being healthier, comes another leading issue which has prominent status in our area.

Living in OC you can’t help but notice that there is a high premium on looking good and staying younger. I get it! I just celebrated my birthday, and I too want to live a long healthy life, have plenty of energy, and look the best I can.

3. Hang with positive people. Positive friends with positive energy raises the game.

4. Spend time de-stressing and relaxing. Meditate, dance, laugh, have a massage, and get naked.

5. Enjoy the simple things in life: Sunsets, a good book, singing in the rain, walking barefoot in the grass.

6. Be spontaneous. Do things you wouldn’t normally do.

Explore different sensations. Get out of your comfort zone.

7. Strive to be a “Champion”: The attributes of a Champion are nurtured from within and manifest in many ways.

They embody timeless strength and inner beauty, and possess power that is tempered by compassion. Whoever meets a Champion is forever changed by their radiance of calm confidence, power, balance and peaceful openness.

Finally, I had to end on this quote. I think it speaks volumes and I hope you enjoy it too. In essence, it reminds us not to take ourselves too seriously!
