Editor’s Note

I want to start off by saying, wow we did it. The first issue of OneHypedMag has been a combination of art and hard work. To everyone who took the time out of their day to help launch a dream,I personally just want to say thank you. The pieces in this magazine are from talented artists with the same motives and ambitions as I. If you get anything from this magazine other than damn good photos get this.. we should not be afraid to be who we are in our own skin. We cannot be afraid to bare the beauty and confidence that we all have. Every photo in here is suppose to translate the sexy, ellegance, and wonder that is art.. we are art. With this being the first installment of the OneHypedMag issues, we did our very best to make it to the best of standards. With that being said, if there are any suggestions we’d love to here from all of you. This magazine is a community effort and without you the people, we wouldn’t exist. So, thank you all for purchasing and supporting the magazine so far, we look forward to creating and inspring.

Lets just cut to the chase.. we’re a group of rebellious youth that love Pulp Fiction and rock n’ roll. We aren’t afraid to be a little risqué. We’re us. We love art and creating it the way we want and just believe everyone should do the same. We find beauty and freedom in nudity even though were made to believe it’s a censored topic.. no… be you, be confident, be nude. OneHypedMag was created by Jared Kinley who is a professional photographer based in the midwest. He started the idea of the magazine as a basic community page to share creators work on instagram. There was so much support and need for something bigger he decided to create a platform in the idea that is the magazine you are reading now to promote fellow artists. The whole idea is based around and showcasing true creators. With the help of his girlfriend, Josie Pierson, OneHypedMag went from a vision to a reality. She brought her knowledge of modeling and used that to find models that were artist and not just here for likes on Instagram. From there they combined their skills and created the platform that it is now. OneHypedMag started off and is always going to be about art and confidence within the community. They just want everyone to love themselves while also being badass creators. This is our lifestyle, this is us, a band of misfits that are not here to be told what to do but instead inspire another level of thinking and creative shit. This is OneHypedMag

Artistic Bodies With

Shei Phan

Art is subjective, art is misunderstood, It can be controversial at times, but it is the controversy that drives emotion. For years nudity in art was only for the individuals who could see past the skin and understand the story a human body possesses. “In the art world, nudity and sexuality is openly discussed”, however the general public kept it as a topic behind closed doors. This still applies to today’s culture but thankfully we have talented artists that pursue the art form of nudes in the most natural and elegant fashion. Shei Phan is what we at OneHypedMag here would call a creative genius. We love her work and the charisma she expels when creating and showcasing her masterpieces. She is one of the many artists today that express herself and her characters in the most vulnerable forms, what she thinks most people have an issue with is just looking at an image at face value, not looking at the story in the image “every body has a story”. Her goal for her art is “for people to step into her [my] worlds she [I] has [have] created, that have no judgment or hate”. She started this journey of creating art as a child and as she became older her style and her outlooks matured into what it is now.. in her terms “it can only be explained as controlled chaos”. Shei takes creativity from her own body to create a story for the viewers of her art, showing the beauty of the human body, so much so that the naked figures in her paintings, are usually herself in some form. In a generation where nudity is almost always considered sexual Shei had this to say “everyone has tits”, basically just meaning that most people, especially males, are apt to look at a naked image

8

and only think one thought “boobs”, but if nudity itself was not so conservative in essence then we would have more time to appreciate what’s really in front of us other than just “tits”. Now that’s not to say everyone needs to go running around with their asses out, but just not be arrogent to what is natural. True artists are not here to just show off a naked body, but simply tell their tale through it. We are art, we all have stories of heartbreak, happiness, lusts, and love.. talented creators are just extracting elements and capturing them on canvas. Next time you see a naked body, it needs to be in the words of Shei, “charished”.

Photographer Spotlight

Brittany Phillips

Brittany Phillips is a leather wearing, skinny dipping, travel connoisseur that would eat tuna for 2 months straight to afford a plane ticket somewhere new, and if there’s music on.. she’s probably dancing. She is a 29-year-old California native now living in Oklahoma City that started photography in middle school, she would take photos of her friends and boys she thought were cute with her disposable camera she told us “that practice has come full circle for me. I’ve started using disposables again in everyday life and I almost always have one during each shoot”. We asked her about her first leaps into photography and the lessons she has learned from those first moments behind the camera. “I can’t remember a time in the last 6 years that I wasn’t shooting something.” As time with the camera progressed her shoots became more polished and she became more determined and more hungry to excel. The summer of 2016 was the start of testing with agencies and after a local magazine shoot, she felt a natural pulling to the style. She stated, editing was the first technical aspect she has improved on from her days as a beginning photographer, she use to edit her photos with an online program called Picnik.. “it was awful”. More importantly however she learned “trust your instincts. Realize that perfectionism is a joke. Don’t hesitate, just jump right in, and if you fail, keep going. And patience. Good things take time has been a big lesson, one that I learn over and over again.” To new photographers, she stresses to just have fun with your craft and to stop comparing. Everyone in this field figures things out differently and at different speeds, “keep going and keep producing work”. 13

Every photographer ever has tried to figure out what is important and unique about their photos. For some, it is the lighting that defines them, or the poses they create, and for some they just hope their blurry background is enough. Not for Brittany, as a experienced artist she understands the importance of the technical aspect but for her the raw emotion felt in a photograph is what really speaks volumes. She loves photos that you don’t see all of the time, the ones that are not in a typical pose and style. Brittany looks for models that allow her to unfold her full creative ability and when that occurs “magic happens”. A notable inspiration in her career is getting a model by the name of Michaela McClure. They met when Michaela found out she had a nudity project in the works and now they have 4 shoots in the series (highly recommended you check them out) and from there as Brittany stated before “magic happens”. She is obsessed with the female body and capturing women in their natural form, she states ever since she got back to her roots “I haven’t been more proud of any body of work until now.” Going forward Brittany has one motto “More rock n’ roll. More Nudes.” Fun fact, we asked her what her camera/lens set up of choice is: Digital - Canon Mark ii - Sigma 35 mm lens Analog - Minolta Hi- Matic , Polaroid One Step When you want to learn 120 Brittany, Jared says he’s got you.

Model of the Mag

Kelleigh Seekings

At OneHypedMag we love individuals that are different, so when looking for a cover model to represent the first issue we needed someone who would stand out, fast forward a few weeks and along comes the gorgeous tall red head that drew you in at the cover. Looks aside she is an incredible person that will keep the party going and humor never ending. To get to know Kelleigh a little more we asked her a few questions about her modeling career. She is actually fairly new to the modeling world only starting at age 28 and nice then has done multiple campaigns with brands as well as being signed to a local agency, TABB. At a young age she would dress up in her room and catwalk across it practicing poses, to her reasoning “every girl does that right!?”. Almost every creative has someone that inspires them and to Kelleigh, “Cintia Dicker was and always will be my influence”. Throughout any career there will be moments of realization on how to improve and grow in the industry. We asked Kelleigh what she has learned and if there was any advise she would give to a fellow model looking at growing. Relationships are incredibly important in the world of modeling especially on a job, connections are what really ties up a successful shoot, and the best way to do that is “[to] be open, don’t be afraid to look weird or silly, [and just] be yourself”. If you have ever modeled before and felt awkward, chances are it was because the connection was not made between the creatives there, or you just had a creepy ass old man.. no names here.. okay moving on. Kelleigh is constantly pursuing this path and if this sums up anything about her, we asked what she hopes to accomplish with her modeling career, her simple answer was just “have fun”. Every successful model has something about them that really sticks out and is a defining trait, so we asked about hers and apparently “being a tall ginger helps”, honestly we chose her for her looks and kept her for her amazing attitude.. and also she said she’ll bring champagne next time. We are honored to have Kelleigh as issue one’s model of the mag. Okay now look how badass she is! 26
