THE NANTUCKET CHAMBER'S CHRISTMAS STROLL

...is not easily described with pen and paper. Perhaps it's because there is no one singular Stroll experience, and it's hard to capture the holiday feelings that Stroll brings. We are fortunate enough to have 47 years of Stroll history to reflect on, and while each year comes with small evolutions and adaptations, there has been one consistent, steady pillar the entire event is built on: Community.

Originally, Christmas Stroll was simply the local business community joining forces, keeping shops open for a few additional hours, allowing island residents to do their Christmas shopping without needing to cross Nantucket Sound. Since then, it has grown to include the transformation of our entire island into a Winter Wonderland. The warm sense of community felt around Stroll is the combination of many individual elements. Around town, storefronts transform into artistic showcases. Restaurants serve up innovative dishes featuring local ingredients, alongside inviting festive libations. Lining the streets are hundreds of Christmas trees, each one uniquely decorated, representing our diverse and electric island. Walking through our historic district can feel a bit like strolling back in time.

Nantucket is also much more than just our picturesque downtown. With hundreds of acres of beautiful conservation land to enjoy, and shops and restaurants dispersed around the island, we encourage visitors to Ride the Wave, bike the paths, or hop in a cab and explore the entire island.

On Saturday, December 3, Shop Santa's Village - Stroll Marketplace will return, featuring local makers, chefs and other members of our community. Grab a bite to eat, connect with artisans, pick up a few gifts, and then stroll up Main Street to enjoy a variety of local talent and musicians. Santa Claus will be coming to Town in style, escorted to the docks by the U.S. Coast Guard, and paraded up Main Street on a beautiful antique fire truck. The sights, sounds and tastes of Nantucket will be on full display this Stroll!

Providing a beautfiul backdrop is only part of the allure. This Winter Wonderland provides an opportunity to connect with each other. Stroll is a chance for our local residents to reunite with friends and family, and for the island to welcome in visitors from around the world. Together we join to celebrate our collective love of Nantucket, all while supporting local businesses and community members.
