teelcase is the world’s largest office furniture company (approx 2.75 billion USD sales last year) and has been around for a 100 years, offering its consumers a range of workplace products, furnishings and services. The company has been in India for a few years now and recently opened a new WorkLife showroom in Hyderabad. With sales significantly higher than what it was last year and encouraged by market feedback, Steelcase is on the verge of inaugurating a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility near Pune. With this new plant the company hopes to rationalise prices, reduce delivery cycles and have a larger range available to its customers that will be manufactured locally. “Every piece of furniture will be made to order and the lead time from placing the order to the time it is shifted out of the factory will be 9 working days,” said continued on page 2
