bout Lynne... Design is my playground, be it toying with web design, digital manipulation, drawing cartoon characters especially manga, sketching real-life, creating postcards or fiddling with typography. And when I have free time away from art, I love to read from fiction to novels such as Marley and Me and Twilight. I’d try my hands on story writing, digital photography, watercolour painting and maybe a little baking and cooking. Catching a movie and window shopping or even spending time with my family makes great past-time activities and a good source of inspiration for me besides surfing the net or sticking my nose in the library

Citra Javanese and Aziz’s Dream Namecards These are namecards made in request by Capstone Pte Ltd. The spa required colours with a more earthly and skin-tone look while have modern elegance that would attract younger customers, while adding a touch of Javanese pattern which makes it look like the traditional batik. Meanwhile, the namecard for Aziz’s Dream requires a more friendly approach that suits the nature of its logo which has the smiling and waving figure of Aziz the chef. It also retains the neat and professional feel that is unique from other prata stalls.

Myopia Awareness Campaign This is a proposed campaign for Singapore as not only a large percentage of the population suffers from this but myopia is also gradually occuring at an even younger rate. Thus the campaign aims to create and awareness by utilizing the MRT advertising elements. This was done as a group project which includes creating the logo and identity, as well as designing the advertisements like the banners (seen above), rail- hanging brochures, window posters and side-panels of seats, as well as floor decoration. The red gradient also refers to the bluring characteristics of myopia while the sombre colours of red, white and black emphasises on the seriousness of the situation. .................................................................................Reaching for the Boundless Limits of the Imagination
Nanyang Executive Centre (NEC) Rebranding NEC is situated in NTU which offers facilities for events like seminars while also providing foreign visitors a comfortable, hotel-like place to stay. As a group project, we redesigned their inconsistent and gaudy-looking corporate identity in time for the Singapore Youth Olympics, to one with more elegance and style while still retaining the NTU design restrictions. We successfully managed to create a fresh look that ties NEC to NTU, yet unique enough to set it apart. We used a blue and white theme instead of the usual additional red, and a “reflection element to emphasise on their pleasant, polished and professional services. The collaterals, which were mainly for the guest rooms, include an in-house directory, luggage tag, roomcard holder, DO-NOT-DISTURB sign, instructional and promotional sheets, brochures, postcards and a folder to hold everything. .................................................................................Reaching for the Boundless Limits of the Imagination
NEC Postcard How to you create a montage of pictures without making it messy? My answer was inspired by Piet Mondrian’s DeStijl art “Red, Blue and Yellow”. (Ist:Front, 2nd: Back)
NTU Postcard The red circle links NTU as an important element to Singapore’s development. The position of the stamp at the back is replaced with the orchid hybrid that was created to represent NTU, and it is also often used in NTU souvenirs, thus adding another heritage into the postcard. MAGAZINE INSERT AND DIRECT MAILER The interactive concept for both is the same to get a repetitive effect for branding. The introduction for the brand can be seen at the back. It holds the basic concept of the spinner which retains the anticipation of expecting something new. The user keeps turning whioe revealing “nothing’s new” type of comments till he/she reaches the last 2 circles that reveals the logo and location of MAKI. It utilizes the same look and feel of using minimal colours.
MAKI A project to create our own unique brand and product, MAKI is inspired from the need to balance both work and play in such a globalised and fast-paced environment. MAKI’s mission and vision seeks to combine functionality and creativity with the use of our trademark gamespinners, creating a new generation of products that brings quality fun to the otherwise dull and routine everyday objects. The logo is derived from the Japanese word まき ( ma-ki ) which mean “spiral” or “to turn”. This reflects how MAKI looks at the world; through different unique perspectives. This can also be seen from the use of game spinners as our selling focus. .................................................................................Reaching for the Boundless Limits of the Imagination
MAKI Gamebook To cater to students, MAKI’s series of GAMEBOOKS turn notebooks into a portable game collection complete with a decorated cover and gamespinner, three MAKI boardgames and magnetic gamemarkers that is easy to use and keep. It also keeps you awake with every spin and game which is also specially designed to be played alone or with friends and each game will last no more than 15mins for a quick refreshening of the mind. With MAKI, you can work and play anytime, anywhere. (Top Right: Magnetic gamemarkers are kept in a cut-out compartment that goes through the pages. “Freedom” Reflecting on the controversy of the Iraq War, this postcard collection creates an awareness that war is never a good option. The arabic word for “freedom” is written with bleeding barbwires. With in-depth research, each postcard contains a lie the US government has made. With each postcard, you “reveal” the truths to “release” the cycle of this meaningless war to gain “Freedom”.

TYPOGRAPHY
CLOX Typeface Design Postcard Designs utilise the basic shapes of boxes and circles. A coded template, when pulled out will form the message “HI HOW ARE YOU”. An indication box beside the 3 cutout circles on the envelop will tell the user when to stop pulling the template. Behind the template, lines are also provided for user to write on, thus, when sealed in, halp of the message can be seen through the back of the envelope which is consistent with the idea of hiding and revealing.
Top Left:
Front of postcard, says “HI” Top Right: Back of postcard with see-through half. Bottom Left: Says “YOU” with indicator box ‘on’ as white. Bottom Right: Full view of the coded message template.

BEMBO The Scholar
Bembo Personality Typography Poster The image of Pietro Bembo, the first user of the typeface, is seen here made up of characteristic words of Bembo; Legible, Light, Harmonious, Formal, Splendor and Inviting. And since it was made as a menuscript typeface, the poster had a rustic and pure feel of an ancient old scholar and cardinal. .................................................................................Reaching for the Boundless Limits of the Imagination
Pixie Typeface Design and Poster The serif display typeface was inspired to be a modern version of the art noueau style of typography of intertwining whiplashes. It gives a romantic and fantasy feel, hence it’s name and the use of a common idiom from “Romeo and Juliet” in the type application above.ge. .................................................................................Reaching for the Boundless Limits of the Imagination
PHOTOGRAPHY
Wayang Street Photography A series of black and white photographs showing the glamour of the backstage and the disappearing beauty of the culture.
The Ironic Dreamer Self Portrait This portrays a desire to escape from reality while the face on the book refers to putting on a persona, living the life of a character you really want. Yet the open hands and empty space around her illustrates her surrendering to a fantasy she knows is not real, and the reality of it would crush her dreams.
