Roslyn hoops star Beamon weighs future
SWORN IN
Decision looms on whether to play overseas or in Las Vegas BY B I LL SAN ANTONIO While he is home in Roslyn Heights for the next month, George Beamon has some thinking to do about the future of his basketball career. Coming off stints with the NBA Developmental League’s Oklahoma City Blue and Texas Legends, affiliates of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Dallas Mavericks, respectively, the former Roslyn High School and Manhattan College standout is considering whether to take his talents overseas or to the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. “I’ve just been working out, still trying to perfect my craft and work hard,” Beamon said. It makes me work Continued on Page 48

Roslyn trainer brings ‘wiseguy’ roots to screen BY B I LL SAN ANTONIO Growing up in an ItalianAmerican neighborhood in the Corona section of Queens, Peter Guadio lionized the actors who brought to the silver
screen the wiseguys he knew in real life — the De Niros, Pacinos and Stallones who instilled in him a sense of pride for his heritage. “You see them and you say to yourself, I have something inside of me that I need to get
out and put on the big screen like they did,” said Guadio, now of Douglaston, Queens, a longtime personal trainer and security professional who has steadily built his own Hollywood resume. Continued on Page 48
