Carlo Prinzo re-elected as vice president at reorganization meeting By C h r i st i a n Araos

Manhasset School Board President Regina Rule was re-elected board president and Carlo Prinzo vice president at the board’s reorganazation meeting on Wednesday. Trustee Patricia Aiken cast the lone vote against Rule. The vote for Prinzo was unanimous. Prinzo and Trustee Ann Marie Curd were also sworn in for new three-year terms following their re-election victories in May. Prinzo was unable to vote in the May election after having been hospitalized with a bleeding ulcer that required nine blood transfusions and put him into a coma for five days. At the board’s regular meeting, the board accepted a $1,606 gift from the Manhasset Community Against Substance Abuse to help fund the CASA Youth Committee Advisor. They also accepted

gifts from the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association and the Archangel Michael Church Ladies Philptochos to pay the stipend for the advisor of the Hellenic Society Club. Both gifts are exempt from pension and payroll taxes. Superintendent of Schools Charles Cardillo informed the board that hiring for the next school year was significantly ahead of schedule compared to last year. Cardillo said the board is moving forward with the hirings of two foreign language teachers. “We’re in the process of finalizing those positions, just doing reference checks,” he said. Cardillo added that the board will add on teachers for app development and for math inclusion at Manhasset High School and that those hires should also take place this summer.
