Tuomey leader sets tone for changeover BY JIM HILLEY jim@theitem.com Though a light drizzle initially chased the flag raising ceremony for Palmetto Health Tuomey, Chief Marketing Officer Todd Miller said the hospital’s dignitaries were able to complete the task when the rain subsided. could at least watch out of a window. “We put a message over the PA system inviting people, if they were able, to come to the windows and watch the lowering of the flag,” he said. “The word went out, and as we looked up, all the windows of the hospital and the medical office buildings and all the crosswalks were filled with people. “As Michelle (Logan-Owens) received the Tuomey flag and held it up to everybody, it was a special moment,” he said.

Miller said the enthusiasm shown at the flag raising speaks to the graciousness of people at the Sumter hospital. “It was a special time for everybody in the organization who couldn’t be down here to hear speakers and such,” he said. The feeling at the hospital Friday was that of optimism and buoyant energy as the era of Tuomey Health Care System came to an end and that of Palmetto Health Tuomey began.
