Hendon United Sports have blown the Premier Division title race wide open after defeating league leaders Maccabi London FC 1-0 at Hadley FC.

HMH head Maccabi by three points after a double header against relegation-bound Faithfold White.

Oakwood are also in the mix after North London Galaxy forfeited their clash.

Hendon’s super sub Gav Noe scored the only goal of a hard-fought clash against Maccabi.

The match was in the balance until the end but eventually the defending champions took the points.

Hendon’s David Garbacz was delighted with the win after a couple of disappointing results.

“We proved today that we aren’t finished quite yet,” he noted. “We were on our game and made it difficult for a top Lions team to get into any rhythm. We defended brilliantly as a team and when the decisive moment came Noe rolled back the years with a superb finish.” Garbacz added, “It was a beautiful feeling to win an important game, hopefully it should set us up for a strong finish to the season.”

Maccabi’s Max Kyte was gracious in defeat. “It was a deserved win. In a game of fine margins, they had the edge.”

HMH scored a hatful of goals against relegation-bound Faithfold that could prove decisive in the run in. Sharpshooter Oscar Wagner scored five goals in both matches.

Wagner bagged a treble in an 8-0 win with Ethan Krell (2), Dom Feldman, Ariel Rahamim and Thomas Prais also hit the target. Wagner was then on song in a 6-0 victory. Krell, Alex Moss and Sam Monjack completed the scoring.

HMH boss Avi Goldberg was thrilled how his side bounced back from a midweek Cyril Anekstein Cup defeat to Maccabi.

“Another match, another Wagner hat trick as we take a key six points to top the league,” he said. “Credit to Faithfold for putting up stout resistance particularly in the first half of the second match.”

HMH are in the box seat but have no game on Sunday. They will look out for results of Maccabi vs Galaxy and Oakwood vs Jewdinese. If results go to form an exciting finale to the league awaits.

North London Raiders eased to a 5-2 win against Jewdinese.

Hertswood Vale lead the way in Division One after a 1-0 win against Temple Fortune.

Vale came into the match knowing a win was essential and a Harry Graham’s header from a Jordan Harris corner secured top spot.

Vale boss Jacob Emmanuel noted, “We weren’t anywhere near the level we should be at. We got away with the points when it very much looked like a draw was on the cards.”

Vale’s victory followed a huge midweek triumph against Club De Chigwell. Hertswood came from 2-0 down to defeat the pre-match league leaders 3-2 with a James Millet hattrick of penalties.

Millet tucked home his first after the CdC keeper saved from the spot, but his other two were clinical.

London Bears are two points adrift after a 7-0 triumph over Paris Saint Jewmain.

The Bears crucially have a match in hand and are a point ahead of CdC in a titanic title and promotion battle. Sharpshooter Zacki Doumou bagged five goals and Sam Martin a brace.

“The league is in our hands but we will have tougher tests in the remaining six games,” said boss James Harpin.

FC Team’s clash with CdC at the weekend was postponed just before kick off due to a pitch being available. The decision was particularly tough on the Essex side who made an early start to fulfil the fixture.

Brook Farm Rovers came out on top 2-0 at Faithfold Green.

Stoke Salmon lead the Division Two table after FC East London Bees forfeited their clash.

But NWL Azzurri are back in the title race after thumping Redbridge Jewish Care 8-0.

Zak Jackson hit a hat-trick, Ollie Miracco, Danny Miracco, Josh Levi, Ben Rosen and Josh Sarna-Star also scored.

“We controlled the game, it was another top class performance from every Azzurri player,” noted Spencer Saffer.

West Hendon Wallabies picked up another win with an impressive 4-1 win against SPEC.

Cameron Hough, Arian Osmaniq, Benjy Harta and Marcus Godfrey scored for the Wallabies who have grown into the season. Ricky Lawrence scored a consolation for the visitors.

Wallabies boss Gad J. Harari, commented, “A brilliant performance from our team, we controlled almost the entire game. SPEC lost their heads at 3-1. “

Hampstead Ducks defeated Straw Hat Pirates by 4-1 at home.

MJSL update

Haroldeans are three points from clinching the Manchester Jewish Soccer League title after thumping closest rivals Manchester Maccabi 3rd 9-0 at Brooklands.

Marley Rubens scored four goals for the Merseysiders who all but sealed the title. Adam Shiffman and Nathan di Ginaccio bagged a brace apiece and Jack Bookey got his name on the scoresheet.

Jewventus defeated Broughton Park Rangers 3-0 at Frederick Road. Shimi Moses scored twice and hit the woodwork, Jack Isaacs sealed the win.

United penalty heartache in final

Manchester United suffered Europa League final heartache last night when they lost to underdogs Villareal 11-10 on penalties in Gdansk, Poland last night.

Reds keeper David de Gea missed the crucial spot kick after his opposite number Geronimo Rulli had edged the Spaniards side ahead for a dramatic victory.

A poor game saw Gerard Moreno open the scoring on 29 minutes before Edinson Cavani equalised early in the second half for United.

Neither side could find a way past resolute defences as the game finished 1-1 after extra time.

For Ole Gunnar Solksjaer a first trophy as manager still eludes him. United finished runners up in the Premier League and have qualified for the Champions League but this result is a huge blow.

Villarreal had never won a major honour. Manager Unai Emery has won this competition for a fourth time so his team play in the Champions League next season.
