RARE FASHION SENSE HOLIER THAN THOU : MODEST DRESS SENSENS AN INTERVIEW WITH BILIKISU MK BALARABE OF BEE CLASSIC COLLECTION Interview: Tell us about Bee Classic. Bilikisu: Beeclassic collections is to aggressively develop and market a full range of collections to customers, the company intends to market it’s line as an alternative to existing clothing line and differentiate itself through its marketing strategies, exclusiveness and brand awareness, Beeclassic intends to build on its core portfolio of products and overcome any obstacles by using the company’s expertise in the fashion industry.the company’s goal in the next year is to make an overwhelming impact in d fashion industry and create large consumer demand for product.the company’s goals is to License a line of cologne and perfume, footwears, under wear, beddings, juwelry according to standard and poor’s (s&p’s). covering up doesn’t have to equate to looking boring or avoiding trends. I love having fun with clothes as of late: colors, prints, layers, etc. What I don’t tend to do is show too much skin “Modest dressing is about choice, about beautifully styled pieces that resonate with the wearer and provide an exceptionally fashion-forward approach to being in-season. The term modest fashion can be interpreted a number of different ways. However, it is typically used to describe clothing that conceals rather than accentuates the shape of the body. The clothing can include hijabs and burqas, as well as tops, trousers, jackets and dresses that feature a modest cut.
35
RARE FASHION SENSE Interview: How has been the experience ? Bilikisu: Fashion Design is definitely a tough and competitive field, but
it’s also really creative and exciting. I would encourage you to explore it if you’re passionate about it! Interview: What has been your motivation? Bilikisu: My personal motivations for getting
into this business were mainly my love for drawing and the fact that I loved clothes.each time I wear cloths from my collection I get lots of compliments from pple particularly in school I always had very particular ideas about what I wanted to wear-- sometimes I couldn’t find clothes I liked because I have a different taste from what others want so I would design my own and convince my uncle to sew them for me. Eventually I decided to go into fashion design to make a career out of it while am still in school.. It’s pretty and a pretty unique field because it’s both a business and an art, which was really appealing to me. Couples with school and all that, I still love what I do. I get to sketch, see my ideas come to life, and I get to travel to interesting places, I even get to go shopping to find ideas. INSTAGRAM : @beeclassic_collections FACEBOOK : bee_classic_collectionz WHATSAPP : 08184093825
36
RARE FASHION SENSE Interview: What has been your challenges so far? Bilikisu: The downside of the industry is that it’s very competitive
and starting out you don’t always get paid a lot. And since the industry is concentrated largely in abuja, lagos and portharcourt (as well as other cities overseas), there are fewer job options in some cities. They definitely exist, but can be harder to find, so you might have to be a little flexible on where you’re willing to live. they are challenges that hinder
our success in the fashion industry. It is hard for up-and-coming designers to find a platform to showcase their work. It is all about being well connected in the fashion industry, who you know counts. Getting your work out there let alone your name may be difficult if you do not have the right connections. Availability of fabric Not enough funds Lack of business skills Distribution challenges Getting good manufacturers Interview: Whats your advice for other up and coming fashionists? Bilikisu: If you’re on the fence about committing to studying fashion,
I would suggest taking an evening or weekend class from a local art school that offers intro fashion design classes and see how you like it. Or sign up for a sewing lesson #BeTheJink. THANK YOU.

RARE ART-ITTUD Rare Young and full of energy Is the teenage mind, Despising the rules of adulthood, It sets off to explore alot, Some of which ought to be of no good. From around the world, The society we live in, The pressure and the weight on the shoulders of teens have changed the morals of their lifestyles, Causing a certain veer from what's basic , To seeking the assumed normal. This modern world now full of lies, betrayal and deceit. Will they rise when beaten down, like the days of old?, Or would they shut their minds, While this cruel world sucks them in?. As hard as it gets, no matter how many lies told and sold, the betrayal and all that. There is always going to be a rare soul, Like the calm after the storm, So will be the ones that will bring forth the difference we need, The hope of today for a better tomorrow. Š SpunkyClown

. RARE CULTURE & TRADITION
Cultural Affluence
Affluence means great wealth and abundance, such as the great riches found by ancient explorers who exploited the new worlds of North ,East,West and South.
THE TIV CULTURE LOCATED IN THE WEST AFRICA NORTH-CENTRAL NIGERIA. WRITTEN BY MR. LUBEM ABOH 95
. RARE CULTURE & TRADITION
There are numerous submissions about the origin of Tiv people. I shall however be in agreement with Torkula - the late ‘Tor Tiv’ that: “Although different views are held about the Tiv origin, the version that commands popularity and currency is that which traces their origin to the Bantu people who once inhabited the Central African continent, in the Shaba area of the present Democratic Republic of Congo.” The popularity and currency of this version is due to the assorted pieces of evidence supporting it. One such piece of evidence is seen in the instance where R. C. Abraham compiled a list of 67 Tiv words and juxtaposed them with the words of Bantu Nyaza showing a striking similarity in both phonetics and semantics. Based on that, Abraham concluded that the Tiv were “real Bantu” and subsequently that they came from the Congo. Another linguistic piece of evidence has to do with the present writer’s family name of Tsenôngu which is Tiv and which when ended with an “o” (as done by many Tivs without any semantic harm) is the name of a town of 300 000 people in the present Democratic Republic of Congo. Such pieces of linguistic evidence testify to the fact that the Tiv actually migrated from the Congo; from there they passed through several places before settling in the Benue Valley, their present location.
96
. RARE CULTURE & TRADITION In detail, the Tiv wandered through southern, south-central and west-central Africa before arriving at the savannah lands of West African Sudan via the River Congo and Cameroon Mountains. “Coming down,” as they put it, they met the Fulani, with whom they still recognize a joking relationship. The Tiv came into contact with European culture during the colonial period. During November 1907 to spring 1908, an expedition of the Southern Nigeria Regiment led by Lieutenant-Colonel Hugh Trenchard came into contact with the Tiv. Trenchard brought gifts for the tribal chiefs. Subsequently, roads were built and trade links established between Europeans and the Tiv. But before construction of roads began, a missionary named Mary Slessor went throughout the region seeing to the people’s needs. The Tiv national attire is the black-and-white-striped 'Anger'. This was chosen to honour their heritage when they acquired the skill of the loom, reminiscent of the zebra animal they used to hunt for meat and skin when they arrived at their current location several centuries earlier. It was then used for their ceremonial attire. Initially, it was a simple cloth to be draped around the torso. Nowadays, it is made into elaborate robes, such as those worn by the traditional rulers and elders - from the Tor Tiv downwards. The blackand-white colour of the necklaces worn by the traditional rulers has been chosen to match the robes.
97
. RARE CULTURE & TRADITION Common Tiv music and communication instruments include: Kakaki: This is an instrument used to convey specials messages to the people of the community. This instrument was used to convey all the messages to the people to assemble at the square for the ceremony, as well as when there is an enemy attack on the community, a warning sound of the Kakaki is blown to alert those whom can defend the society and every citizen to be alert. Ilyu: A light wooden instrument, it was used to pass messages to the people of the village, probably for the invitation of the people for a particular meeting of the elders at the king’s palace or for the people to gather at the market square for a message from or by the king.it is now used as an instrument to indicate the death of someone. Imar: Instrument made of wood and named by the number of holes on the face of the instrument. Indyer: A heavy wooden instrument carved out of mahogany trunk. It is used especially during festivals of masquerades, yam festivals with music to pass messages for the ceremonies, celebration of good harvest for the year. Akya: It is used together with Agbande (drums) combined with Ageda at festivals to pass a message across to the people for a call for the display of culture. It is believed to have originated in the early 1950s but was made popular at about the late 1970s. Adiguve: It’s an instrument like a violin, used for music and dances in conjunction with Agbande (Agbande) at festivals and dance occasions, sometimes to announce the death of a leader or an elder of the community, during this period it is played sorrowfully for the mourning of the dead, most time it is played funerals. Gbande: Agbande (plural), a set of crafted wooden musical instrument used to compliment agbande at festivals, this is particularly large and it is played by the young men of the community, the special drum beats communicates special messages and music for the festivals to come and during the festivals, for instance, signifies a royal occasions such as the coronation and funeral. Kolugh ku Bua-Cow Horn: This is an instrument made out of cow horns, in my communities, there are farmers' associations that use this instrument when they have job to do, probably they are invited to make ridges on a piece of land, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the association will use this medium to wake up the members for the work they have for that day.
98
. RARE CULTURE & TRADITION
The main occupation of the Tiv is subsistence farming. They regard yam farming as their birthright and commit themselves to its work with religious dedication, while the inhabitants of the riverine areas engage in fishing as their primary occupation. The Tivs are famous for their cheerful and hospitable disposition as well as rich cultural heritage. BY Mr. Lubem Aboh @lubem24

THE JINK FUN STORIES AN INTERACTIVE SECTION WITH MARV_BERYL RARE MATTERS: LOVE ,SEX & ROMANCE ATTITUDE SteadyMotives: marv_beryl....#asuming DURING A THREESOME YOU DISCOVER YOUR BAE/BOO IS BI.. WHAT WOULD YOU DO? Marv_Beryl: i should know who I will be doing a threesome with, I shouldn't start discovering when we all are supposed to enjoy the moment. Finding out someone is Bisexual doesn't mean something to me, I see it simply as another sexuality.. it's not something I should get wowed about because It would even make a threesome much more interesting because everyone gets satisfied at the end, think about it. SteadyMotives: hmm...interesting....ok....#ASUME.. AFTER the fun,YOU DISCOVER YOU PREGNANT.... Marv_Beryl: if based on the first answer, I don't have a problem with any sexuality but if after a threesome with my boyfriend and his friend, I find out I am pregnant..... hahaha, it's difficult to dig though but that baby is going to be having multiple love from multiple parents, just joking.but I will talk to my boyfriend about it, see how he takes the information in and his reaction to my pregnancy determines what should be done next..I don't have an emotional business with boyfriend's boo except the baby's DNA says you are a Dad. However, as the pregnant person here I would be disappointed in myself though, I am being honest here. I will be disappointed because it was about pleasure with two other persons and not a Good ground to have a baby. Thank you. @MAR_BERYL ON SOCIALMEDIA OGU CHINENYE MARVELLOUS
