THE OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF UP ADVERTISING CORE

As a formal welcome from Juiceletter to the future members of AdCore, we present an issue full of testimonials and advice on how to give it your all in your application process directly from the people who have gone through the same thing – the current members. It’s a #FlashbackFriday for most of us, but to you applicants, it’s something we hope would give you the drive to face the last 2 months of your “learning experience.” Happy reading! Therese Aseoche

Cinderella s t o r y Back in 2012, I remember never having enough space to tambay with all mems and co-apps. There was too much furniture that hogged all the little space AdCore had, the floor was always dirty with food and beverage stains, and rats and roaches weren’t out of the ordinary. As semesters rolled by, I’ve witnessed the constant relayout of furniture, the disappearance of some, and the appearance of others newly-bought.

But something happened to the AdHouse while all the members were away enjoying the 4-month summer break. Its very own Fairy Godmother appeared in the form of Mayrick Ong who decided that “Enough is enough. It’s time to pimp this room.” With the power of his small Chinese eyes, he and his cleaning army transformed what was becoming a storage room into a true home worthy of its consistent perfect cleanliness rating.

Only time will tell when our precious tambayan will find its other half (that is, another half of a room). One thing is certain: mas masarap nang matulog sa umaga. Thank you, Team AdHouse! Therese Aseoche

Hi there, anonymous person. I take it since you asked me

its hard to get people to do things for you if you sound bossy,

are masungit or approach them like your best friends when you

really aren’t (aka feeling close). Because admittedly it works or

can work with some people, but I think these can only take you

so far. Eventually, hopefully sooner than later, you should

really try to get to know the person/s better because what might

work for someone, might not work for another (I think

this would be especially helpful if you’re working within teams).

I remembered writing a paper on this for Eng 10. It was on procrastination and how it is an inevitable thing; that no matter how much you try not to procrastinate, you’re still doing so by putting one task ahead of the other. Don’t worry. There’s a solution for that. It’s called “prioritizing your tasks”. You can weigh out whether task A is more important that task B and/or C. If so, you can go ahead and do so. Otherwise, do task B/C/D/

If its really hard to get a “feel”of how a person wants to be directed, then I would suggest just asking that person directly. There is a way of bringing up how you do things and finding a certain compromise or common ground with how other people do things as well. Because what we feel might be working, might not always be accurate and so to lessen miscommunication, I would suggest just putting it out there. Timing, i think would also help. If you already know the nature of your request, evaluating how long it will take for a another person to do it will help you in knowing when to ask. Because for sure, if you ask a mem to do something heavy and give them limited time, not only will you feel guilty but also suffer the thoughts of a mem feeling angry or annoyed towards you. —Sabrina de Ocampo

4. Engineering Fate or “Yung pantasya mo nangyari nga, pilit naman” Because of weeks of stalking research and having created a network of trusted CIs you can now arrange a meet. Information is constantly flowing. You are aware of what’s happening around you. Experience is on your side as you are able to react on the changes within your environment. You are now on the cusp of being an expert stalker spy. Arranging a meet is easy if you are cozy with the person but it is extremely hard if the person does not even know that you exist in his world. 5. Spend Your Free Time at AdHouse or “Thank you for reading what I wrote” At the end of the day it does not take a spy to actually complete a sigsheet. Rare mems will always find time to go to the AdHouse even if it just to say hi to old buddies. Just keep your eyes open and never be shy in asking who just came in. It also helps if your buddy parents are Connectors because your sigsheet days will be a breeze. Having the sigsheet is important because it provides us the opportunity of saying hi to each other because even in that brief moment we know that we belong to the same team and the same family.
