Christopher Deangelo Lewis- Bingham, known affectionately as CJ, was born on April 27, 2005, in Memphis, Tennessee. He brought joy, love, and laughter to his family and friends, and his light shone brightly throughout his life. Christopher was an ambitious young man, often found in the company of his beloved Xbox or on the basketball court, shooting hoops with his brothers. He was a graduate of Overland High School, Class of 2023, and had high hopes for his future. He was known for his resilience, having overcome chemotherapy in 2013 after a brain condition diagnosis in 2011. His loving spirit and the unique bond he shared with his family, especially his dear friend Trevor Jackson, will forever be remembered.
In the words of Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Christopher was the embodiment of this quote. His humor was infectious, his laughter was a balm to the soul, and his resilience was inspiring. He had an unwavering love for his family, and he was never happier than when he was in their company. He was a beacon of light in their lives, guiding them with his strength and love. His favorite comfort food was cornbread, a simple joy that brought him immense happiness. Despite the trials life threw at him, Christopher always had a smile on his face, reminding those around him of the beauty and joy to be found in everyday moments.
He was preceded in death by his great grandfather, Lenwood Johnson, Sr.; cousins, Deandre Lewis, Raeshaud Jackson Jr., and Dominick Johnson.
Christopher is survived by his loving parents, Natoya Smith and Bryan Smith Sr., and his siblings Bryan Jr., Nickalus Smith, and Samayah Bingham; grandparents, Lenwood Johnson, Joanne Lewis, Joe Bingham, Keith Smith, Elizabeth Olum, Helen Stillwell, Lonnie Lewis, his aunts, uncles, cousins and family dog, Maggie, mourn his loss alongside his parents and siblings.
