REMEMBERING XION
We celebrate the remarkable life of Xion Exavier Culp I, fondly known as Xi, born on July 28, 2006. Xion was a beacon of courage, vitality, and kindness in our lives, whose memory will always radiate in the hearts of those who knew him. He carried an adventurous spirit and a contagious enthusiasm that touched everyone he met. As an active participant in the Faith Community Baptist Church, Xion's life was a testament to the verse, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13)
Xion was a smart, loyal, and dedicated individual whose accomplishments resonated in every facet of his life. As a Rangeview High School graduate, Xion was applauded for his academic prowess, earning the Most Outstanding Student of the Year Award 2022-2023 and being a multiple Honor Roll student. He demonstrated his leadership skills as the captain of the football team, earning the title of Defensive Player of the Year 2022-2023. After the passing of his best friend Tavion Daniels, Xion wore Tavion’s #1 football jersey to commemorate him. His athletic prowess was also evident on the track, where he ran the 200m, 400m, and the 1600m relay. Beyond academics and sports, Xion was passionate about video games, particularly on his beloved PlayStation 5, and his motorcycle. Xion was accepted into CSU Pueblo, Metropolitan State University of Denver, and a college in Florida to major in Criminal Justice.
Xion’s altruistic nature shone in his work as a Service Leader Manager at Chipotle Mexican Grill and by mentoring troubled youths at The Rock Center. He served with commitment and love at the Faith Community Baptist Church, giving his time to the women's ministry revival and participating in the homeless outreach every Sunday. Xion’s courage and quick thinking were demonstrated when he rescued a woman from a burning car and a little girl stranded in the middle of the street, showcasing his readiness to help others at all times. He was the embodiment of love, strength, and resilience, always striving to do better, and his memory will forever inspire us.
Xion is survived by his loving mother, Deidrea Jones, father, Frederick Culp, bonus parents, Kyanna James and Richard Paige II, and his siblings, Laila Mitchell, Ryann Jones, Xaivion Culp, Xaiviax Culp, Deon Sneed, Keleise Futrell, Richard III, and Raymond Paige; grandparents, Lawanda Jones-Streeter & Ronald Streeter, Eddie Haywood & Kathy Haywood, and Shirley Robinson.
He is preceded in death by his great-great-grandmother Dorothy Trammell, greatgrandmother Rose Culp and his best friend Tavion Daniels.
