Getting Started... 6

Expression of Interest

Marriage Requirements

Reverend Geoff Everett will be your first point of contact. To express your interest in marrying at The King’s School, please contact him on 9683 8434 or email at geverett@kings.edu.au.

a. A ‘Notice of Intended Marriage’ form must be completed no less than a month and a day before, and no more than eighteen months prior to the wedding date.

You will then meet with our Chaplain. In the first instance, you will meet with the Reverend Geoff Everett informally so you can get to know each other. In this meeting he will explain the marriage process and provide you with a checklist and information pack. This is the time to ask questions about personalising your service.

b. The birth certificates of both the bride and groom must be sighted by the officiating Minister before the wedding. c. A declaration form will be provided by the Minister and must be signed by both the bride and groom before the wedding ceremony. This is usually done at the rehearsal.

Booking Mrs Jo-Anne Kite will coordinate bookings, payment and official paperwork. She can be reached on 9683 8588 or by email at jkite@kings.edu.au. Once an enquiry is lodged, she will get back to you with the availability of the date and time requested. You will also receive a letter detailing payment to reserve your date. Use of the Chapel and other facilities are available for the celebration of marriage of Old Boys and other members of The King’s School community. Other individuals may be given permission to use these facilities at the discretion of the Headmaster.

Photos

Rehearsal

Photography on the grounds and within the Chapel is permitted. We are happy for photos to be taken prior to, during and after the ceremony, but we ask that flash photography be kept to a minimum. We also ask that other buildings on the property are not entered, as many of these buildings are home to students and staff.

A rehearsal will usually be held the Thursday night before the weekend of the wedding. The time will need to be confirmed with the officiating Minster or Chaplain. It is helpful, but not necessary for the bridal party to be in attendance.

Alcohol/Smoking Alcohol is not to be consumed in or around the Chapel and its surrounding area. Smoking is also not permitted in any part of the School.

Chapel Viewing To view the Chapel, please make arrangements with the Chaplain. Viewing times will be outside school hours.

We had the perfect wedding day at The King’s School – every part of it was elegant, beautiful and magical. The sandstone Chapel is breathtaking and historic, and we were very impressed and grateful for the ceremony service provided by the School’s Chaplain. The grounds of King’s and Gowan Brae also provided a timeless and stunning backdrop for our wedding photos. We would absolutely recommend saying ‘I do’ at The King’s School.” – Saxby Brown (‘97) 9

We knew that we wanted to get married in The King’s School Chapel. My time at King’s, and the fact that I met my wife Caitlin during my last two years at school, made it wonderful to go back to where it all started. The ceremony was intimate and personal, setting up the day perfectly. The beauty and heritage of the Chapel itself made it a stunning occasion that we will remember the rest of our lives.” – Joseph De La Hoyde (‘09) 10
