What responsibilities does your rank entail? ADJ PAYNE “I will make sure that all leaders of the TKSCC fulfil the aim of providing the quality education and leadership expected in the TKSCC. I will also make sure that everything is going well.”
MESSAGE FROM MAJ NOWLAND
RSM MASON “I am responsible to ensure the best drill, dress, discipline of TKSCC. I am also the eyes and ears of TKSCC. With CUOs and other leaders, I will make sure everyone is doing their job well and help each other.”
What was your favourite experience at TKSCC ADJ PAYNE “One of my favourite experiences at TKSCC was my first AFX. I enjoyed so much doing activities and trekking with my friends and it was a unforgettable memory.” RSM MASON “My favourite experience at TKSCC is the passing out parade. I enjoyed doing drills with other cadets and showed to others how good looking our school is.”
What advice would you give future cadets?
“TKSCC is only a once in a lifetime opportunity. Try your best in TKSCC all the time and you will receive the award that you deserve.”
What is your advice for all cadets? “Do your best, look after your mates and have a good time. If you do those three things, each one will feed the other and cadets will be a really rewarding fun. Put in and just remember you are mentoring and building young men of tomorrow, just like you are a young man of tomorrow.” What is your view about the coming year of cadets? “I think our leadership team is the best we’ve had in such a long time. I think it’s a really, really strong leadership team that is going to make this year great! They will push the whole community forward. And if we keep this standard, the TKS Cadet Corps will be better and better.”
MEDIA & DESIGN INITIATIVE This year's Media & Design initiative involves logo-making where 1st year cadets are put into groups to design a logo for their platoon to be printed onto company shirts organised by the Padre. Our initiative teaches cadets the skill of how to make a logo and what makes a good or bad design. Today, the cadets were given a chance to bond with their whole platoon together as they practised their teamwork and creativity.
PADRE'S WEEKLY BIBLE VERSE Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 This extract from Joshua 1:9 calls for strength, courage, and perseverance in the face of challenges such as AFX. It emphasises that we should not be afraid of anything because God's presence and support is always with us. The bible verse tells us that individuals such as cadets can overcome obstacles and move forward with confidence in training parades and AFX.
SPECIALIST PLATOON SPOTLIGHT Medics PL COMD: CUO ADRIAN ZHUANG What is Medics’s role in TKSCC? “First aid, medical assistance, and ensuring cadets' safety are all part of the Medic's job during training and AFX. We provide members of the cadet corps with fundamental medical care, tend to minor wounds, and promote their general wellbeing.” What does Medics do? “We always treat and help injured cadets and cadets who need help with their mental wellbeing. We also inform other cadets how to treat injuries or accidents that can happen in TKSCC activities.” Why should you join Medics? “Being a Medics Cadet is a highly contended role in the TKSCC, as being able to treat injuries (and eat) every training parade and at AFX is extremely important to TKSCC and yourself.”
1st Year PLATOON’s FIRST TRAINING PARADE Today was the first training parade of our 1st Year Cadets. Entering TKSCC, they learnt the drill movements which are the most basic and important in the TKSCC, used every training parade and passing out parade. All the CUOs of 1st Year Platoons are looking forward for 2023/24 with their first year cadets and hope they can improve their skills and leadership. CUO Alex Rowntree “I hope all of these cadets will learn the skills 100% and transform it to leadership and pass it along to future cadets” CUO Will Rogers “My aim for this year is that all the cadets can enjoy their time in TKSCC and AFX23 this year. I hope they can enjoy being with me and be future leaders in Corps”
