Over the period of your time in the Corps, how do you think you have evolved as a leader?
CUO J. Harrison
“I think I've changed, going through the corps experiences myself, leading the boys to experience the same things as I have. It shows that I’ve completed the same things as them and creates a sense of trust and a strong character.”
CUO R. Kamdar
“When I first started I was very anxious as a leader I didn’t know how I could lead, towards the SLC I found my footing and I grew my confidence establishing myself as a leader.”
CUO J. Napoli
“In my time in corps, my leadership has evolved, starting as a cadet and being mentored by a great sergeant and CUO moving through the ranks and all those roles combined to be the leader I am today and I am really grateful for the experiences which have shaped me.”
CUO S. Molineux
“I think I’ve evolved a lot as a leader from starting corps in Year 8 I evolved through the rank system, from a corporal to a sergeant, to a staff sergeant, and a CUO, these experiences really helped me establish my place as a leader and built a good foundation for me.”
What is your advice to cadets this year?
CUO J. Harrison
“Give everything a go, give everything 100 percent, you don't know if you like it until you’ve experienced it.”
CUO R. Kamdar
“My advice is just to give it a go and have an open mind, if you come to cadets with a closed mind you won’t enjoy or reap the benefits.”
CUO J. Napoli
“My advice to my second-year cadets this year and rank is to challenge themselves. I think that our greatest growth as cadets comes when we push ourselves outside our comfort zones”
CUO S. Molineux
“Delve into what corps is and get the most out of it, even if that means experiencing new things, maybe flying a drone for the first time”

KING’S AT CHIEF OF THE ARMY TEAM CHALLENGE 24
CUO Daniel Xia’s Experience at CATC-24
This year’s Chief of the Army Team Challenge (CATC-24) was an unforgettable experience for those that participated. Consisting of ten people of rank and a few cadets, CUO Xia went to Brisbane and completed numerous obstacles with a team. Within the camp, CUO Xia competed against teams all across Australia, within his own team, CUO Zhuang who was a part of the NSW second brigade comprised school based units Thus, other students from Barker, Trinity Grammar School and Kings partnered up to take on this challenge.
Our team formed the NSW second brigade that competed against other brigades from Western Australia, South Australia, and the Northern Territory. The challenge spanned over five action-packed days, with the first two being focused on team-building as we got to know each other, whilst simultaneously learning about the obstacle courses we were expected to undergo. On days three to five, we embarked on a trek that was similar to AFX. Each location we were at, there were certain activities as each group had approximately two hours to get from Point A to Point B where the groups were marked on how well they got to each assigned location as a platoon, and their platoon’s morale.
CUO Daniel Xia’s CATC-24 Trek Experience FEATURESTORY
Over the 2 days on trek, groups slept in the bush, and did roughly 12 activities, on the last day they trekked back from their day-night operations to base camp When reaching base they completed an obstacle course consisting of a race between 3 teams going up against each other at the same time, which was timed where all the points were added up where the team with the most points won the competition.
CUO Daniel Xia’s Experience at CATC-24
“I enjoyed the activity and would definitely recommend it to cadets
I think obviously it's not about how you feel because it is a team activity, and it is about teamwork, but it depends on your teammates. If you have a good team that works well together while keeping morale high, and if you can have strong communication between one another, then you can definitely perform well”

What is the role of Training Platoon in TKSCC?
The role of Training Platoon is to facilitate the training of first and second year platoons in fostering teamwork, communication, and various cadet skills through hosting presentations and team initiatives.
What does Training Platoon do during Training Parades and AFX?
Training is split into three sections since the platoon covers a broad aspect of cadet development. The Nav section is in charge of running navigational exercises for platoons so they are well-prepared to navigate, as required in AFX. The General section consists of a circuit-style activity in which cadets will go around the school, completing five activities ran by us that range from cryptic code breaking to cadet trivia and physical exercise. The environment section of training host information presentation and survival initiative for the boys and puts out weekly weather reports for the unit.
Why should people join Training Platoon?
“You should join Training Platoon, as you get to train the boys in crucial skill sets that they will need for AFX. If you become part of Training Platoon, you will become proud of the moment when you see the sections that you hosted an activity for are actually putting the skills they learnt to use and bonding better as a team This year there are a range of activities covering various cadet skills and are not only limited to the physical fitness of cadets.”
What did you think of the Training Initiative?
CPL A. Nassibian 1PLT
“It was quite good, we worked together as a group and got through it pretty fast.”
CDT A. Haldankar 1PLT

TODAY’S WORDS OF INSIGHT
This week marks the 107th anniversary of Beersheba. These men were scared, tired, and far from home. Despite this, the Australian Light Horse leaped over the Turkish trenches. They did not win their battle out of spite for their enemy, but for whom they were serving; Australia.
