The King’s School Uniform Guide

Our uniform is more than just a set of clothing; it’s a symbol of our collective identity, reflecting our commitment to excellence, equality, and respect for all.

Instilling a sense of belonging and pride

At King’s we believe in fostering an environment where pride, respect, and belonging are not just ideals, but tangible aspects of everyday life. Our uniform is more than just a set of clothing; it’s a symbol of our collective identity, reflecting our commitment to excellence, equality, and respect for all.

With meticulous attention to detail, our uniform embodies the values of our school community. From the crisp lines of our blazers to the branded, hard-wearing sportswear, every aspect of our uniform exudes professionalism and pride. We understand the importance of a smart appearance, not only in shaping individual perceptions, but also in instilling a sense of discipline and self-respect in our pupils.

Wearing the King’s uniform signifies being a member of a community where high expectations are not only encouraged but celebrated. Promoting equality is at the core of our uniform policy. Regardless of background or circumstance, every student is treated with the same level of dignity and respect. It’s a visual representation of our School values where every member is valued and respected.

Respect for oneself and others is a cornerstone of our school ethos, and our uniform plays a vital role in promoting this value. By presenting ourselves in a smart uniform, we demonstrate our commitment to respecting ourselves, our peers, and the institution we represent.

In this brochure, you’ll find detailed descriptions of our uniform items, along with guidelines on how to wear them with pride and confidence. We invite you to explore our collection and join us in upholding the traditions and values that make King’s a place where every student can thrive and belong.

Our uniform supplier is Stevensons; an independent, familyowned business offering outstanding customer care. They offer a cost-effective uniform (3% cheaper to parents than our previous supplier), comfortable fabrics, which are also durable, and an ethical approach to their purchasing, manufacturing and distribution activities.

Uniform standards: setting high expectations

A high standard of personal appearance is expected from all King’s School pupils and uniform should be clean and well maintained.

Students are required to wear the School uniform throughout the day when travelling to and from school and on all occasions when they represent King’s off-site.

We strongly advise that every item of clothing and equipment is clearly marked with the pupil’s name so if mislaid it can quickly be returned to its rightful owner.

An ethical approach

Stevenson’s policy is to purchase goods and services that have been produced and supplied by workers who have been treated in a fair and legal manner without exploitation. The laws of the land in the country that their goods originate from are the absolute minimum expectation and often Stevenson’s demands are higher than the legal requirement.

They also seek to source fabrics with the least negative impact on the environment. One particular area of success is selling uniform items which are made from used plastic bottles. Each garment uses a varying number of bottles in their production. For instance, it takes 18 bottles to make a blazer. To date, over 1.2 million bottles have been saved from landfill!

Their branded carrier bags and mailing bags use 100% recycled and 100% recyclable plastic.

Purchasing uniform

Families can purchase school uniform and sportswear via the Stevensons website, or over the telephone. They offer a 180 day returns policy to exchange unused uniform.
