A LEARNING
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM is
BENEFICIAL for all
Students 20 | August 2021
www.theknowledgereview.com |21
I
n every educational institution, there is an imbalance in the student-teacher ratio. The number of students is far more exceeding than the number of teachers. This imbalance causes many hindrances for teachers to reach out to each student. This may eventually hamper the students' learning experiences. Here is where a learning management system (LMS) steps in. It evaluates a student's performance, adapts to their learning needs, and provides personalized solutions to their problems and queries. Moreover, in today's technologydriven age, teaching methods also have to embrace digital means of instruction. An LMS helps teachers to keep proper track of the quality of online educational content provided. It also provides the option of review sharing. This way, if any user is not satisfied with the quality of the content, they can write a review stating the same. How can an LMS be Useful for Young Students? An LMS provides its fair share of benefits to the students. It assists the students in taking their learning to the next level. The following reasons explain why an LMS is useful for young students: Scholarly Planning An LMS provides the scope of both session and resource management. It offers tremendous flexibility to the users (professors/teachers) who can share the course overview and lesson plans to the students at any time and at any place. With its successful implementation, students can engage in active learning. Hence, students not only absorb knowledge passively but can also suggest preferred modules that can be included in their course. This makes classroom communication an interactive two-way procedure. Building and Regulating Asset With built-in applications such as word processor, spreadsheet, and slideshow presentations, an LMS gives the opportunity to create different course materials such as test papers, questionnaires, and a lot more. With an LMS in
22 | August 2021
action, students and teachers do not have to waste too much time and energy in order to create different content. Teachers can also add and edit various archives as per their requirements. Tracking and Overseeing Purposes Based on the application of the course material, an LMS presents actionable and relevant reports on the performance of both students and teachers. Along with its bag of advantages, an LMS also introduces certain disadvantages in terms of management and delivery of content. For example, LMS only responds to users' petition without paying attention to the requirements to take the learning process to the next level. This continuous development in technology has led to the creation of Proactive Learning Management System (PLMS). This is a smarter LMS, which not only helps in overseeing and tracking, but also helps students in understanding how they have performed. PLMS vs. LMS PLMS is far more advanced than an LMS in terms of delivering excellent learning outcomes. An LMS only answers a user's request or command; however, a PLMS is designed to deliver a productive outcome rather than simply replying to directions. Experts believe that PLMSs work on the behalf of the user and their own initiative, without any instruction from the user. With a PLMS, the users can get a constant evaluative report of the user's online interactions. This makes learning a continuous process, and critical effort is put to fulfill the predetermined learning objectives of pedagogical theories, including situated learning, problem-based learning, and so on. For better outcomes, any educational institution or ed-tech company should have the proper infrastructure to create PLMS. They should also emphasize providing the required support to run it efficiently. Game-changing results can be obtained if augmented reality and virtual reality digital content are included to make the most of the digital medium.

The institution undertakes uplifting the surrounding villages in association with MHRD, Government of India under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan scheme, and various other schemes of the central government are actively implemented. Working Under the Shadow of Pandemic The COVID-19 pandemic compelled the global and abrupt conversion of conventional face-to-face instruction to the online format in all educational institutes. The five pillars of highquality online education are learning effectiveness, student satisfaction, faculty satisfaction, access, scale, and cost. The institute is effectively working towards achieving optimum implementation of these pillars. The conventional pen and paper exams have given way to MCQs, group discussions, online assignments, one to one oral exams, etc. Turning the Page Going forward, the institute intends to focus on work-based learning, multidisciplinary programs and a dual emphasis on engineering design and self-reflection, to the extent permitted by the affiliating university. It is also focused on achieving autonomous status, which would help to design socially relevant and outward facing engineering curriculum.

ithin the youth football sector of the sports industry, holistic development is at the forefront of planning, training, and growing players. Coaches and technical staff are constantly looking to push players beyond their limits in helping them perfect their abilities. The process of coaching is in fact so immersive, both physically and emotionally, that the significance of coach development is often overlooked as a tool for player development. But better coaches make better players - it's that simple.
While India's international football ranking rises and falls typically within a genuinely lowly range, there do exist a number of youth football institutions that are showing great success. They do so by influencing the quality of their football performances via guided coach development - an extension of the famous guided discovery concept, simply extended to coaches and mentors. However, it is in the manifestation of this guided coach development where organisations have displayed creativity, efficiency, and a productive rebellion against how things used to be done, in order to achieve surprising results. So, what are some of these guided coach development strategies that we could all learn from? Let's explore certain processes that extend the learning environment beyond players, to coaches and mentors.

Weekly meetings that are footballspecific and highly technical enable a learning platform for sharing experience across coaches – a valuable tool for professionals whose success is often determined by their level of 'experience'. A weekly presentation or discussion creates an environment that breeds frequent collective ideation amongst coaches. Topics can include modern trends in the game, a coach's own methodology, player assessment strategies or even exciting patterns of play. Clashes of ideas and disagreements in such meetings give coaches the chance to solidify their coaching voice and ideas while challenging their knowledge of a particular subject. It's a simple tool with impressive long-term results.
The recent emergence of digitized coach assessment tools within the youth football landscape has taken guided coach development into new territory. Up and coming Indian coaches now have the chance to develop their coaching styles in an entirely empirical manner, by recording and analysing their coaching language, their body language, even the quality of 'coaching moments' they provide. A number of Bangalore-based football academies have acted as the testing grounds for the development of such digital tools, and the long-term potential of these apps seems limitless as Indian football develops. Leadership structures within most private football entities in India are
relatively hierarchical in structure. However, by breaking up the overall responsibilities of running a football development program, and assigning additional charges to each coach, some football academies have drastically increased their coaching output. These academies enable an out-and-out decision-maker for each team (usually a Head Coach for an age group), in turn, supported by Head Coaches from other age groups who take over dataheavy processes like opposition scouting, individual player assessment, injury risk assessment. This leaves each Head Coach's efforts for their teams streamlined and backed by a crucial second pair of eyes. More impressively, this further allows coaches to share experiences – it creates a dynamic leadership structure that is complex, modern, and breeds team spirit. What is truly beautiful, is that the players experience this as a smooth pathway to a real future in football, with comprehensive support across all his / her footballing needs. Experimental management structures have often cropped up on the international stage, and with Indian coaches learning to be football savvy, it is only a matter of time before we see such new age approaches to coaching and player interaction. One such idea involves the use of two Head Coaches, with one taking part in the training sessions as a player, and the other running the session as a coach. This would increase the amount of information available to this coaching
Guided Coach Development duo drastically – they could more easily gauge player emotions, collective mentalities and individual player responses to each situation, from both inside and outside the paradigm of coachstudent relationships. All in all, the future of Indian football seems all the brighter with these methods to guided coach development. Our constant endeavour to imitate Sunanda Dassuccessful footballing nations, in terms of both player and coach development, has created a simple yet powerful hope for all involved in the Indian football landscape. After all, motivated coaches translate to better coaching and, therefore, better players.

ngineering is the application of knowledge to the most efficient conversion of natural resources to human needs. Engineering is associated with a large amount of specialised information; professional practice requires significant training in the application of that knowledge. To train such a cadre of professionals, imbibing them with accurate knowledge, and inculcating the right skills and competencies into them, we need institutions that nurture the journey of talented young engineering aspirants and holistically guide them on their journeys. We need institutions like the Islampur-based Rajarambapu Institute of Technology.
Rajarambapu Institute of Technology (RIT), Rajaramnagar, formerly known as College of Engineering, Sakharale, was started in 1983. Located near Islampur, 7 kilometres away from Peth Naka off Pune-Bangalore highway, RIT has a beautiful green campus of 17 hectares and buildings on it measuring 54,000 sq. m. (2017). She has contributed to a book chapter in a book published by IFEES and GEDC for Global women leaders titled ‘Rising to the Top’, published in 2019. Challenges then and now Like many illustrious institutions making their way to the top, RIT had to also go through its own unique set of trials and tribulations since its inception. Continuous faculty development through training ‘Need Analysis’ is a big one. RIT also had to make tremendous strides to get industry-institute liaison, to get PhD qualified faculty to maintain the cadre ratio, and to develop a cell on community services project. Additionally, the institute faced the following types of challenges: Ÿ

foster the successful implementation of active learning tools in delivery and assessment. Soon enough, RIT delivered 100 per cent of its syllabus by online mode with the help of ICT tools like MS Teams, Zoom, Moodle, Slido, etc. During delivery, more focus was given to interactive sessions with the help of active learning tools like brainstorming, quizzes, project and problem-based learning, collaborative learning and many more.
Assessment was conducted by online mode, in which open book tests and MCQs were considered. To avoid the malpractices, proper care was taken by appropriate design of question papers and faculties were trained for the same. Aspiring to Create Innovators An institute that is connected with the industry in such a way that the graduates passing out from the institute must have problem-solving skills, character, creativity and an ability to enjoy working whilst generating innovative solutions: that is the future
“We need to focus on making the education multidisciplinary, creating the campus as a product innovation and development centre with start-ups,” remarked the Director of RIT. “The emphasis ultimately should be to prepare a graduate engineer for higher studies or to take up a job in industry or become an entrepreneur. Thus, the vision to make our campus as a creator of holistic engineers, who will professionally connect with the society and think of developing the community around them, will lay the groundwork for the world’s future,” concluded the astute leader – Dr Mrs Sushma S. Kulkarni.

ngineering is a field that gives you the vision to create something new or recreate something from existing things. Ever wondered about how an airplane flies, how a building can stand strong, how can a drone fly and capture beautiful pictures? Well, one simple answer to it is engineering. Yes, engineering is one of the best fields to work in. We crossed paths with this amazing institute - Sanskar Educational Group (SEG) - that is grooming future engineers with excellence in education. This renowned college believes in making students responsible citizens and not just engineers.
38 | August 2021
A way towards creativity Director of the college, Prof. (Dr.) Vinish Kumar, threw a light on various courses that the college provides and how it reached to its present stature. The Beginning Established in 2005, Sanskar Educational Group (SEG) spread over 20 acres of lush green campus under the aegis of Shree Ganpati Education Society, has carved a niche for itself just within a decade. Today it is considered a ‘Centre of Excellence’ for those aspiring to undertake higher studies in the domains of Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy, Management and Architecture.

he current pandemic has forced everyone to stay indoors and find efficient ways to study and work from home. During such challenging times, online classes have emerged as a boon. They have simplified teachinglearning processes while enhancing communication and making education more interesting. Online courses are more convenient and cost-effective than traditional courses. However, it becomes difficult for many students to attend classes from home - maybe they have a pet to take care of or may have to wash the dishes.
keep away any object that could distract them. For example, they should keep their phones in another room, refrain from using social media, avoid watching television, and so on. If students stay away from social media for a while, they will not get distracted. Especially during such times, when the entire internet is flooded with news related to the coronavirus, reducing internet and social media usage is better for students' emotional and mental well-being.
In such situations, students can follow certain procedures to ensure that they study effectively from home. These have been mentioned below:
If students are still tempted to use their phone, they should mute the notifications from social media and other nonessential apps. This way, there will be less distraction, and students will be able to complete their assignments and study thoroughly for longer periods.
Creating a Study Schedule
Creating a Dedicated Study Space
Students can set a reminder or an alarm of sorts to make sure that they log in for their online classes at the right time. It is essential that they administer proper time management. Apart from attending regular lectures, students should also ensure that they make their own time for review. It is even more important if they review some of the course materials on their own.
Students can select a certain area at their homes which they can associate with studying. This will help them easily to get into a productive state. However, students should avoid using their bed or sofa. These spaces might be comfortable, but they are not good for enhancing one’s productivity during studying.
Calendars, Post-It Notes, and Reminders can be Helpful Online classes follow a structure similar to that of regular classroom sessions. Accordingly, students should create a study calendar to gather information about important examination dates or deadlines for submitting assignments. Students can save a schedule on their computer or mobile device. Productivity apps can Make Things Easier In today’s digital age, almost every task can be made easier with the help of an app. There are numerous fantastic productivity applications and extensions which simplify studying or working. These apps help track the students’ progress, organize tasks, set reminders, or direct other apps.
A simple table and a comfortable chair are what students require to carry out their academic activities. However, using a room that has perfect lighting and ventilation will do the job. Students can also personalize the study table with favourite figurines, pictures, motivational quotes, and so on. This will motivate students to concentrate and delve deeper into their studies. Studying at home may seem to be a daunting and complicated task. However, the above-mentioned tips can help students in generating better results and enhance their productivity. Moreover, taking regular breaks and using free time to do productive activities can lift the mood of the students. They can engage in cooking, play games, or pursue an online course whenever they are not studying. During the lockdown period, students can not only study and excel in their academics but can also develop their overall skills and personality.
It is Essential to Avoid Distractions In order to ensure effective study sessions, students should

Shoolini’s achievements in research: In 2020, Scimago’s global ranking listed Shoolini at 536 and 32 amongst the world and Indian institutes respectively, based on research. Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) rankings also featured Shoolini as 2nd rank in research in India and 14th rank in Asia for its 2021 ranking.
In September 2020, an annual report released by the Office of Intellectual Rights, India, the first in the list of patent filers are the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). However, the patents filed by all the 23 IITs in the country have been merged to declare the group of institutions as the top patent filer. This makes Shoolini third in the country, and first in Himachal Pradesh, in filing patents by academic institutes and universities across India. The Indomitable Leader Dr Khosla (the Founder) firmly believes that no institute of higher learning can become great without research. It was this concern that sowed the seeds for setting up a specialized, research-based private university. His efforts, along with the team of cofounders like Vishal Anand and Atul Khosla, have helped Shoolini University become a recognized name for research. According to the latest QS Asian Rankings, Shoolini University was ranked No. 300 in Asia. For research, Shoolini was right behind IISc Bangalore in India. In terms of Citation Index, Shoolini University stood No. 1 in India and No. 14 in Asia. Overcoming Challenges Shoolini University started with a small seed capital and grew organically to become one of the leading institutions of higher learning in less than 10 years. A challenge was to invite young students to join a university that was not located in the cities. However, with the green and safe environs, Shoolini University quickly became a university of choice for students from all over India. Today, 60% of Shoolini University’s students come from outside the country. The institution is proud to have almost every state of
