boy with a Manchester United's T-shirt cheering for the team with a poster of Ronaldo – a common picture in India, such is the passion for football in this country. A decade ago, if someone asked which sport do Indians play, cricket would be the most obvious answer. However, it has changed from past few years with football making strong impact on Indian youth. Establishment of several football leagues in India penetrated the world's most famous game into all parts of the country. India has evolved from a cricket-monopoly nation to a multisport country.

The past century wasn't that great for the football sector in India. However, Indian football players like Bhaichung Bhutia and Sunil Chhetri made a strong impact on Indian youth with their impressive game. It is evident that whenever any team or player of a particular sport makes an impact on global level, that sport automatically gains the attention of public. With the likes of Indian Super League and U-17 football world cup arranged in India, many young players emerged with great talent. Similarly, many sports academies were established with the aim of making future superstars in the game. Ardor Football Academy (AFA) is one of the prominent name in
that list, working on its initiative – 'Football for All'. AFA was set up with a single point agenda to develop football at grassroots level in India and currently runs the largest and the most intensive well researched community soccer program in the country impacting more than 4000+ lives. The bitter fact of zero penetration of any grassroots football training academy in Eastern India, which has a rich sports culture, inspired the AFA team to start the organization. The academy was primarily focused on under-privileged kids through free training, thereby channeling their negative energy into

something positive through the tool of football. Mission: Right to Play - Football for All Vision: AFA aspires to become the largest grassroots community - football academy in the world through its 'Football for All' campaign. AFA aims to have 2,00,000 active cadets PAN India by 2031. Core Values: AFA's low cost with high impact module is based upon core values like fairness, equality, discipline, professionalism, perseverance, and respect. Players in the Making AFA's high-impact training module is designed to create an assembly line setup to deliver international level players year on year. Its international training module develops multidimensional aspects; tactical, technical, physical, mental, and social. The academy does not only focus on
AFA is committed to take care of player's nutrition, equipment, and gear requirements along with focusing on their physical and mental health through periodic health checkups and counseling free of cost. The academy focuses on its USP – free grassroots football training for all. Its high impact training module, free focused training for government schools and community, coach development program, and education integrated programs makes AFA stand apart from the competition. Inspiration Behind the Goal Post High adrenaline right-to-play activist Jayadev Mahapatra is a social entrepreneur with flair for football and love for kids. He has proved to be a true change-maker devising a sustainable social impact model using football as a tool. He aims to build an eco-system that would develop worldclass football players from the East India region. With 10+ years of coaching experience, he has been spear-heading the community programs free of cost for everyone since 2012. The Offside Challenge The academy focuses on providing community programs free of cost for every interested child. It requires some amount of money to do so. With change of time, it has always been difficult to expand the academy due to the fact of it running free of costs. People and government have always been supportive to the academy's initiative, but financial constraints have always been a barrier for expansion. However, AFA is working beyond its
limit to fulfil all the needs of players. The Golden Gloves The academy is working hard to generate players of a highest calibre. And the hard work paid off some fruitful achievements in the form of successful and high achievements players such as Ÿ 2016: Chandan Nayak selected for Bayern Munich U15 Ÿ 2017: 20+ Cadets selected for Youth I-League Clubs Ÿ 2019: 4 Cadets elected for India U15 National Camp, Ranjan Soren won U15 SAAF Championship for India Ÿ 2020: 2 Cadets (U-16) signed professional contract with Punjab FC The Pandemic Penalty The academy has started its operation now and still in its initial phase. But amid the peak time of pandemic, the cadets couldn't access the community grounds for practice. Many tournaments have been postponed or cancelled looking at the devastating waves of the pandemic. AFA's training programs for government school hostel kids were deeply affected due to the pandemic. The cadets had to return home across districts with no other alternative. Restrictions of lockdowns didn't allow players to come and practice. On the other hand, the academy was concerned about the safety of players. Hence, to avoid the chances of infection, AFA stopped its programmes and trainings. Future Goals Action speaks louder than words. AFA has been continuously pumping in cadets from under privileged society into national team and different clubs.

AFA's high-impact training module is designed to create an assembly line setup to deliver international level players year on year. Mr. Jayadev Mahapatra Founder, CEO & Chief Technical Head
The administration said, "We will keep doing so exponentially. We aim to create the first truly international cadet player from East India, who would get to play with European clubs. Started with our Coach Development Program, we are soon going to start with Cadet Exchange Programs and Sports Fellowship."
From the Coaching Book Education is not limited to textbooks and online classes but also focuses on the holistic growth of an individual. Sports as a tool helps to devise and improve core values like commitment, discipline, communication, team-player, honesty, accountability, self-confidence, trust, etc. within an individual. Sports being a battle of mind makes the individual more tactful. Sports regulates the physical and mental health along with building strength and endurance. It prepares an individual to face the challenges of life. Sports is an essential part of the student curriculum, which also gives an opportunity to the individual to take up sports as a career. A healthy mind houses a healthy body.

The logical starting point for understanding the link between sport and national development is to look at the fundamental benefits of sport from the standpoint of individual needs. To widen our understanding of sport's role in national human development, we need to pay more attention to its humanistic components. In order to emphasize the importance of this topic, we must examine sport from a broad perspective, focusing largely on sports as a means of achieving health standards and enjoyment. Second, sport should be viewed as a tool for developing strong character and confidence in order to equip adolescents better to face the demands of a competitive world. Third, and most crucially, considering sport from a national perspective as one of the many tools with enormous potential for resolving conflicts and fostering social cohesion by encouraging national unity. When sports talents are found and developed to their full potential, they can help bridge the gap between countries ravaged by tribalism, widespread cancer that has caused strife in many countries. Ethnic conflicts and strife, such as those seen recently in former Yugoslavia, Somalia, and Rwanda, are only a few examples. It is interesting that most countries do not place a high value on sports, although if every citizen were healthy and functioning at their best, there would be a lot of production and, as a result, a thriving economy. In short, sport must be viewed through the lens of national strategic human resources and development. In this perspective, sports science research holds the master key to
14 | March 2022
achieving long-term national sports development. Sports has the ability to capture some of humanity's most fundamental ideals has never been fully used for the benefit of humankind, first and foremost in terms of health and, second, in terms of economic progress. Sport's Impact on Health Standards India has adopted a sedentary lifestyle as a result of the industrial revolution. It is directly linked to primary and secondary diseases such as heart disease, high cholesterol, mental stress, high blood pressure, and, above all, environmental pollution, which is now one of the world's major risk factors. To understand how the human body functions in ideal conditions, we must go back to the basics. This concept is vital because it allows us to picture and visualize what we need to do in order to live a healthier life, which is a critical component of every nation's wealth and progress. As previously said, a high standard of health translates into increased production and national prosperity. We must continually remind ourselves that we are descended from hunters and gatherers of food and that human life has been marked by countless physical pursuits from the dawn of time, as opposed to the sedentary lifestyle we have recently adopted. Sport's Importance in NationBuilding Sport is, without a doubt, the only platform that can bring people together for a common objective other than religion. According to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and International Sports Federations, Sport has the ability to foster world peace.
On the other hand, sports have been used as a political weapon in the past to show unhappiness by boycotting Olympic events. Sports can be utilized to achieve and promote peace efforts at the local, national, and global levels. Because sports have the potential to play such a huge role in the process mentioned above of national development, deliberate efforts to promote and develop sports on a large scale must be made to reap maximum benefits. Unfortunately, this has not been the case since many governments have neglected to budget for sports development. Sport is generally regarded as being only tangentially tied to national development in most countries. Many countries lack a Ministry of Sport, and in their absence, the sports portfolio is thrown in with other government agencies, where the sport is viewed as a purely voluntary endeavor and a luxury that most poor countries cannot afford. It is clear that the function of sport in national development initiatives has not been adequately described or comprehended. Builds and Defines a Country's Identity It aids in the development of qualities such as discipline, determination, teamwork, and a passion for fitness in a nation's psyche. Our lives have become far more sedentary than those of our ancestors following the industrial revolution, thanks to the numerous conveniences brought in by the development of technology. Many of these scientific breakthroughs, which we take for granted, have made our lives much
easier and reduced our physical activity levels. Furthermore, if you become involved in sports, certain attributes such as collaboration, ethics, and sportsmanship become lifelong characteristics. "Only when your activity is joyful will you keep breaching limits," Sadhguru says. Sports is an exhilarating activity; thus, pushing boundaries is normal."
Sports bring
s r e g n a str together.
Final Thoughts It is incredible to hear people claim that athletics can unite a country. Many of us enjoy sports, but we never consider ourselves to be bonding with others around us. Sport may assist in creating a nation in a variety of ways, but it can also be used to destroy it. Different people enjoy different forms of sports, and it is uncommon to meet someone who despises sports because there are so many to choose from. Everyone enjoys competitive play more when there is good sportsmanship. While the goal of winning may appear to be the most important, it also teaches the competitor to be courteous and respectful to their opponent. Sports also help to boost the economy by providing job opportunities through commercial activity. It improves the population's lifestyle and lifespan while also increasing income. Sports have a crucial function to play in the development of a nation.

Though the stories of all sportsmen mentioned above vary, these influential personalities have inspired many people to turn to sports and make a career out of it. In this article, let's explore some of the hidden aspects of India's sports institutes and academies and how they enhance India's outlook on the sports industry. Teacher out the classroom Over the years, many people have pointed out the loopholes in the Indian education system. However, the major loophole that was addressed by many prominent figures is the lack of attention to sports in the educational ecosystem. Most of the students do not continue sports after their schooling years. This is because of parents' mindset, especially in India, were shining out of a population of 1.3 billion is not easy and considering a different career. Sports have also been associated with developing important life skills like socialising, teamwork, etc. In the changing corporate paradigm of business in Indian markets, these skills are said to be very crucial. Sports academies, institutes, and schools, apart from creating professions, also cater to the overall development of people. Hence, sports institutes have become a teacher outside the classroom. physique and indirectly contribute to the mentality. Keeping the professional gloves outside the court, most people play sports for amusement and to keep their health in check. Apart from that, sports schools, institutes and academies cater to creating sports professionals.
The Sports institutes gave such students a way out to enter the sports sector and follow their passion. The institutes focused on producing quality sports teachers, coaches and players that will not only enhance sports education but also boost the growth of sports and physical fitness.
Often the younger generation is heavily involved with sporting careers and academies. This is because of the grooming culture that trains the person in a culture that would ace his game and develop all the necessary skills that would help him make sports professional.
Prioritising Physical Fitness Every sport requires a fitness standard to maintain the consistency and quality of the game to compete at the highest level. Catering to this need of every sport, physical education was also provided by the sports institutes established.
Every player has a significant playing style, may it be a team sport or an individual sport. However, every game requires professional players to master that one skill they are good at, but what gives the tag of 'Professional' players the contributing attributes that help them to refine their game and be better at what they are doing.
There were prominent physical education providers already present in the Indian education system. However, due to the increasing demand for physical educators increased, sports and physical education institutes were set up to make India fit again.
Sports institutes emphasise more on discipline, training, and ethics. Sportsmanship is equally important as the quality of the player serving the main reason why sports bring people together; sports academics bring that emotional and value-added factor in the payers that make the ideal sportsman which the world bow down. Glorifying Personal Choices Being in a diverse country with a huge population, there is always a chance that some people's personal choices will be tampered with. With saturation point reaching the breakage, students went to explore different fields following their passion.
EndNote Seeing the rise of popularity in sports and physical education, even the Indian government started to take initiatives to support the kind gesture put forth by the changing education paradigm. Other than these niches developed by the sports education providers in India, sports institutes have enhanced India's quality of sports and physical fitness.
