The
Art Art Managing!
of
IIn a world where corporates define
the shaping of the human race going forward, it has been seen that managing people is an art. In this commercial world, delicately making a fortune of both privileges and necessities, managing business is considered an essential trait that many business tycoons worldwide constantly search for.
Moreover, an organisation comprises a pool of people that defines, redefines and expertise various domains, collectively working toward a common goal. While people's lives consist of constant ups and downs, nobody knows when the next problem might kick in.
As a company is entitled as a separate entity, the lines from 'The Brook' by
Alfred Lord Tennyson completely resemble the working structure.
'For the men may come and men may go, But I should go on forever.' This philosophy has been organisations' motto for centuries, and this philosophy has converted startups into bigger-than-life companies. And that raises the most asked question, 'Why is it necessary to understand humans, the organisation structure and work accordingly?'
Well, the answer to this lies in the process that releases the company's momentum to move forward. Moreover, just like life should move ahead without pause, the companies should also go on as some of the other people's lives and businesses might be dependent on it.
And since companies are made up of a pool of diverse men and women, human complexity is a factor that requires management.
The need for management studies was found to be necessary to keep the companies growing while satisfying the human factor attached to them for smooth functioning. Universities across the world soon launched
institutes for effective management that would tie both ends of a knot to complete the circle of business and organisations.
Since then, the world has witnessed a roller coaster ride in the commercial space. And the education sector has also evolved and broadened its wings to stay relevant to the changing business paradigm across the globe.
While some institutes and colleges have made a name for themselves in management studies over the years, for this edition of The Knowledge Review, we ventured out on the quest to find ' The Most Prominent Management Colleges of the Year, 2022.'
These colleges are defining the modern study of management to make it The Art of Managing.
Let this edition serve its purpose and guide you to what you are looking for; moreover, look at the articles curated by our in-house editorial team to enlighten yourself about the latest trends in management studies.
Have a happy read!

Institute of Management
The Principal of the College of Management, Prof Vijaya Kumar, is an able, efficient and dynamic leader who has won widespread appreciation in the professional arena.
Over the years, Ebenezer Management College has developed its own distinct identity. Established in 2010, It is the primogenital management college in Bengaluru, India. While speaking about the same, Prof Vijaya Kumar asserts, "The hallmark of this identity is not to walk on the compacted path but to strike new routes; not to benchmark, but to be benchmarked; to be second to none, but to be the first to respond to the needs of the people and the nation; taking up tasks that are bold, but necessary, that which upstart has hitherto taken up."
Ebenezer Management College has always had and maintains a global outlook. We were the first among management schools in India to internationalise our academic programmes. Renowned personalities, distinguished industrialists, academicians and stewards of Bengaluru Ebenezer Management have been part of the institute as leaders,
administrators, faculties and guides. True to its vision, Ebenezer strives to offer an education that just does not culminate in a mere degree but inspires future business leaders to respond to the unmet needs of society.
Leading the League
As the management of the institute suggests, a critical characteristic that differentiates Ebenezer students from other management colleges is a distinction - a quest for the best, never settling down for mediocrity and always aspiring to excel. They relentlessly strive for more, for something better than the best.
Ebenezer Management College is a top-performing College in Bengaluru. Aside from outstanding academic success, the college, its faculty, staff and courses have won numerous prestigious awards and accreditations in recent years. This shows that quality and excellence run through everything the organisation intends to do, making it the best choice for students and other associated agencies.
Innovation in Learning: Cryptocurrency, Blockchain Technology and AI
Motto
Ebenezer committed to building a better nation through Quality Education with team spirit.
Vision
Ebenezer aims to be the centre of excellence education of socially responsible leaders and frontiers for their graduates.
Ebenezer Management College has several University affiliated program such as – BBA General, B.Com General, B.Com Logistics, BBA Aviation and BCA General. Apart from these courses, the institutions also provide some Ad On courses such asCrypto Currency and Portfolio Management, Data Science and Block Chain Technology, Aviation and Port Management and many more.
These advanced Ad On courses hone students to expand their expertise in scpecialised fields which has great future prospect.
For an example, as Prof Vijaya Kumar explains, "Students can benefit from crypto by learning what it is and why it is here. Purely on the fact of being technically literate coupled with the willingness to learn new things. The crypto space is a fantastic opportunity to understand fiat currency, fractional reserve banking systems and government ties to corps. The knowledge is out there and free to learn. The most beneficial aspect of crypto today is the time you put into it. It may seem to go against the norm in many ways, but that's the value. The time is now to learn how coding and developing programs will impact the future."
The technology that allows selfobtaining learning data where student data like credentials, personal information, and skills learned are stored on a blockchain and not owned by any central administrator like schools or universities is truly revolutionary. Also, a student can store and access the data lifelong and ultimately control the data. Simultaneously this ensures that the data provided by the students are accurate, and it creates their credibility with their employers.
According to Prof Vijaya Kumar, the current innovations also allow developers to train a computer to do complicated tasks. This can help improve the teaching and learning processes; however, it's not intended to replace the teacher or professor.
Artificial intelligence provides some surprising benefits for learners and educators. The opportunities are elaborated below:
Self-paced Learning Opportunities
Youngsters spend a lot of time on the go and prefer doing everyday tasks using their smartphones or tablets.
Artificial intelligence-based applications allow learners to study during free time, spending a few minutes on a task. Also, learners can get feedback from teachers in a realtime mode.
Personalised Learning Opportunities
Artificial intelligence-based solutions can adapt to the learner's level of knowledge, interests, and so on. The system tends to help learners with their weaknesses. For instance, before starting to use an app, the learner takes a diagnostic test; the app analyses the responses and provides suitable learning activities.
Classroom Management Strategies
There are four levels in these methodologies: Ÿ
Level one: Recollection and reproduction
Level two: Knowledge application
Level three: Strategic thinking

Learning Incredible Management Skills
Amanager is the backbone of
organizations! Every employee and organization require a person who can meet their needs and lead them towards growth. As we know, a manager not only helps the firm and employees in achieving its goal but also takes care of the operation of each department in an organization.
Every human has management skills instilled in themselves, as they come across many life challenges, and to overcome those challenges, people need to make many decisions to reach the right solutions. But from where did a human get these management skills? Everyone learns management skills at home and later from schools and colleges.
But the concept of management learning is not new; it was introduced thousands of years ago, probably in the era even before the birth of Christpeople did conduct overseas business and managed all the records manually. If we talk about the best managers, our freedom fighters were pre-eminent examples of proper management and great leaders/managers. They led and
integrated each country's citizens to fight against the British. Mahatma Gandhi was the only freedom fighter who didn't commit any violence while fighting for the country's independence. He co-operated with the common people and led everyone toward the path of truth and nonviolence.
Much before the country got independence, a number of freedom fighters also focussed on education to educate the youth and make them ready to take over the development of the country. A very prominent among them was Dr K.M. Munshi, who worked under Mahatma Gandhi's guidance. Based on his beliefs, Dr Munshi established Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan in 1938, and set up schools and colleges all over India.
Later in 2007, when leadership decided to start a Management Institute in New Delhi, the Indian steel tycoon Shri. Lakshmi Mittal and Smt. Usha Mittal came forward with financial help and support, thus Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan's Usha & Lakshmi Mittal Institute of Management (BULMIM) was born, and started offering AICTE approved PGDM courses. The institute teaches and develops the management skills that help the students become successful future managers. Its robust industry interface helps them place their students in renowned organizations.
In an interaction with The Knowledge Review, Dr M. Durgamohan , the Director of the BULMIM, shared his experience, learning and future vision mission for the growth of an institute.
Background Story of the Institute Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan's Usha & Lakshmi Mittal Institute of Management (BULMIM)was established in 2007 with the support of

the Indian Steel magnate Shri. Lakshmi Mittal, and Smt. Usha Mittal. The institute commenced its operation in the same year when it got approval from AICTE to offer a full-time PGDM course.
The uniqueness of the PGDM course is that it has a dual specialization of equal weightage, as well as the institute has special German language classes for the students. It also has an active student exchange programme with the Universities for Applied Sciences, Dornbirn, Austria, Sprott Shaw College, Vancouver, Canada, Inalco, Paris, France.
The institute is based on the four pillars that are essential for Business School and accountable for the BULMIM's success. The first pillar istheir parent organization Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan which was established in 1938 by Kulpati Dr K.M. Munshi; he was a freedom fighter who learned
These four pillars help the BULMIM to successfully implement the 'Outcome-Based Education' with the attributes necessary for graduating future managers, which has become the driving force of the institute.
The success of the institute leads it to achieve special accreditation such as 'Premier Institution' by ASIC, UK in 2020. It is also renowned for its placement services, as it successfully placed 96 to 100 per cent of students in the last four years, even during the pandemic.
Dr M. Durgamohan- Visionary Academician
It is often said that someone is always behind someone's success. Similarly, Dr Durgamohan is a noble person behind the BULMIM's success. With 18 years of industry experience and 27 years of academic experience, he has taken the institute to newer heights. Apart from his working experience, he has a tremendous academic record and holds a PhD from Dr B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra. He was also an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi.
Dr Durgamohan was an active member in organizing six annual international conferences, strengthening the industry interface, which has been creating employment opportunities for the students. His primary aim is to bring outcome-based education to the institute and incorporate the employability skills in their curriculum.

The Rise of ONLINE Learning and the Stigma associated with Learning Limitations
OOnline learning has shown
Vinita Misra CEO , Charnock Healthcare Institute, Kolkatasignificant growth over the last decade, especially at the time of COVID-19; online learning has become more centric in people's lives. The pandemic has forced the system to isolated working, which has boomed online learning usage. Even before the pandemic, there was already high growth in the online education market, and it was supposed to reach $350 Billion by 2025, which might increase after the COVID-19 scenario. Due to the flexibility and affordability, people are finding online education more attractive than classroom education.
With online classes, you can now complete your MBA from anywhere you'd like—whether from your kitchen or living room, your office, a coffee shop, or whichever room you fancy. Online education has brought all the top and unaffordable institutions to your doorstep. You can do your masters from Harvard University while sitting in a remote village in Maharashtra or Kerala.
Certainly online education has some advantages and thus is getting popular. But is it really better than traditional classroom education? Recently a student of mine who is doing GNM nursing, came to me with a request to leave her course, which she had joined at the time of the pandemic. She has already completed two years of learning and left with just one year of education. Her decision was extremely surprising for me as her academic record was quite good.
After a brief discussion with her, I learned she has no problem with the course but is not comfortable working in a hospital environment. She does not want to deal with patients. She joined her course during the pandemic's time and studied online. She even gave her exams online and cleared them with good scores. But after the pandemic when she had to work in a hospital, interact with people practically, she could not handle it. This was not the only case; many students came with similar complaints. Some students had
adjustment issues with their friends. Some said they are not comfortable working together with their classmates. They are not comfortable sharing their room with their best friend. Some suicidal cases also came up during the pandemic period. Many had gone into depression which still continues.
The isolation and not interacting with people have put them into a shell which is hard to break. Today's kids are comfortable chatting with an unknown person sitting in the USA but not comfortable conversing with their neighbour whom they have seen from childhood. They have a lot of virtual exposure but still lack the confidence to face the world. We need to understand what real education means and why we need to get educated. Is it just reading some topics and knowing them by heart? I may know the world, but how will it help me or anyone else if I cannot use it to develop society? Real education augments us as a person. Erect the confidence to face challenges. Give the power to bring a change in our lives and in society.
Educator's Vision
A child studied nursing, but cannot handle patients. An MBA professional is not comfortable facing clients, then how is the education helping them? Today we all live in a nuclear family, so for any child, human interaction is very little in the family. On top, children are always glued to their mobiles and iPad, which has radically restricted their physical and social movement. The only place where they get to meet and interrelate with people is their school or college. This interaction is an absolute necessity for every child for their physical and mental growth, which cannot be provided through online education. Online education can work as a support system to the traditional education system but cannot be the ultimate solution.

She is a post-graduate in Advertising and PR, and holds 15 years of experience in the field of advertising and brand building. She was also awarded as "Woman Entrepreneur of the Year (Healthcare Sector)" in 2022. For her firm belief in empowering women.
In ancient times even the prince had to go to the gurukul, where they could easily afford homeschooling. The aim was to give them a healthy environment to grow and make them social people. Online education is a great option for working professionals who cannot manage time from work commitments. Online education can do wonders in upgrading knowledge and expanding our network. But when we are trying to shape a child, online learning cannot be their go-to path. The difference between learning and education is microscopic but very crucial. Learning something enhances our knowledge and thus educates us. But education does not guarantee to learn. We need to learn through our education, which can be achieved through our traditional education system with the help of online learning. Only online learning can be a disaster for any individual. It may increase the mental and physical illness among the kids and create a negative impact in the entire society.
How are
MANAGEMENT Colleges
Enhancing the Business Code of Ethics?
Everyone has been taught some
difference between right and wrong since childhood. As one grows, they begin learning more about the right practices and set certain ethics or values in their life, that they won't practice certain things and try to stick with their values and ethics in their whole life.
Similarly, every business is also established with a particular code of ethics that has followed strictly and ensures that others who are joining or working for their company must follow those ethics. If someone tries to violate
the business's ethics, management may penalize one.
But what is the business code of ethics, and who sets those ethics and values? The business code of ethics differs according to the company. Some board members or top management people in every organization set specific rules and regulations for practising any activities.
For instance, recently, Bhartpe owner Ashneer Groover was in the news- as he performed fraud activities with the company. Hence, the board members,
like the company's stakeholders, asked him to leave the organization.
Similarly, many case studies related to violation of ethics and values. As discussed before, business ethics and values differ according to an organization, but still where one can get to know about the basic code of ethics of the corporates.
To learn a business code of ethics, one has to pursue management education as it helps the younger generation to understand business ethics and values. However, it allows them to follow the basic ethics of the organization while joining it. And if one has new business ideas can imply those codes of ethics in their startups.
The management colleges are embracing the students to learn new business skills and providing a great platform to the students for their bright future. However, management colleges emphasize students and support business firms to enhance productivity, smooth functioning, and maintain ethics in their organization. There are various other ways management colleges embrace business performance.
Embracing Sustainability In the developing scenario, business schools enhance sustainability in teaching, practices and research. The Management faculties and environmentalists have been indulging the importance of environmentfriendly products as an ethical practice of an organization.
Many industries have been producing such products which cause harm to our environment, for example, plastic companies. These companies use various harmful raw materials to make plastics, which may cause some severe issues to human health.
However, management colleges help organizations practice CSR activities to sustain the environment.

Improving the Relationship between Employee and Employer
A Code of ethics not only maintains the decorum of the organization but also improves the relationship between employers and employees. Suppose the employee does a great job and follows all the rules and regulations of an organization. In that case, the employees' loyalty wins the trust of their employers, and employers also provide great platforms and immense opportunities to the employees.
Strengthening the Culture of an Organization
As discussed before, management incorporates managerial skills and business ethics in oneself, bringing healthy organizational culture. Apart from these skills, management colleges provide professionals to organizations.
It helps industries to work less on employee training, as unprofessional people require lots of time to understand the company's work. And the students from management colleges get proper professional training during their studies, and hiring professionals enrich the organization's culture.
Increasing the Organization's Profit
While talking about profit, the profit depends on an organization's smooth functioning and healthy environment. To maintain the organization's legacy, everyone looks for loyal, professional, innovative, creative and trustworthy candidates who can help the companies achieve its milestones.
Ending the Discussion Code of Ethics is not only helping businesses to stand out from the competition but also helps one in all aspects of life, because values and ethics play a vital role in building a civilized society. If any business or anyone fails to follow certain ethics and values, they fail sooner or later in life.
Every business stands on the fundamental ethical value, i.e., 'fairness and honesty' with customers, employees, and others who are all connected to the organization.
An organization or a person who strictly sticks to ethics and values earns profits and gains massive respect from society.
