enter Harbor is a charming village nestled between Red Hill and the beautiful Ossipee Mountains. The downtown area offers one of the best views of Lake Winnipesaukee with access to “the Big Lake” and frontage on Winona, Waukewan and Squam Lakes. The town has 1,600 acres of water area for swimming and boating. A number of restaurants in Center Harbor offer dining choices ranging from a casual meal to a hearty breakfast to upscale dining… or a delicious ice cream treat on a summer’s day or evening. Shoppers will find everything from unique arts and crafts to fine jewelry, clothing, home décor, hardware and boating equipment and supplies, wine, groceries, books, quilting supplies and much more. And speaking of quilting, Center Harbor is home to Keepsake Quilting, the country’s largest quilting supply company with an annual sale drawing quilters from all around the country. A local bookstore has an extensive schedule of events, with author book signings and reading clubs. During the summer months, a variety of free band concerts take place at the town’s bandstand. Swimmers enjoy the nearby beach and the M/S Mount Washington (with a winter berth in Center Harbor) pays a weekly call to the town docks. Those who love history and architecture should stop by the James E. Nichols Memorial Library in the downtown area to experience the finest in early 1900s architecture and special features such as original fireplace ceramic tiles and beautiful woodwork.

t one time, Meredith was a farming community and later, a center for the mill industry. Today, the town is bustling year round, with a charming Mill Falls complex of unique shops in a former mill building with more shops nearby. Originally named Palmerstown, the community was granted by charter in the 1740s. The downtown is steps from Lake Winnipesaukee with easy docking. A unique sculpture walk winds through the village and along the water. Nicknamed the “Latchkey to the White Mountains,” Meredith is situated between several lakes yet is a short drive to the spectacular mountains with a wide variety of recreational activities. Meredith has something for everyone – from shopping, dining in a variety of restaurants, craft fairs, community events, live theatre, concerts and water recreation. Come by boat and anchor at the town docks where the M/S Mount Washington stops during the summer and fall. A Pond Hockey Tournament and a very popular winter Rotary Ice Fishing Derby keep things busy in the colder months. Planning a wedding or event? The rustic and elegant Church Landing is located in downtown Meredith just steps from the water and is a very popular place for a wedding or party.

hartered in 1763 by Colonial Governor Benning Wentworth, Moultonboro is well known as home to famed Castle in the Clouds, but it has many other attractions as well. The Castle, originally named Lucknow, was built by businessman Thomas Plant around 1913 and is open to the public with tours, hiking trails, events, a restaurant and more. Moultonboro has the longest shore frontage (68 miles) of any town on Lake Winnipesaukee. The Ossipee Mountains and the lake offer a bevy of recreational activities. Visitors can tour the Castle, stop by the Loon Center where all things loon are on exhibit and wonderful nature trails for hiking wind over the property. When it’s time for a meal, choose from a variety of local restaurants offering sandwiches to elegant sit-down dinners. The Old Country Store waits with a never-to-be-forgotten shopping experience that includes a penny-candy counter, kitchenwares, books, maps, soaps, gadgets and a local history museum. Antiques shops dot the area for those who love a bargain and a treasure. The large public beach on Long Island has swimming classes and a scenic picnic area. Come back in the fall for the unique annual steamboat rally at Lee’s Mill, the brilliant foliage and during the winter for the miles of trails maintained by the Moultonboro Snowmobile Club.
