THE GREAT BRITISH LAND ROVER SHOW is back, signing-off the Land Rover show season in the best way we can – namely with a whole stack of Land Rovers in one location! On Sunday 26 November, the NAEC at Stoneleigh Park will open its doors once again to let all you passionate Landy enthusiasts experience the world’s biggest and best indoor Land Rover show, with two show halls packed full of exhibitors offering the latest and greatest products, accessories, parts and more for your Land Rover. Tickets are rapidly running out with

advanced admission set at £7.50 per person, saving you £5 over the on-thedoor price of £12.50. Upon entry you’ll be surrounded by many of the biggest brands in the Land Rover community – an ideal place to purchase some of those last-minute parts before the big winter project starts to get underway. Before that, though, the Lancaster Insurance-sponsored Land Rover Walkway will greet you with a host of classic and modern Land Rovers, including Veronica Lamond’s Landybook star, Landy.

The challenging 2.4-mile off-road course will be marshalled once again by the All Wheel Drive Club, with tickets for the course costing just £10 in advance, but £15 on the day – so time is of the essence people. Back inside, NWS Motor Services will be running workshops in the morning and afternoon, highlighting some of the many issues encountered on certain Land Rover engines. aised in County Durham and apprenticed as mechanical engineers in Tyneside, two brothers, Bill and Graham Rimmer, started out by buying, tinkering and fettling their own Triumphs. Later, in 1982, they founded Rimmer Bros., which operated from modest buildings at the family home in Lincolnshire. Those were the days when they bought, sold, restored, serviced and provided parts for Triumph, doing all the work themselves, for they had no other staff. The business then grew and many years later, the brothers still own the company they founded, where they now have a loyal, expert and hard-working staff of 65 people to keep the wheels turning. Expansion seems to have been continuous during that time, such that the company HQ at Bracebridge Heath, near Lincoln, now includes 105,000 sq ft of storage space, tens of thousands of stock lines, millions of parts - and now covers the Triumph, MG, Rover, Mini, Rover SD1, Land Rover, Range Rover and Jaguar (1998 onwards) ranges. For years it has been one of the ‘classic’ industry’s leading concerns, which not only offers many parts which can often not

be found anywhere else in the world, but backs this with an amazing record of technical expertise, and a reputation for high-quality service, and for highspeed response to every request. As the British motor industry has contracted, Rimmer Bros. has grown larger, to ensure that many well-loved classic cars, now out of production and no longer supported by their original makers, can still be maintained, restored, and enjoyed. While the support for Triumph strongly continues, during the 1990s the coverage of Rover SD1 models was added, and in the 2000s Land Rover and Range Rover, to include models right up to date. From 2005, our support was extended to cover more modern MG-Rover cars. In 2012 our range was further extended to cover Jaguar models 1998 onwards. 2013 saw the completion of our new warehouse built to the rear of our existing building. It effectively doubles our storage capabilities allowing our bulk Land Rover and MG Rover stocks to be stored on one site. We have also introduced a production line conveyor system into the packing room to increase the speed of order processing and despatch. With the company now well-es-

tablished, the parts inventory at Bracebridge Heath continues to grow, the technical and service expertise continues to match it, and the company’s strategic aim is to improve on that, even further, as space, time, and new marketing opportunities allow. Whether you live in the UK, or anywhere in the world, we always aim to provide the same high levels of service, product quality and customer satisfaction. To do this we not only invest heavily in our stocks, technology, and service response, but we make sure that our staff know all about our products, and our capabilities. Alongside the off-road course, which is being supported by the All Wheel Drive Club, and opened up for drivers to lap round at £10 a go, there will be all the usual facilities of the restaurant and bar and please do remember that your furry friend (the dog) can come along for the day as well.

ngine specialists NWS Motor Services will be sharing their expertise during four live workshops throughout the day. There will be two different workshops, each repeated in the morning and afternoon. Offering an insight into their world, the workshops highlight some of the issues the team face and how they overcome them using their specialist parts. The first session will focus on com-

mon mechanical issues that arise in both the 2.7- and 3.0-litre variations of the Land Rover TDV6 engine. f there is one place you’ll visit and quickly develop withdrawal symptoms from on departure, it’s Llanerchindda Farm. This serene bed and breakfast, perched upon the Car-marthenshire hillside, first entered Land Rover owners’ consciousness under the stewardship of Nick Bointon, as an ideal resting spot just outside Llandovery for green lane adventures. Since those days, the new management partnership of Martin and Lynne Hadley, plus sons Mark and Andrew, has only facilitated the farm’s rise in popularity. The Hadley’s previous experience came at a successful hotel in the Lake District, before acquiring the farm

some ten years ago now. For a real taste of the Llanerchindda hospitality, you’ll need to do just that… taste! Should you arrive there just approaching lunchtime, you’ll be subject to Lynne and Mark’s culinary expertise. The other half of the team are Martin and Andrew, who together oversee the front of house and as with all of the Hadleys, they are more than happy to assist your stay in whichever way possible. Annotated maps, portable sat-navs or even a local to guide you on your way, are readily available throughout your visit. You aren’t taking advice from any old family either, they’re well educated on the do’s and don’ts of green laning in the area thanks to their involvement

With more than enough local lanes in the surrounding area to keep you coming back again, it’s good to know Llanerchindda have plenty of accommodation options for when you finally have to stop for the day. One of the favoured choices should be the on-site cottage which is the place to be for anyone planning a group green laning holiday to the area. The copious amount of green lanes around the farm is what makes Llanerchindda so unique. Your first visit will more than likely see you sample the traditional lanes of Soar y Mynydd and Strata Florida in order to get to grips with the Welsh landscape. However, on a second visit you can dabble in the dozens of less-trodden trails that still come with stunning sights of the countryside.
