Before opening Pepperoni’s Pizza in July 2020, Ogun had worked in the pizzeria business for 5 years as well as had experience working in his family’s diner in Cinnaminson, NJ. He says despite the pandemic being very relevant in July of 2020, he saw the opportunity in the takeout space, especially among pizzerias. “Takeout was king then,” he says. Ogun makes his dough fresh daily and all ingredients used are high quality. Pepperoni’s Pizza enjoys being a positive influence within their community. Ogun says that around the time they opened they decided to raise funds to donate a canine to the local police department. In honor of the generous gesture from the pizzeria, the station gave the dog the codename “Pepperoni. Or Pupparoni

What is the most popular item on the menu?

The most popular item on the menu is his plain pie. He says they aren’t the pizzeria that has 20 specialty pies because they know what they’re good at and they focus on just that. He believes that keeping it simple is best.

What sets Pepperoni’s apart from the competition?

What sets his restaurant apart is consistency. By using one vendor, Ferraro Foods, he knows he will get the same product and performance each time. He believes there is great value in the partnership and rapport between an operator and their distributor because it brings familiarity and trust.

Any advice for other restaurant owners?

Advice he gives to restaurant owners is to be committed 110% of the time. He says when starting out, you can’t expect success to just come to you–be on top of everything, from expenses to dayto-day operations.
