Full Swing

We are in full golf mode and it is exciting to see everyone out on the course. Our golf programs are in full swing, and participation is at an all-time high. Our two events in March and April were full with 120 players in each. It is great to see our juniors all over the golf course and the growth of our Ladies Program has proved to be an excellent opportunity to grow this fun game. Craig Bocking, our Director of Instruction continues to offer adult classes for all levels. I say all these things because we are happy to have everyone using their club. This is exactly what we all envisioned years ago when we started this long-term plan to get the club to this level. We appreciate you being a large part of this success and we look forward to continuing to provide a great experience for you and your guests.

Over the winter, Jim Howell and I came up with a plan to promote certain ways to take care of the golf course. As our course matures and we grow in reputation it is important to make sure we are all on the same page when it comes to taking care of this great piece of property. The Golf Force was designed to increase communication amongst the membership. I want to personally thank all who agreed to serve on our Golf Force committee. If you see any of the committee members please send a thank you for their dedication to the club and the course. We have a special place here and it will take more than Jim’s Agronomy department to keep it that way. We have an obligation as employees and members to take care of our course. You have been shown videos about certain topics that pertain to the course and the club and we will continue to do this periodically through the year to remind all of us of the importance of proper care of the golf course.

Golf Force Committee: Kimberley Denney, Bill Salter, Ward Ragland, Mike Walters, Wayne Martin, Tina Fraser, Eric Shugart, Mac Crane, Ray Fennell, Mike Gillespie, Tommy Beason, Scott Boyett, David Spillers, Steve Qualls, Jerry Cook, Wes Breland, Diana King, Nicole Robinson, Mike McFadden, Neil Moats, Phil Robinson, Patrick Jacklin, Walter Meyer, Patrick Butler, Jim Howell and Rob Clark

The golf shop is full of new golf apparel from some of our best vendors. Men’s apparel range from Peter Millar, Holderness and Bourne and Johnnie O. We have great women's apparel from EP PRO and Belyn, so make sure you come and check it out. If you have a special need, let one of us know and we will be glad to source it for you. We have many members who take advantage of our ability of corporate buying power. If you have a need for your clients or employees please let us give you a quote. You will be pleasantly surprised with how competitive we can be. We continue to do a large amount of club fittings. If you have an interest or a question about making sure you have the proper equipment, make an appointment with one of our professional staff to have your clubs checked out.

COURSE UPDATE

WYATT KOTARY COURSE SUPERINTENDENT

FROM

As my inaugural season kicks off, I want to first let everyone know how appreciative I am of this opportunity to be a part of The Ledges team. Everyone has been extremely welcoming, and I look forward to this season and each one from here on out.

My first few months here have been eventful to say the least, the golf course comes with its own set of challenges and opportunities. My first focus was the bunkers, creating an entirely new system of fixing, smoothing and raking. This will allow us to create a more consistent sand surface every day. Along with the bunkers, the focus of my tenure so far has been creating a team of dedicated team members on the grounds crew. With the labor market being so tight, it has been a challenge to obtain and retain employees, but we have been working hard to create an environment that is challenging but also rewarding.

During my short time here, I have learned a lot about the immense challenges the course presents, but I look forward to taking on anything we have in front of us and creating conditions that every member will remember. The Ledges is an incredible place and I cannot wait to do whatever it takes to get to the level that it deserves.

Calling all Wine Enthusiasts!

I'd like to make everyone aware of a wonderful program that we offer to the membership here at The Ledges. We call it the Vintner’s Club and if you are a wine drinker, then you absolutely need to join! As a member of the Vintner’s Club, you never have to worry about shopping for wine at the grocery store. If you have a favorite wine or are looking to try new wines at home, you can purchase them directly through the club. Whether it is on our wine list or not, it doesn’t matter. Even more than the convenience, I assure you it will be the best pricing you will find anywhere in town. Here is some more information regarding the program and other benefits of being a member:

Cost: $250 charged annually. We prorate your initial payment based on which month you join.

- Ability to purchase wine directly through the club at best pricing

- 25% discount on any bottle purchased off of our wine list while dining at the club

- FREE wine tasting the first Tuesday of every month – this is a great way to taste new wines and meet other wine enthusiasts

- Discounted pricing on wines purchased at wine events (Tastings, Food/Wine Expo, Somm Series)

- Discounted pricing at Food/Wine Expos, Wine Dinners, Somm Series events

We also offer wine locker storage for anyone who would like to have us hold some wines here at the club to enjoying while dining. Wine Lockers are $200 charged annually. If you are a Vintner’s Club member and have a wine locker, we do a discounted bundle pricing of $400. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions regarding wine, if you're looking for some new wines to try, or just looking for a great pairing while dining with us. It is always a pleasure for me and the service team here at The Ledges to assist with making your dining experience memorable.

If you are interested in joining, feel free to reach out to me by phone at 256.883.0860 or via email at dlux@theledges.com. You can also let any of our service team members know and they will be sure to get you enrolled. If you sign up while dining with us at the club, you will instantly be able to receive the discounted pricing on wine bottles ordered. Thank you all for your support of the club and I look forward to seeing many of you here at The Ledges soon.
