Pam Galante Whether it is happy memories of a friend or family member who is no longer with us, or unhappy memories of a relationship or friendship that is no more, memories can help process and reflect on many types of grief. L E A R N M O R E A B O U T PA M :

Ayla Mirolo I don’t know if it’s just me or not, but I have been to way more funerals than weddings, and on the days where the light feels a little dimmer I can’t help but believe that my funeral-to-wedding ratio is rather representative of the brighter days available in life. At a recent service, hidden somewhere in the middle of the rest of the spiel, I caught “scatter the darkness“. Cut through the sadness with fond memories. And I think about this a lot, because it has the potential to be so much more. It’s not just remembering the happy moments with lost loved ones. It’s the “just checking in” text, or the awkward “I know you’re not okay so let me weirdly pat your back a couple of times and buy you a coffee in an attempt to try to help” gesture. Sometimes what seems absolutely insignificant to one person may be the spark that turns the light back on for someone else so that they can find their way home. And I think this is so important. Maria Chiara With this piece I wanted to talk about HOPE. Even after all the pain we go through in the dark periods of our life we always find the light at the end of the tunnel. And we rise, we turn, we change. We become stronger and we are ready to go towards new exciting adventures. And Virginia Woolf has, as usual, the power to capture the essence of our existence in just a few words. <3

Grief is something that’s never fully gone; it just lessens (and lessens, and lessens), and stays hidden up in your mental attic, resurfacing on occasion. This all has nothing to do with the quote, which is from the penultimate episode of BoJack Horseman which I very recently watched. LEARN MORE ABOUT MARIA:

Lauren Florence When my dad was in the hospital for the last few days of his life, I was reading a book called “Diary” by Chuck Palahniuk. This bittersweet quote has stuck with me ever since. I like to think that my life matters because of what I put into the world, even if it’s small. Death comes for us all eventually, but it’s not something to be afraid of. While you’re here, just be you and be the best you.

Kaitlin Callender One morning you will wake up and remember that you forgot to miss them. It’ll sneak up on you. You’ll hear a familiar song, smell a certain perfume, taste a certain food. You won’t expect it. You’ll remember and you’ll think to yourself that you haven’t thought about that since it happened. The grief with feel fresh all over again, yet oddly comforting. Where would you be without the songs, the smells, the tastes? LEARN MORE ABOUT KAITLIN:

Bill Cunningham My life has literally never been better. The older I get, and farther from my youth, the happier I am. I wish my youth was easier, happier, less angry, but it got me here. So while I mourn for what it could have been I appreciate how it got me here. LEARN MORE ABOUT BILL:
