Based entirely on audience suggestions, an improvised comedy play spun in the inimitable style of Jane Austen. See Austen’s lost works (Pride and Predator, Northanger Rabbi) performed before your very eyes.

Award winning Hughes is back with a brilliant and multi – layered new show which sees him ask the question is a man the sum of his parts? A whirlwind hour of surreal inventive playfulness.

Herring returns to tackle the undiscovered country from whose bourn no traveller returns (apart from Jesus and that canoe bloke). Death is inevitable, so let’s laugh in its face while our hearts still beat and our jaws are still attached.

Bad Bread hit Leicester for the first time with a brand new romantic (sketch) comedy just don’t tell Richard Curtis. Sure, they’re comedians, but they’re also just a girl (and two guys), standing in front of an audience asking you to laugh.

Two actors. One musician. Forty-four characters. Captain Morgan and First Mate Hammond quest for secrets of time-travel in a rip-roaring adventure comedy. A five star run at the Edinburgh Fringe.

A group of young, ambitious actors have written a musical based on a film about some snakes on a plane. They think it’s going to be a massive hit! They just need £50 million to produce it!

DEATHTRAP

9

Monday 7 – Saturday 12 April 2014 Directed by Ruth Cheetham It has been years since the murder mystery playwright and celebrated author Sidney Bruhl last had a hit. He’s so desperate he’d kill for a really good script, so when Clifford Anderson, an unknown playwright sends him a script to die for, the only one in existence, Sydney sees a lethal opportunity. Ira Levin’s comedy thriller has more twists and turns than a rollercoaster ride. It took Broadway and the West End by storm and was a hit film for Michael Caine and Christopher Reeve.

THE

11

Monday 28 April – Saturday 3 May 2014 Directed by Jane Towers The play opens with an attempted suicide. Unfolding like a mystery, this is, in fact, a sad tale of disappointment, a forgotten birthday, unrequited love and a woman floundering between the proverbial dilemma of the play’s title. Terence Rattigan gives us moving, emotional dramas whose themes are universal but set in a beautiful, nostalgic framework. This is an old fashioned tale with the heartbreak of a Bette Davis melodrama, the clipped, brittle wit of a Noel Coward comedy and the lost England of Brief Encounter. Come and wallow in matinée film nostalgia.

Monday 19 – Saturday 24 May 2014 Directed by Marion Morley Hilarious and touching, this heartwarming true story follows a group of six friends who gather each week at the local beauty salon in Chinquapin Parish, Louisiana. Trudy dispenses shampoo and advice to the locals, including Ouiser the town curmudgeon, Miss Clairee an eccentric millionaire, and M’Lynn, whose daughter Shelby is about to get married. Thursday 19 – Saturday 21 June 2014 Directed by Paul Phillips SENIOR YOUTH THEATRE MAIN HOUSE Zigger Zagger by Peter Terson is the Senior Youth Theatre’s summer production. The villainous Zigger leads a group of football supporters intent on hooliganism. Harry, charismatic, yet limited in outlook as football dominates his life, is easily led and follows Zigger, but craves a fuller, richer life. Originally performed by the National Youth Theatre, the play depicts life on the terraces and the football chorus is continually present with songs and chants during the performance. It is funny, sad and noisy all rolled into one, and makes for an exciting evening’s entertainment.

By Dor Ariel fma nn

HAYWOOD STUDIO The play contains strong language and adult themes. Paulina Salas, former political activist, having been imprisoned and tortured by her country’s former dictatorship, is living, years later, in an isolated country house engulfed by the memories of the sadistic treatment she received at the hands of the prison doctors. Out of the night, a good Samaritan who has assisted her husband with the flat tyre on his car, brings those memories vividly into sharp focus. This high-powered, dramatic play will stay with you long after you have left the theatre.

Monday 30 June – Saturday 5 July 2014 Directed by Paul Beasley In one of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies, all is not well among the Athenians, despite the impending marriage of their Duke, Theseus, to the Amazonian Queen Hyppolyta. Hermia’s father has forbidden her from marrying Lysander, whom she loves, favouring instead Demetrius, the unrequited love of Helena, Hermia’s friend. When into this clatters the marital disharmony between Oberon and Titania, King and Queen of the Fairies, and a group of players preparing for a performance to the Duke, all stirred by the mischievous hand of Oberon’s aide, Puck, magical chaos ensues.
