TYSON
Pets Like Tyson Deserve Happy Endings
BY Paws Humane Society
On March 13, when staff arrived to begin their day at Paws Humane Society, they discovered Tyson, a sweet two-year-old dog, left by the front doors with his blanket and a note that simply read, “Very sweet boy named Tyson. We are homeless and can’t continue to care for him.”
We immediately took Tyson in and gave him food, water, and a kennel. After an initial medical evaluation to ensure he was in good health, and to get him updated on all his vaccines, he was placed on a stray hold to give us time to reach out to the owners, in hopes of helping them. We posted a message on social media, hoping Tyson’s owners would read it and reach out to us. Unfortunately, the stray hold passed and there was no contact from the owners.
On April 1, Tyson found a new home and is living his best life! His new family said, “Tyson is doing great and is the best boy!”
Although Tyson’s story has a happy ending, not all do. There are many people and pets in our community that are struggling. Paws Humane Society has always been widely thought of as an amazing adoption center. While we are proud of all the animals we have saved over the last 14 years and will continue to be there when needed, we recognize that in order to make a true impact on our community, we also need to be working with the other end of the leash … PEOPLE. Paws Humane is now focusing on proactive, life-saving programs that keep pets and people together and out of the shelter system.
Life circumstances can change in an instant. People going through hardship may find it difficult to keep their pets. Without help, they may feel that the best choice is to surrender their pet. We understand how difficult these choices can be. With our resources and programs, we are giving the community new choices and alternatives. Paws Humane provides access to affordable veterinary medical care and spay/neuter assistance, free pet food and supplies, free spay/neuter for all community cats living in Muscogee County, low-cost dog training services, and when all else fails and you still need to rehome your pet, assistance with the adoption process so they never have to come into a shelter.
