Canterbury Language Training
2014 Update – including Dates and Fees www.clt.com
Welcome to the CLT update for 2014 We have some new developments which we hope will further enhance the unique CLT experience. Our commitment to highly tailored training programmes with great levels of personal service remains as strong as it was 22 years ago when we founded Canterbury Language Training.
A2 Level Kick-Start Professional Micro-Group Programme
Combination Training Options
Our Professional Micro-Group Training is now open to A2 (CEFR) level participants (CLT level 3 – IELTS 3.0-3.5 , TOEIC 255-400). Until now the minimum entry level has been B1 but we are aware of a demand at A2 level for the type of training we offer and, equally important, the type of training environment you find at CLT – a friendly, supportive and stimulating immersion experience.
Combi-30: 15 hours’ Micro-Group plus 15 hours’ One-to-One per week, 1 to 4 weeks
We look forward to welcoming you to the beautiful city of Canterbury for training which produces results.
Participants at A2 level can expect to focus on developing confidence through attention to basic speaking and listening skills in everyday work situations: producing simple but grammatically correct sentences, listening techniques, using clarifying and verifying to ensure understanding.
For many years networking lunches and evening social activities, led by CLT trainers, have been part of the ‘CLT immersion experience’. We have therefore decided to integrate these into the global training fees for 2014. There will be three networking lunches per week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) in local restaurants, with CLT trainers to animate communication.
John Miles Managing Director
Outcomes - we aim for participants to have the confidence to:
Networking Lunches and Social Activities now included
• Network at a basic level with other professionals in social situations
Each week there will be two social activities, led and animated by CLT trainers, offering further opportunities to listen to and speak English, network with professional colleagues from a wide range of backgrounds and countries, and learn a little more about the local area and culture.
• Describe simply but clearly their company or institution, products or services
Each week one activity will be a full evening, including dinner in a restaurant or pub.
• Understand and answer simple questions
The inclusion of these networking lunches, and social activities increases trainer contact hours by a minimum of 10 hours per week – to 40 hours per week, if you are on a full time immersion programme.
• Follow meetings in English and make simple contributions • Make simple business and professional presentations
• ‘Manage’ interlocutors’ communication levels • Deal with cross-cultural issues in communication. This programme will, like all our Professional Micro-Group Training, be available in combination with One-to-One Training.
