The LondonSchool Group The LondonSchool Group has been offering communications training for more than 100 years. Throughout our history we have emphasised development and innovation, both at home and abroad. This brochure now brings together our whole UK offer – our two London campuses and Canterbury Language Training, a boutique training centre specialising in courses for the corporate market. Two-centre courses – part London, part Canterbury – can be highly effective. We regularly welcome clients from more than 60 countries and have developed deep and long-lasting relationships with many regular corporate clients and with representatives who choose us when quality and reliability are essential. More than 2500 students take our programmes in the UK every year; our success is based on the consistently excellent feedback they give. This brochure includes basic information about our operations in the UK. It can only be a brief introduction to the richness of what we do. Please visit our website - www.londonschool.com - for more details.

NB All information correct as of June 2014 – please refer to the pdf version of this brochure on our website for further updates.

Our trainers are selected for their ability to inform, challenge and inspire, as well as to facilitate the cross-cultural exchange that is central to all our courses.

Courses for Young Professionals These courses are designed for young professionals near the start of their careers – typically recent graduates or those with 2 or 3 years’ experience. I feel I have learnt much more in this period in London than all the English that I studied in Argentina. I was shocked at first as I didn’t expect to get a 6.5 in IELTS but also I feel proud of myself as I achieved the goal that I wanted and I’m much more confident.

Our courses at Westcroft Square Westcroft Square offers General English, English for University, and exam preparation. Whatever your aims, we help you gain the knowledge, the practical skills and the confidence you need. You may just want to boost your General English, but you may need a very specific outcome – for example success in an examination to help with your career or to gain admission to a university.

Westcroft Square

Whether you are with us for a short course, or for many months, your course will be intensive, practical and focused. The average age of our students is a little older than in many schools – the mature environment and your hard work and commitment will achieve remarkable results for you. Even in the summer, a short course with us will have real practical benefits. We have a very strong management team, including staff with special responsibility for examinations and for students staying with us for a long time. If you plan to go to university, our University Relations Manager can support you in every way. Our English for University course will give you perfect preparation for the challenges of studying at a UK or English language medium university. Whatever your aims, we measure ourselves by your success.

This is one of the finest English schools because they are like a team, they provide you with lots of opportunities to make your future a reality. Learning English is like a marathon and in order to keep running this marathon I need mentors, dependable instructors and cordial friends. Fortunately I could find them all at this school.

’’

This was my best experience I have ever had in learning English! The teachers are lovely and well prepared, they focus on the needs of the class as well as individual needs, and the connection between language and culture has been fascinating and really opened my mind... I was very satisfied to achieve such a lot of progress and to get the result I need to get into my first choice university.

’’

‘‘

I met wonderful and helpful teachers and administrators in the school. They were very friendly and always gave me practical and moral support. I also met a variety of international students with whom I spent memorable times. LSE has an atmosphere which is enjoyable and stimulating to learn and develop your English skills. In addition there is a varied and interesting social programme which helps you improve your communication skills in English.

Our courses in Canterbury Immersion Courses in Professional English and Communication Skills In 1991 we founded Canterbury Language Training (CLT), a boutique centre offering immersion courses, just one hour from London but providing a very different, very English location. CLT creates a unique, personal environment for business and professional clients. A maximum of 25 participants at any time guarantees individual attention. Careful preparation, based on the information you provide and pre-course Skype interviews, means that your training will be fully tailored to your needs. The CLT experience is fully integrated: training, lunches and evening activities with trainers, combined with executive homestay or hotel accommodation, create an all-day immersion programme. The focus of the training is practical communication skills which you can use immediately in your work. You will meet like-minded people from diverse countries, companies and institutions. Communicating across cultural boundaries will be a key part of your training. Courses in Canterbury can be combined with courses in London – our Dual Centre Programmes – with the benefit of different stimuli but guaranteed continuity in training.

About Canterbury Canterbury is a beautiful, historic town, dominated by the magnificent gothic Cathedral. The city dates from pre-Roman times and has three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, a magnificent new theatre, museums, art galleries, traditional pubs and international restaurants. It lies in an area of green countryside and unspoilt villages where many of our homestay hosts live. Canterbury is surrounded by the sea on three sides, with interesting towns, famous golf courses, beaches and the historic white cliffs of Dover all within easy reach.

London is only an hour away by high speed train, and Paris 2 hours by Eurostar.

Immersion Courses for Professionals in Canterbury Successful Communication for Professionals – Micro-Group (SCP)

SCP Combination Courses (SCP-C)

This course focuses on the group communication needs of business and professional people. The small group size allows us to personalise the content. You will gain confidence in making presentations, taking part in international meetings, cross-cultural networking and other familiar work contexts. You will also learn to use language tools which give you greater control of your communication. With practice this will lead to successful outcomes every time. You can combine this course with one-to-one training – see SCP Combination Courses.

You will get the best of both worlds – all the benefits of group interaction combined with the 100% tailoring of one-to-one training. You can choose between Combi-30 (15 hours’ SCP Micro-Group + 15 hours’ 1:1 training per week) and Combi-25 (15 hours’ SCP MicroGroup + 10 hours’ 1:1 training per week). Generally you will do your one-to-one training in the morning and join a group in the afternoon, but we may decide the reverse structure is more appropriate, depending on your needs.
