I’ve been trapped in the system now since the age of fifteen, which is just over ten years. A decade stolen from me one way or another; Whether that be through probation, community service orders, fines, young offenders institutes, monitored curfews, on bail or behind one of the doors of her majesty’s prisons. Rats in the walls is a visual diary shot post release from prison in the confines of my own home while still subject to a home detention curfew order. Having so much freedom taken away from me has made me chase what sometimes feels like lost time, but I will forever be playing catch up because that time is gone forever...
