Dr. Waugh to Speak on U.S. Grant “The Civil War and the Forging of Character” lecture series continues this spring with Joan Waugh, Ph.D., on Monday, March 24, 2014, at 6:00 pm in the Hendrix-Chenault Theater. Dr. Waugh will present a talk on “Ulysses S. Grant in Historical Memory.” Dr. Waugh holds the Stephen and Janet Rogers Distinguished Fellowship in 19th Century American History at Paul Saltzman

After being jailed, and then assaulted by a young Klansman, Saltzman returned to Mississippi in 2007 to find the KKK member who attacked him.
