Research Methodology BMGI, as a Knowledge partner for The ET Best Brands in Metal Cutting & Metal Forming 2019, conducted detailed research to identify a list of the best and emerging best brands in India in the metal forming and metal cutting for the 2019 edition. The process included analyzing and reviewing companies which support the eco-system of Metal Forming and Metal Cutting from initial stages of Mining to manufactured parts, besides including the firms which enabled metal cutting and metal forming, such as machine and machine part manufacturers, tools, inspection equipment, accessories, etc. BMGI conducted a detailed secondary research to identify a reasonable and vast list of established and emerging brands which are recognized in the country and where applicable have a global outreach. The data was collected from various databases including industry associations, published lists and participant lists of various major Indian and global events. A list of 360 Metal cutting and 488 metal forming companies was created. The list was then subjected to further detailed assessment across various dimensions such as Technology, Product Range, Geographical Presence in India & Exports, Manufacturing Capabilities and Clientele. With the screening, a final short list of companies was prepared to arrive at the names mentioned in this Coffee Table Book as the best recognizable brands for this edition.

PROVIDING WIDEST RANGES OF MACHINING CENTRES 740V MACHINING CENTRE 740V is a compact, high-precision and high productivity vertical machining centre, loaded with a BT40 spindle and has a 20-tool side-mounted ATC. The inbuilt high precision roller guideways, ball screws, and rapid traverse help the machine to achieve great positional accuracy at a faster rate. Its high rigidity machine structure and high precision features allow users to achieve full accuracy during longer periods of operation. Infrastructure / Plant Capacity
The newly built multi-storeyed assembly facility, inaugurated in 2018, is one of its kinds in the country today. It can build over 2,000 machines per year. And along with other facilities, they can build over 3,200 machines every year. The facilities have a rainwater harvesting tank that can collect up to 1.8 million litres of water. The solar panels installed on the roof of the existing factory building have a capacity of 500 kWh, which meets about 60 to 70 percent of the company’s existing demand for power.

Khushbu laid the foundation in 1990 by Ajit Samani in a developing city of Kolhapur in South of Maharashtra. Khushbu had a humble beginning with three employees in a small shed. The said CNC was originally using a water-based coolant but for their specific needs, the CNC machine was converted to use an oil-based coolant. 3 units of 9-kg NOVEC 1230 cylinders were used to connect in parallel to make it a 27-kg system to suffice the volume of the CNC machine’s huge grinding envelope of approximately 28 CuM. WEFIRE™ Heat Detection tube was mounted on the roof and walls of the machine along with 6 nos of gas discharge nozzles, mounted at
strategic hazard locations. One evening, oil fumes within the grinding enclosure ignited due to series of sparks erupting from the spindle’s grinding operation, followed by a blast; possibly due to enough availability of flammable neat cutting oil and fumes within the enclosure. The initial flash fire created a substantial fire in an instant. Within seconds, the heat detection tube installed inside the roof of the machine detected the fire and activated the WEFIRE™ system. Novec 1230 extinguishing gas instantly flowed from all 6 discharge nozzles, flooding the whole compartment and extinguishing the fire within seconds. Post this incident, the customer realised the value of installing a WEFIRE™ system, which not only did extinguish the fire in few seconds, but also restricted the damage caused by fire to minimal, thereby saving the machine, shop floor, downtime and human lives. Within a few hours, the WEFIRE™ system was re-instated, and the machine was up and running, doing what it does best, viz. generating revenue.
