Discover more...Upcoming Walks with: Hamble Valley Heritage Guides Walk the War - the site of Queen Victoria’s military hospital, Netley Abbey 21st October 2pm To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War a special walk at the site of the Queen Victoria Military Hospital – now the Queen Victoria Country Park, Netley. The hospital reached the peak of its activity during the war. Once probably the largest hospital in the world, it then more than doubled in size to cope with the numerous casualties. Meet in the garden outside the front of the restored Chapel in Royal Victoria Country Park. Chargeable parking in the park; some free parking in Netley village requiring a longer walk. Price: £2

One of the River Hamble’s longest running services, Hamble Ferry boasts a long history, with lots of exciting changes over the years.
Parking is also available at Roy Underdown Pavilion (15 mins walk) and at Mount Pleasant Playing Fields / Hamble Primary School (20 mins walk) A foot passenger ferry runs across Hamble river between Warsash Hard and Hamble Quay. Services start at 9am and cost £1.50 per person. Parking in Warsash Passage Lane Car Park is free. Call 023 8045 4512 for timetable info. BUS SERVICES via First Bus Group. Service 6 running from Southampton (via Woolston - Netley) to Hamble every 30 minutes.

Children s events and workshops SoCo Music Project – Vegetable Orchestra

Vegetables have never been so much fun, or made so much noise! Come and join SoCo Music Project in the musical fun and be part of the Hamble Food Fest Vegetable Orchestra! Learn how to make carrot flutes, courgette castanets, peppershakers and much more. Then learn how to play them and make a tune as part of the Vegetable Orchestra. Workshop ONE: start 10.00am ends with a performance at 10.45 am. Workshop TWO: Start 12.45pm ends with a performance at 1.30pm. Workshop THREE: Start 2.30pm ends with a performance at 3.15pm.

Throughout the day. Mermaid, pirate and boat themed crafts will be taking place with BellaCrafts from 10am. You will also have the opportunity to take part in pebble painting and a chance to paint your own water image! There will be other games and activities for a small charge.

Between 10m - 1pm A touch of magic is coming to Hamble Valley Festival of Food in the form of Marcus Bailey. Performing up close magic throughout the event, he is sure to amaze and entertain,
is a gourmet’s heaven From 10am-4pm visitors will be able to meander through the market stalls filled with delights such as locally made fudge, British cheeses, local cider, pies, meat, fish, game, honey, jams and chutneys plus baked goods using Hampshire flour. New for this year the Fizzbox Company will be there with their converted Rice horse trailer Prosecco Van, stocked with Prosecco, Cava, English Sparkling wine and Champagne so you can enjoy a sparkling treat! JJ’s Cider will also be returning with their famous range of West Country Ciders, enjoy on the day or buy it to take away.
Balloon Modelling Fun! FREE Throughout the day. Big Cat Jungle parties are returning to the Quay to demonstrate balloon modelling including marine turtle bracelet, fish, an anchor or your very own pirate sword!

Maritime Memories Heritage Walk with the Hamble Valley & Eastleigh Heritage Guide Meet at 11am on the Quay outside the Royal Southern Yacht Club. Discover some of the history and maritime heritage of Hamble-le-rice on a local village walk. £2 donation per adult. Children free but must be accompanied by an adult. Walk lasts approximately 1 hour.
