THE OFFICIAL NEWSLET TER OF THE THREE RIVERS REGION, PORSCHE CLUB OF AMERICA

Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta is Worth the Trip If you’re going to have a mandatory meeting, I can’t imagine a better place to hold it than the brand new Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

Vic Rola, our Zone Three Rep, held the Region Three Presidents’ meeting at the best location to engender perfect attendance. Nestled on the outer edge of the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the multi-million dollar facility is extraordinary in every way.

From the unique track designed to elicit the best from each Porsche in production, to the human performance and training center, no detail was left on the table.

President’s Message

THREE RIVERS REGION PRESIDENT MELISSA SPROUSE BROWNE

I intended to write a completely different message for this issue of the newsletter. But, recent events have led me elsewhere. I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Carol Rola, Vic’s beloved wife. It was unexpected. I ask that we pray for our Vic (our Zone Three Region rep) and his family during this very difficult time. This past Friday, I was talking with Helen Lane, who fondly recalled sitting with Vic and Carol for dinner just last weekend at Rennfest. She said it was a wonderful time and they sat together two nights in a row. Here were two couples, Dick and Helen and Vic and Carol, one from Chapin, South Carolina and the other from Nashville, Tennessee. They were having dinner in Young Harris, Georgia at the Brasstown Resort. This years-long friendship of people from different states and different backgrounds happened because of a mutual love of Porsche. The opportunity to be in a club such as PCA brings with it many things; most importantly, it brings like-minded people together for fun and fellowship. There are many friendships that can be traced to PCA, and some of the best friends I have are in the Three Rivers Region. I want to thank Sandy Shirley for introducing me to the world of Porsche. And even though she’s not active in the club any more, we remain fast friends. I could easily list dozens of names of people in our group who mean the world to me. I just want you all to know how important you are to me and how wonderful it is to have you as part of my life. Life is short - if you love someone, tell them today. Don’t wait for tomorrow, it might be too late. Please consider attending one of our upcoming events - there is a lot happening before year’s end. September finds us at McDaniels Porsche in Columbia on 9/15 at 6:30p. October brings our annual Oktoberfest and Euro Auto Festival. November means it’s time for the Hilton Head Concours and December is time for the annual Christmas party. If you’re not into the social gatherings, we understand. Some folks are dedicated to club racing, auto cross, DEs, etc. As a small region, our budget isn’t ready to yet support bigger events, so in the mean time, we hope to see you at some of the things we have for right now. Who knows, you might make a new friend!
