ABOUT MATT BUTLER. PRINTMAKER. DESIGNER. GINGER.
The Matt Butler has been creating kick-ass, handmade goods since 2009. He specializes in linocut prints and greeting cards, the subjects of which are influenced by his sense of humor and love of bikes, typography, and Southern culture. Matt began life in the rolling hills of North Carolina playing in the woods and sometimes being made fun of for being a ginger. The woods and bullies of his youth toughened Matt up and turned him into the sassy, hand-crafter he is today. Matt is currently based in Berkeley, CA, the epicenter of liberalism and drum circles. But don’t worry, all the sharing of feelings and hand holding haven’t softened Matt too much. He’s still printing with wit and sass to spare. When he’s not pulling prints, you might be able to find him on his bike, climbing some rocks, or cooking dinner for friends.

LINOCUT PRINTS. These are linocut prints. Each one is made by hand using a block of linoleum that Matt carved with tools he inherited from his grandfather. The carving creates a giant rubber stamp. Ink is rolled onto this block and a damp piece of paper is placed on top. The block and paper are rolled through a printing press that applies a great deal of pressure. The paper stretches around each mark carved into the block giving the final print depth and a distinctly hand-made look. Digital prints ain’t got shit on these things. Each print is individually numbered and signed by Matt. They are packaged in a clear, poly sleeve with a protective backerboard. A label is affixed to the back that explains the process.

ORDERING: Orders may be placed online at www.themattbutler.com, by phone at 704.726.9573, or by email at themattbutler@gmail.com. First three orders must be prepaid by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express) or by check. Net 30 terms are offered to retailers with an established relationship with The Matt Butler, subject to credit approval. SHIPPING: Orders ship USPS Priority or UPS depending on weight and volume. Please let us know if you have a preference. Shipping cost will be charged when order is ready to ship. TURNAROUND: All pieces are made to order and ship within 2-3 weeks. Please contact us for a quote for expedited shipping. PACKAGING: All prints and greeting cards are packaged in clear plastic sleeves. Print packaging includes a white backerboard for protection and sticker explaining how the print was made.
