WORDS FROM THIS DAD: Kelsy & Butch, I am writing this to you with tears in my eyes. I can’t begin to tell you how much these photos means to us. This truly was the first time having our photos taken together as a family. After health scares and realizing how few times we have been photographed together (we only had 40 images from our wedding and only 1 photo exists from our past together) I knew I wanted you both to capture us like no one else could have. Our little ones are growing so fast and you would think that they would have tons of photos, but to be quite honest we have to make time to take portraits of them and one of us is always behind the camera. I hope this becomes part of a long tradition for our family. May you both continue to be blessed as we have been blessed by you! You have already reached out and considered us to capture your loved ones! If your think we’re a great fit (we hope you do!), simply let us know which session you would like to book and let’s find a date that works. Once these two things are decided, the booking process is completed by signing our digital contract & sending off a retainer payment to secure your session with us!

We love chatting with you to choose outfits that will photograph wonderfully and represent your style. We’re happy to share our outfit inspiration guide as well as peek at photos of the outfits you’re considering. Just send them our way!
SELECTING A LOCATION
There are so many picturesque location in beautiful Wisconsin (and beyond!). Newborn sessions are best captured at your home in your little one’s nursery and the spaces that mean so much to you as a family! Toddler & family portraits give us the option to do them either indoors or out on location. We love the space and movement that outdoor sessions allow us. Do have beautiful land? Let’s have your session there! Love being by the water? We’ll meet you at the lake – sessions near water always photograph beautifully! Not sure where you’d like your photos done? That’s no problem – leave it to us and we’ll find something beautiful for you!
THE DAY OF YOUR SESSION
We arrive and are SO excited to photograph your loved ones!! We’re often asked what our best advice is for a fun and stress-free portait experience, and it is simple: let go and don’t worry about anything during your session. Your only “job” while taking pictures with us is to have fun LOVING on your family! Giggle & play with your little ones, swing them high into the air or give them a little teasing to bring out their smiles. Soak in the beauty of these fleeting moments!
YOUR PORTRAIT FEATURE
As soon as we get your film back from our lab, we dive into preparing your photos. We are literally watching & smiling from ear-to-ear as each image downloads to our computer! The first time you lay eyes on your photographs will be 2-3 weeks after your session on our blog.
YOUR GALLERY OF IMAGES
Your online gallery of all final images will be ready for you to view and share with family & friends within one week of your feature on our blog! Your session will include the items you chose at booking, and the gallery will be where you, family & friends can get your hands on additional prints, canvases or albums.
DELIVERY
Once you decide which images you would like, we order everything for you, wrap it up, put our stamp on it, and send it off for you to love and cherish for the rest of your lives (& then some!). Prints & canvases are delivered within 2 weeks of your order, and handcrafted heirloom albums & keepsake print sets are received within 4-6 weeks.
WHY FILM? When you ask us about film, you’ll see our eyes grow by three sizes before we start to gush about it! We fell in love with film all over again while photographing a Saint Paul, Minnesota wedding in November 2009 and, as artists, this overwhelmingly fueled our passion to create timeless images. Photographs created using film pair perfectly with the look & feel of moments we capture and stories we tell. Our goal is to produce the best possible work that we can for our clients and, for so many reasons, film plays a huge role in that; film photographs are soft and classic, yet rich and so full of life. We all have memories of falling in love with images of our parents & grandparents. Their pictures have stood the test of time, even after being shared over & over again. That’s the type of family heirloom and story we strive to create for our couples & families. Photographing with film causes us to slow down and truly be present. We are more discerning andintentional with every single image we create. As a result, we are completely connected and in themoment with you. In other words, we won’t be busy peeking at the back of our camera to “make sure we got the shot” and accidentally miss a spontaneous hug or kiss from your little one, or cute moment between you and your hunny. This makes us feel and experience the artistry behind photography — something that is often overlooked with how easy it is to fire away and take thousands of digital images. Just like a quality piece of handmade furniture or the perfect piece of pottery, we fell in love with the process of photographing with film, and it has become a major part of who we are as artists. The best part? Our clients fall in love with the warm & inviting feeling of their images!
