ALBERT SNODGRASS

A guy calls the hospital. He says, “You gotta send help! My wife’s going into labor!” The nurse says, “Calm down. Is this her first child?” He says, “No! This is her husband!” A couple walking in the park noticed a young man and woman sitting on a bench, passionately kissing. “Why don’t you do that?” said the wife. “Honey,” replied her husband, “I don’t even know that woman! A wife complains, “A wall clock almost killed my mother today. It fell only seconds after she got up from the couch.” Her husband mumbled, “That clock was always bloody slow.” Doctor: I have some bad news and some very bad news. Patient: Well, might as well give me the bad news first. Doctor: The lab called with your test results. They said you have 24 hours to live. Patient: 24 hours! That’s terrible! What could be worse? What’s the very bad news? Doctor: I’ve been trying to reach you since yesterday. “Dad, can you write in the dark?” “I think so. What is it you want me to write?” “Your name on this report card.” What’s the difference between a musician and a savings bond? One of them eventually matures and earns money. An old couple is sitting in church one morning, listening to a sermon, when the wife whispers, “I’ve just broke wind silently. What should I do?” Her husband whispers back, “Well, for starters, you can put a new battery in your hearing aid.”

Alex Caley, Events Manager at Meadowhall, said: “This year’s line-up has something for everybody and we’re expecting record breaking numbers to attend. It’s going to be terrifically important to choose your words with care, this week. The Sun squares up to Jupiter, which can create a bounding sense of possibility and enthusiasm. However equally, it can see us offer more than we can deliver on. Don’t rush to share how you feel. Call for more…

You are often the arch diplomat of the zodiac and can be the one who prizes open opportunities. However, this is a week when you really need to measure all you say, propose and agree to, with a great deal of care. People will take you at your word and at face value. Call for more…

Venus combines with Mercury, but the latter continues to twist backwards. Although Pluto can bring a slice of perspective to proceedings, there could be a tendency to splash money loosely or buy things that don’t have any true value. Try to resist such urges. Call for more advice…

There may be someone or something you find yourself attracted to this week. This can be an energy that is all-consuming, but by its nature, you may find it very difficult to not be affected by it. This could challenge you, but you may find the challenge irresistible. Call for more…

However fast you try to drive your life this week, if you try to push things too hard you may be rather akin to have on the handbrake, even if you have your foot to the proverbial floor. The best way to make progress is going to be by setting yourself some realistic targets. Call for more…

Your relationship sector is strongly influenced, with a New Moon emerging towards the end of the week. This could create a sense of renewal or revitalisation, but the role of Saturn in your sign cannot be underestimated. This suggests you must be attuned to the needs of others. Call for more…

For you this is a week where you need to be even more conscious of the company you keep and the things you share with others. Do not be too quick to open up to those who are not worthy of investing your most tender thoughts with. Also try to avoid jumping to any conclusions. Call for more…

For around a year your ruling planet of Saturn has been encouraging you to clear up any loose ends. These may be long-standing strands or more personal unresolved emotional issues. But it will probably prove impossible to ignore any such tricky issues any longer. Call for more…

You may find yourself in demand, but managing your time and the expectations of those people who want to spend it with you is going to be the real challenge. Unfortunately, you may need to start to become more conscious of the values of those people you interact with. Call for more…

An exciting opportunity can develop for you creatively, romantically or socially. However, the irony is that you may feel that you have to give something up Aquarius, in order to embrace a new opportunity, and this can leave you feeling conflicted. Call for more news and advice…

Relationships with people in positions of influence can be particularly tricky this week, and with the Sun also in opposition to Saturn, balancing your own needs whilst fitting in with what is expected by others is probably not going to be without the occasional hiccup. Call for more…

Your two ruling planets of Neptune and Jupiter have been under pressure from Saturn for some while. This complex dynamic is joined by the Sun and Venus this week, and key decisions affecting your overall life can be thrust to centre stage. Don’t rush to decide Pisces. Call for more…

DEMENTIA SUPPORT APP VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED People living with dementia and those who care for someone with the condition are being asked to take part in a trial of an award-winning dementia support app. Twenty thousand people already use MindMate, which aims to improve the lives of people with dementia by giving practical help to them and their carers. Now it is being promoted in Sheffield after its young designers won the city’s Smart Lab competition for innovation in care. This comes as it is revealed that one in three children born last year are likely to develop some form of dementia in their old age. Patrick Renner, co-founder of MindMate, said: “We developed MindMate based on personal experiences of caring for someone with Alzheimer’s. With MindMate, we wanted to build a tool which would have helped keep our grandparents more independent and been a useful source of extra support through the caring process.

“Thousands of people are already using it and we see an increase in independency in the early stages of dementia and an improved relationship between the carer and the individual living with the condition. Through this trial we want to gather more feedback on how MindMate can make a difference in the life of people living with dementia and their (family) carers.” Up to 75 iPAD users are being sought for the trial which involves using the app over a four week period. People are encouraged to come forward up to 12 June. Councillor Cate McDonald, cabinet member for health and social care at Sheffield City Council, said: “The number of people with dementia in Sheffield will increase substantially over the next few years. We need to do as much as we can to make sure people are able to continue to maintain their independence and live well with dementia at home for as long as possible. This app provides useful prompts to help people remember to do things like

take their medication and keep important appointments, as well as build and store personal life books and special memories. It also helps the people who care for them understand their life and likes, so they’re able to meet their individual needs. We’re trying innovative approaches to care and support here in Sheffield and are pleased to support MindMate in their trial. I hope it benefits people living with dementia, their families and their carers.” It is estimated that around 6,400 people in Sheffield are living with dementia, over 4,300 with a formal diagnosis. This is expected to rise to over 7,300 by 2020 and 9,300 by 2030, with the biggest increase in people aged 85 and over. MindMate is already available for download on the Apple store and has a five star rating. To sign up for the trial please email info@mindmate-app.com or visit www.mindmate-app.com for more information.

GET THE MESSAGE - BELT-UP – OR SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES! Drivers across South Yorkshire are still dicing with death or risking serious injury by not wearing their seatbelts. A total of 67 vehicles were stopped during an enforcement operation conducted by traffic officers from South Yorkshire Police earlier this year as part of a European-wide initiative. Held in March, the week-long operation resulted in 62 drivers being issued with fixed penalty notices and a further five being given verbal warnings. A higher proportion of those stopped were men – with 46 men not wearing their belts, compared to 21 women. More worryingly 14 children within the vehicles were found to be not wearing a belt or restraint. Drivers are reminded that they have a responsibility to ensure all their passengers wear belts and will be liable for prosecution themselves if any child under 14 is found not to be wearing any form of seat restraint within their vehicle. The figures have surprised the South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership, whose aim is to reduce the number of people injured in road traffic collisions and to make South

Yorkshire roads safer. Joanne Wehrle, the Partnership’s Education Manager, said: “I am really disappointed to find that some people are still not wearing their seatbelts. Belting-up is a very simple act – it is not rocket science – and it should be the first thing you do when you get into a vehicle. “It only takes a minute of your time – the same time it takes to be involved in a collision. Unfortunately, by not wearing a seatbelt you could be left with a lifetime of consequences or possibly no life at all. “Along with speeding, using mobile phones whilst driving and drinking and driving, not wearing a seatbelt is one of the main causes of death or injury in road traffic collisions – collectively known as the Fatal Four. In a crash you are twice as likely to die if you don’t wear a seatbelt.” Chief Inspector Glen Suttenwood, Head of Roads Policing for South Yorkshire and Humberside, said he does not understand why people seem to “forget” to wear a seatbelt – particularly the younger generation who have grown up having to wear seatbelts. He added: “It seems to be total madness to me that anyone would get into a vehicle and not put on their belts because we know from firsthand experience that even a so-called “small” collision at a comparatively low speed can result in catastrophic injuries that changes lives.

“Every driver and passenger in a vehicle should wear a seat belt, irrespective of how long or short the journey. Wearing a belt correctly offers the best possible protection in a crash and thousands of lives have been saved since the law came into force.” Anyone not wearing one who is stopped by the police will face an on-the-spot fine of £100. Alternatively, if they are prosecuted they face a maximum fine of £500. Over the past decade the number of people wearing seatbelts has consistently been above the 90 per cent mark. But this means that a further ten per cent do not wear their belts – putting themselves and other occupants of a car at risk of serious injury. Drivers and passengers aged 17 to 34 have the lowest seatbelt-wearing rates and there is evidence that some people are less likely to use their seatbelts on short or familiar journeys. Unfortunately, choosing not to wear a seatbelt, even on short, familiar journeys and at low speeds, can be a life-changing or even fatal decision. The law is quite clear on the matter of seatbelts - if seatbelts are fitted in a vehicle they must be used; only one person should use a belt in each seat and children must be 135 centimetres tall or be 12 years of age to use a belt. If they are anything less they should use the correct car seat for their weight.

A team of five students from Silverdale School in Sheffield has become one of 12 teams to reach the final of Shell’s new national schools competition, The Bright Ideas Challenge. With three out of four people globally set to live in cities by 2050, the competition asked young people aged 11-14 to take a journey into the future and imagine creative solutions to power the cities of tomorrow. Students from Silverdale School looked at increasing the supply of clean and affordable energy by fitting special solar-panel dishes on every home. The curved design of the dishes, which are also fitted on pivots so they can move with the sun, catch and store the maximum amount of sunlight each day. By using their ingenuity and problem-solving skills, alongside their science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) expertise from the classroom, the students really pushed the boundaries of creativity. The team’s idea was praised by judges for its simplicity and for recognising that many of the world’s future cities may be in places that can benefit from solar energy for most of the year. As the regional winner for Yorkshire & Humber, Silverdale School has won £1,500 to help super-size its STEM lessons. Each of the winning team members will also receive their own personal tablet computer, as well as a funded trip to Make the Future London, a festival of ideas and innovation which Shell is hosting at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, June 30-July 3. It will feature live science shows, handson activities and engaging careers experiences, all aimed at bringing STEM education to life. At Make the Future London, the wining team of students will also find out if they are the national champions of The Bright Ideas Challenge. If so, they’ll win a total of £5,000 for their school. Chas Ponsford, Deputy Head Teacher of Silverdale School commented: “We are absolutely delighted

that our brilliant Year 8 students are the Yorkshire winners of The Bright Ideas Challenge with their imaginative solar-panel project. The award is also a tribute to our excellent teachers who have supported and encouraged the students throughout the project. “Thank you to Shell for giving our students the amazing opportunity to meet other winners in London and for donating such generous prizes to the school and the contestants!” There were 423 student entries, so getting to the final is a huge achievement. To see an overview of each of the 11 finalist ideas, go to www.shell.co.uk/brightideaschallenge.

TRAMLINES UNVEIL FRIDAY NIGHT'S SHEFFIELD SHOWCASE New announcements for Friday night include The Everly Pregnant Brothers, Velocity Brown and the Hotrods and The Stars Band. Elsewhere, there's an exclusive performance from a Sheffield supergroup, plus a host of breaking talent via the festival's Apply To Play scheme. Tramlines - the UK’s largest and most musically diverse inner-city festival - has announced that it will open its newly-expanded Devonshire Green stage on Friday night with a crowd-pleasing Sheffield showcase includes The Everly Pregnant Brothers, Velocity Brown and the Hotrods and The Stars Band. The Devonshire Green stage has an increased capacity for 2016 and can now hold up to 7,500 revellers. Also announced are the winners of the festival's apply-to-play scheme, as selected by regional BBC Introducing presenters and local music industry figures. Meanwhile, a specially assembled Sheffield supergroup will come together to perform The Beatles' legendary ‘Revolver’ LP in full, to commemorate its 50th anniversary. Long-renowned as firm Sheffield favourites, The Everly Pregnant Brothers were conceived during a drinking session between artist Pete McKee and ukulele player Richard Bailey. Their tongue-in-cheek reworkings of famous tracks are drenched in Sheffield humour and the unmistakable, rootsy sound of ukuleles and beer barrels. With huge local support, their headline set on the Devonshire Green stage is sure to be a festival highlight. Joining The Everly Pregnant Brothers on Friday night are Velocity Brown and the Hotrods. Something of a Sheffield supergroup, this well-regarded and authentic rockabilly band have played at Glastonbury and Shambala, and have become a crucial fixture of the 50s revival scene. Completing the bill on Friday night are The Stars Band, a group created at Under The Stars, a music project for people with a range of hidden disabilities. Having played together for six years, they are seriously talented musicians with a lot to say and a lot of attitude. Having excelled at the Peace Gardens stage in previous years, they are now appearing on a main stage for the first time. Also on Devonshire Green, the Revolver 50th Anniversary Project celebrates 50 years since the release of The Beatles' seminal seventh album, which is frequently listed as one of the top albums ever made by any band. Sheffield musicians including former members of Screaming Maldini, Hey Sholay, 7 Black

Tentacles and current members of Rengade Brass Band have joined forces to create a one-off performance of the full album, excusively for Tramlines 2016. There’s also good news for new talent at Tramlines, as the festival announces the successful picks from its Apply To Play scheme. Thousands of acts apply to play at the festival, and this year's applicants have been whittled down by local music industry partners and BBC Introducing presenters from across the country, with Sheffield artists including Ginger Tom, Bang Bang Romeo, Emma Crowder, King Capisce, Caroline Francess and North Adolescence among those selected from the list. Meanwhile, impressive Barnsley indie-rock outfit Aztec Doll, Manchester afro-beat 11-piece Agbeko and Leeds experimental multi-instrumentalist Juffage will appear across a range of venues and stages including the Main Stage and Devonshire Green. Hotly-tipped Leicestershire outfit Lusts, BBC Introducing Linconshire pick Real Talk, BBC Introducing Nottingham pick Silver Wilson and BBC Introducing York pick The Black Lagoons complete the list, ensuring that, as ever, Tramlines is a great place to discover breaking talent and your new favourite band. 2016 marks the eighth edition of Tramlines, which sees 100,000 music fans turn out to transform Sheffield into a vibrant festival site. This year, festival-goers will be able to catch the already-announced likes of Dizzee Rascal, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Jurassic 5, Kelis, George Clinton Parliament Funkadelic, The Dandy Warhols, The Mystery Jets, Gaz Coombes, Dawn Penn, Crazy P Soundsystem, Goldie, Craig Charles, Field Music, Hinds, Little Simz, The Enemy, Norman Jay, Toddla T, Young Fathers, My Nu Leng, David Rodigan and loads more. FIRED UP FOR COMMEMORATIVE MEDALLIONS TO HONOUR THE SHEFFIELD WOMEN OF STEEL The first of hundreds of medallions, commissioned especially to honour the Sheffield Women of Steel was struck last week at The Sheffield Assay Office in preparation for presentation at the commemorative statue unveiling ceremony on 17 June. Following a public fundraising campaign, which saw the target of £150,000 smashed by the people of Sheffield, the city will honour the women who showed bravery and determination working in Sheffield’s steel works throughout two world wars, with a commemorative statue, plus a commemorative medallion for each of them or their families to keep. The Sheffield Assay Office began pressing the medals yesterday, which are based on the statue designed by Martin Jennings and will be presented at the unveiling ceremony on 17 June outside Sheffield City Hall where the ladies attended tea dances during WWII. Julie Dore, Leader of Sheffield City Council, said: “The commemorative medallions look fantastic, I’m so pleased that we are able to honour our inspirational Women of Steel in this way. “It would not have been possible without contributions from all the people who gave so generously and goes to show how special these women are to the people of Sheffield. “The statue creates a lasting legacy that will ensure the Women of Steel and their hard work is always remembered and I look forward to showing our appreciation at the unveiling on June 17, and presenting them with their very own piece of history from this special occasion.” Nearly 400 women will be honoured with the silverplated medals which are being pressed by a 360-ton press – specifically sourced by the Assay Office. One side of the medal has a picture of the statue and the other is engraved ‘With thanks to our wartime Women of Steel from the people of Sheffield’. Ashley Carson, Assay Master, said: “We are extremely proud to be doing our bit to recognise the heroes whose tireless work helped Britain during the wars. “With more than two centuries of history, the Sheffield Assay Office has been through both world wars and we know how important it is to remember and honour those who worked so bravely. “We take great pride in our work and it makes it even

more rewarding when we are creating something which will mean so much to the ladies and their families. These medals celebrate the courage and determination of a group of unsung heroes, and I greatly look forward to the presentation in June.” The idea for medals was developed when the funding target of £150,000 was exceeded and the appeal reached £170,000. John Palmer, who coordinated the fundraising appeal, said: “When we knew we had the extra cash, we thought there was no better way to honour our Women of Steel personally than with a commemorative medallion. “The statue is something everyone can share and is a fitting acknowledgement of what the women did together. The medallion is a thank you to each individual woman from the people of Sheffield who came together as a community to raise the money for this everlasting symbol of how much they are treasured.” Invitations have been issued this week to those who have applied so far, with many being sent across the globe to Florida, South Africa, Canada and Australia, and 80 of those invitations have been sent to the women themselves all in their nineties, who demonstrated all those years ago what it means to be a woman of steel. The ceremony takes place on Friday 17 June from 11:30am in Barker’s Pool, it’s free to attend and everyone is welcome.

Charity Business Development Manager, Darren Hayes said: “We are proud to be hosting our very first race evening at Doncaster Racecourse as part of the venue’s popular Music Live programme. ANGLER’S CORNER

with Clint Walker

A mad week, and one in which my fishing has been somewhat interrupted! I’ve had two trips planned this week, and after setting up for the first, I received a telephone call to inform that a family member had gone by ambulance to hospital, and I needed to return, (I’d been on the bank for half an hour) and my second visit was curtailed after ten minutes (having driven thirty miles) by water cascading through the kitchen ceiling! Not a good start… (but all sorted now) Having sorted the domestic deluge, I decided to make a quick dash up to Gawsworth Fisheries in Cheshire, and try to sneak an hour or two in a corner of Park Pool. Park Pool is one of my favourites; it’s the kind of place where you can hide away in a corner, drop a small float against the lilies, and be surprised by a different species of fish every cast. A very brief walk around, and I found a large patch of lilies, overhanging dogwood, and a deep margin, in a neglected corner where a warm wind was pushing in; perfect. I know that this water contains some hefty tench, some carp to over 20lb, and a multitude of other decent fish, so I selected my trusty Sonik S3 1.5lb specialist rod, and opted to fish the ‘lift’ method right in the edge. A small crystal waggler was slid up the line, attached ‘top and bottom’, plumbed up an inch over depth, and cocked with a single SSG shot, which left just a tiny amount of bright red float tip showing above the surface. I love fishing like this, at point blank range, where I need to be extra quiet, careful not to spook fish, and ready for anything…it’s very exciting! The lift method is a very simple way to float fish, the single shot rests on the lake bed, a fish picks up the bait, and the float ‘lifts’ up in the water to lay flat before sliding away. I think it’s a very positive way to fish, and great fun, especially when pinhead sized bubbles surrounding the float indicate the presence of feeding tench!

A selection of baits including bread, corn, maggots, and pellet were employed, a pinch of feed before each cast, and then the float is simply dropped on the spot and left to cock. My first cast saw the float lift a fraction of an inch before moving to the side, so I picked up the rod, and was somewhat surprised when whatever was on the other end dived hard for the bottom before pulling away with a few solid tail thumps! After a couple of minutes, I watched a dark green flank roll, unfortunately just out of reach, before it submerged once more and thumped the rod in my hand. It looked big, possibly 8-9lb, and then, obviously, I lost it as the hook pulled! Gutted! At least there were fish in the swim, and the next few casts bought a succession of quality roach, crucian carp, rudd, bream and carp, but disappointingly, no further tench. I spent a fun filled couple of hours by the lakeside, constantly feeding a pinch of pellet or corn, and then watching the float rise up in the water to indicate yet another fish. I ended the short session with a couple of decent carp which may just have scraped into double figures, I’d been smashed twice too, and landed a mixture of species which even saw a fantail brown goldfish in the net; a first for me! If you want the truth, I was glad to fish without alarms, actually doing something instead of camping and waiting, and do you know what? It was far more fun! If you fancy a change, why not try the lift method and see what happens?

RUTHLESS CLEAR JOE CONTINUES TO PROGRESS OUT AT THE LANE

By Andrew Smith The Sheffield United squad has had its biggest shake up in years, 17 players have been shown the door, and only 11 first-team players remain. After a disappointing season, in which the Blades finished 11th, this exodus from the Lane was expected. New boss, Chris Wilder, hasn’t held back on his retained and released list, ten players have been released, with seven having been transfer listed. The scale of the clear out shows the state in which Sheffield United’s squad was left in, many Blades fans believe a clear out such as the one that has just occurred, was needed last season. Instead, Nigel Adkins offered the playing staff a “clean slate”, a decision which in hindsight has contributed to his demise. Three academy players have been told to pack their bags, including Terry Kennedy and

the once promising Diego De Girolamo. Danny Wilson, David Weir and Nigel Adkins have each seen two of their signings from their times as Blades boss axed. Nigel Clough’s era at the club was summed up as eight of his signings have been deemed surplus to requirements at Bramall Lane. The club must now learn from its mistakes on recruitment, in three years, three managers have built a side that has never looked likely to reach the automatic promotion spots. Wilder now has a fresh start to build a new team, built around promising players such as George Long, Che Adams and Louis Reed. Interestingly, Stefan Scougall and Mark McNulty appear to be in Wilder’s plans, regardless, an influx of players is now expected over the summer to rebuild the Blades.

ROVERS WELCOME ANDY WATSON

The Club recently took the decision to make Andrew Watson Vice Chairman of Doncaster Rovers Football Club. A positive decision made in our succession planning to ensure that we continue the good work we do off the pitch and to keep constant and transparent, the communications between The Board, the Club and the supporters Andy brings a multitude of skills and traits to the roll including the fact he is a Rovers fan and has lived in the town for 45 of his 47 years. He is incredibly passionate about the Football Club and the Club Doncaster Sports College and Foundation and will continue the work he does with both, to instill civic pride into the town

whilst looking to engage new fans to the club. We are all confident that Andy can help drive forward the Fan Engagement strategy we have in place, something we are all proud of and are becoming famous for amongst our peers. We are confident that this appointment will bring added value to what we as a Board can offer, and will ensure that we reach out to you all more frequently than has previously been possible in our time here, a real positive step by us all. We would like you all to join us in welcoming Andy into his new role, and we look forward to working closer with you all. David Blunt, Chairman of Doncaster Rovers Football

Midfielder Joe Newell is making good progress as he bids to be fit for the start of pre-season training. The former Peterborough playmaker is on the comeback trail after an operation on his ankle at the back end of last season. Newell is now stepping up his rehabilitation during the close season as he looks to be ready for when the first team squad report back following their summer break. “Joe is doing a lot of

strengthening work at the moment,” fitness coach Paul Warne told www.themillers. co.uk “He isn’t in a position when he can run at this stage; we are hoping to have him ready for that around July a few weeks after the lads start back for pre-season training.” Newell enjoyed a successful first season at AESSEAL New York Stadium scoring five times in 38 appearances in all competitions. He scored the winner for the

Millers against Leeds United at Elland Road, and was also on the scoresheet in the home victories over Bolton Wanderers and Hull City. His season was brought to a premature end last month following the draw with Nottingham Forest, with the 23-year-old going under knife after the Millers secured their Championship status. “I have been working a lot with him in the pool. He is doing around four sessions a week now and he

is progressing well,” Warne continued. “When he comes back into the training ground we’ll have to see if he is ready for the extra stresses of multi-dimensional running. “He is a fit lad and in the gym his attitude is first class so I expect that when he does get the green light to start running he won’t be too far behind the rest of the group.”

ALL SQUARE IN ALL-STAR GAME A last-minute penalty earned the Blades a creditable draw in Sunday’s Legends fixture against the Fulham All Stars. A crowd of over 4,000 was inside Bramall Lane for the charitable fixture, which saw a number of former Blades favourites grace the hallowed turf once more. The Fulham team included Gogglebox’s George Gilbey, Rizzle Kicks’ Harvey

Sylvester and comedian Jack Whitehall, who conceded the last-minute penalty for a foul on Chris Morgan! Stadium announcer Gary Sinclair, on for a late cameo, scored the penalty, following on from goals by Michael Tonge and Leigh Bromby. Former Blade Barry Hayles was the star for Fulham, having a hand in all three of the visitors’ goals. He laid off for Paul Peschisolido to score

the first and forced Bromby into an own goal for the second. Hayles then scored the third, a 40-yard lob against Peschisolido, who swapped sides at half-time and played in the Blades goal. World Cup referee Howard Webb officiated and Hollywood actor and Blades fan Sean Bean was the United manager, ably assisted by Tony Currie. A shoot-out closed

proceedings with Leigh Bromby scoring the winning penalty. The United team: Leigh Walker, Leigh Bromby, Alan Wright, Bob Booker, Chris Morgan, David Holdsworth, Michael Brown, Mark Todd, Tony Agana, Brian Deane, Carl Asaba, Alan Quinn, Jon Harley, Richard Cresswell, Michael Tonge, Paul Peschisolido, Chris Armstrong and Rob Kozluk.

MILLERS REVEAL NEW AWAY KIT Rotherham United are delighted to unveil their brand new sky blue Puma away kit for the 2016/17 season. The Millers return to the popular colour for their change strip that was last used during the club’s time at Don Valley Stadium and this year’s instalment of teamwear is complimented by a contrasting navy blue. The new shirt will proudly feature the Apogee Limited logo, who recently acquired Balreed, whose branding appeared on last season’s away and third kits. Commercial Director Steve

Coakley expressed his delight at the new away strip and hopes the return to light blue will be popular amongst Millers fans. “One of the kits that is most fondly remembered by fans over the years was from the 2009/10 season, and we have tried to meet that demand by reproducing a similar strip for next season. “The away shirt also incorporates the collar which has been well-received on previous shirts and I am sure this strip will be a hit with the Millers fans.”

CONFIDENCE, BELIEF AND CONNECTION WITH THE FANS Carlos Carvalhal says confidence and belief at the club is sky high. Although the Owls head into the play-off final as underdogs against Hull, Carlos believes the game will be evenly balanced at Wembley. After two games during the Sky Bet Championship regular campaign, there was nothing to separate the Owls and the Tigers. The head coach said: “We are underdogs. Why are we underdogs? Because the teams like Hull City are more ready than us since the beginning. “We are the outsiders but being underdogs doesn’t mean we don’t have 50% of the

chances to win the game. “The chances are the same to both teams. We have played two games against Hull City and don’t lose any game. We didn’t win also. “It will be a balanced final.” Carlos added: “We have a good emotional connection with the fans and this has been very important during the season. “We know we have made history in the club at this moment. It’s been a long time that Sheffield Wednesday haven’t achieved these kind of things. “The self-confidence of the club is more high in this moment for sure.”

OWLS IN NUMBERS As the Owls prepare for the Sky Bet Championship play-off final on Saturday against Hull City, swfc.co.uk takes a look at some of the stats that have led to the crunch clash in the capital. 17 – For the second successive season, the Owls equalled the club record of clean sheets in a single league campaign. The record of 17 shutouts – first set back by Jack Charlton’s side of 1978/79 – was equalled in the 2014/15 season. Wednesday also recorded clean sheets in the Capital One Cup against Oxford, Newcastle and Arsenal and against Brighton in the first leg of the play-off semi finals at Hillsborough. 15 – Goals for Fernando Forestieri, his highest goal tally in a single campaign. The 26-year-old’s previous best was eight goals for Watford in the 2012/13 and 2013/14 season. 1 – Member of the Owls squad included in the PFA Championship Team of the Year; Barry Bannan.

OWLS SELL- OUT WEMBLEY ALLOCATION Sheffield Wednesday’s entire allocation for the Sky Bet Championship play-off final has sold out. The Owls were allocated 38,889 seats in the West End of Wembley for Saturday’s clash with Hull City. In the first hour of general sale on Tuesday morning, the remaining tickets (approximately 5,400) after priority periods were snapped up, via SEE tickets. With demand by far outweighing supply, the club sought to make the purchase of tickets for the play-off final as fair as possible, rewarding Season Ticket holders, Members and Owls Foundation Members, as well as supporters with Ticket Priority Points. Sheffield Wednesday would like to thank fans for both their patience and outstanding support all season and ahead of this crucial fixture at Wembley.

6 – Place in the Championship. Wednesday’s highest league finish since relegation from the Premier League in 2000. 4-0 – The Owls’ biggest margin of victory in the home clash with Brentford. 51 – Appearances by Kieran Lee this season, with 45 coming in the Championship and six in cup competitions. 9 – Assists by Ross Wallace. The Scot has had a terrific first season at the club and has also chipped in with six goals including one in each play-off semi final.
