“Any spare change, mate?” Said this homeless man. “No,sorry” I replied. “You must have some change somewhere in that big bag of yours.” “No sorry, no change mate..How about a note instead?” “That would be so kind.” He said. So I wrote,I DON’T HAVE ANY CHANGE on a small piece of paper and handed it to him. I’ve managed to build a car without a reverse gear or a steering wheel. It’s pretty straight forward really. I had a Scouse girl babysit for me once. Never again! I said on my way out, “Help yourself to anything in the kitchen.” Bitch took the microwave. “You really hate my mother, don’t you?” Asked my wife. “No” I replied “I don’t” “Then why have you never invited her to your birthday parties?” “I invited her to my 50th last year.” “Yes! she snapped “But you’re only twenty four!” I’ve given up trying to understand my wife: first she texted me and said: “I’m doing tea for 7, see you later x” Then she had a go at me when I turned up with five mates. My lad came up to me this afternoon. “Daddy, what’s Viagra?” “Well,” I told him, “it’s a pill that I have to take because Mummy’s getting old.”

Step back in time to 1940’s Britain with Crich Tramway Village WWII – Home Front Event
Historic wartime road and military vehicles will be on show and on the move, mingling with vintage trams, which visitors will be able to ride on as often as they wish. The Red Lion public house will be serving drinks, including cask ales and offering traditional pub games. There’s an Easter egg hunt for children aged 4 -15 years and for a taste of nostalgia, war time songs will be performed each day by professional entertainers. Event Organiser, Brian Roberts, said: “This is one of our most popular events. Visitors can expect air-raid warnings and the sound of low flying aircraft. You will need your identity card for a real taste of life during the Second World War. There will also be a range of trade stands selling 1940’s memorabilia.” General Admission prices are £16.50 for adults, £12.50 for seniors (aged 60+) and £9.50 for children (aged 4 – 15

years). Full priced tickets are valid for 12 months (excluding later 1940’s events) or you can take advantage of reduced admission prices for that event day by dressing in 1940s costume. Crich Tramway Village is open daily from 10.00am – 5.30pm (last admissions 4.00pm) until 5th November 2017 and there is free parking. Basically, it comprises a two gallon water chamber, attached to a six with Clint Walker feet long flexible hose, terminating in a garden Another week of limited hours on the bank, hose sprayer, which can be used on the bank, or back at the car, to rinse off the accumulation but I have managed to pick off a few fish of muck and mud that collects during the despite difficult conditions, and I’ve had course of a fishing session. It can also wash the dog down, clean the kids, or the ‘tip, and sat back to wait. be used for any number of outdoor activities I enjoyed a chat with George in the next peg, fishing similar tactics, who proudly showed me where mud, sand, or anything else doesn’t his new fishing chair, bought by his family for need to be transported home in the car. But what if it runs delighted when he picked up his rod and bent out? A field filling kit is also available, utilising into a beautiful carp of just under 14lb; good lake water and a bicycle pump to repressurise man! I had to wait only a few minutes longer, the chamber, as is a heater kit, meaning that before my tip lurched around, and I landed a for long stay anglers, you can even have a hot low double; a good start. Half an hour later, I had another fish of similar size, but George and shower on the bank! I recognise it may not be something every angler will want to use, but his chum were now struggling, with nothing for those who like to be organised, clean, and further to report. I’d changed my hook bait keep a tidy car, it’s an ideal way to do it. The carp recognise bread as an obvious food source, but you consider that three bobbins, with isotopes, can now be purchased for around £100, then as fishing with bread isn’t allowed, to prevent it’s something to be seen as an investment to conflict with the local avian inhabitants, I had help keep your other fishing tackle in tip top to do the next best thing. condition. I like it, and it will find a place in George and his friend soon packed up, with the back of my van to keep it mud free, and nothing else to add to their tally. Things did not look particularly promising, but eventually, my tackle clean…nobody likes dirty tackle do they? I finished the day with five carp on the bank, www.rinsekit.co.uk all except one in double figures, lost three, and missed two more. Ten bites in total, but looking around the lake, everyone else had packed up and gone home, most fishless, some Frampton Lane, Hubberts Bridge, Boston, Lincs PE20 3QU biteless, and with only a couple of other fish banked between them, so maybe it wasn’t a Tel:01205 290328 bad result in the circumstances? LOCAL FOOTBALL with Michael Clarke
ANDREAS Weimann’s strike at the end of the first half proved the difference as Rotherham United returned north emptyhanded following a narrow defeat at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Millers made the early running but they failed to make it count as Danny Ward squandered two one-on-one opportunities and despite ‘keeper Lewis Price denying Helder Costa from the spot, the Millers hopes were dealt a decisive blow just before the break when Weimann pounced. In a low key second half, Rotherham almost grabbed just their second away point of the season, with the last kick of the game, but Semi Ajayi fluffed his lines when he hooked an effort over from close range. Following their home defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion in midweek, the Millers made two changes to their starting line-up for the visit to Molineux. The visitors were given a boost as top-scorer Ward shrugged off injury to lead the Rotherham frontline while Joe Newell was asked to provide the ammunition from the visitors engine room as Jerry Yates and Jon Taylor had to settle for places on the substitutes’ bench. The home side were quick out of the blocks and Ben Marshall’s cross saw Kortney Hause emerge from a ruck of bodies to plant a header, which was deflected over before Marshall swung a tantalising corner into the danger area which caused havoc in the visitors’ box but fortunately for the Millers, the ball dribbled into the grateful hands of Price. In their first foray of note, the Millers missed a gilt-edged chance to open the scoring when Romain Saiss’ misplaced ball was straight into the path of Tom Adeyemi, whose slide-rule pass put Ward in the clear but Carl Ikeme won the battle of wills with the Rotherham hitman when he stood up tall to block his goalbound effort. Moments later, Hause rose highest to cut out Anthony Forde’s inviting free-kick before Ward volleyed goalwards but his effort lacked power as Ikeme comfortably snuffed out the danger before Adeyemi had a shot blocked en-route to goal, in the Millers’ next attack, following good work by Will Vaulks in the build-up. The Millers were looking the
most likely, and in a carbon-copy of the earlier effort, Richie Smallwood broke up a Wolves attack to give Adeyemi the opportunity to find Ward, who bisected the Wolves defence to bare down on goal but Ikeme, once again held his nerve, to deny the Millers’ frontman with a smart, reflex save on the edge of the box. At the other end, Marshall swung over another inviting centre which saw Saiss nod the ball goalwards but a retreating Millers defender managed to scramble the ball to safety before Wolves had the perfect chance to break the deadlock, just past the half-hour mark, when Joe Mattock looked to usher the ball into touch before being stripped of possession by Costa and the Rotherham full-back hauled over the Portuguese winger in the box and the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Costa dusted himself down to take the resultant spot-kick but Price correctly dived to his left to bravely keep out his left-footed effort before Newell hacked the ball to safety. However, Rotherham failed to heed the warning as Wolves broke the deadlock in firsthalf stoppage time when Marshall’s through ball saw Weimann shrug off the attentions of Semi Ajayi before keeping his cool to round Price before sliding the ball into the unguarded net. Weimann went from hero to villain, just seconds later, when he flew into a wild challenge on Vaulks, which saw the Austrian yellow-carded, in the last action of the half. The hosts had the first sight of goal in the second half when Costa’s stinging drive had Price at full stretch before Weimann pounced on the rebound to give Costa another opportunity to strike but Mattock put in a timely tackle to prevent him shooting goalwards. Following a slow start to the half, caretaker boss Paul Warne made a double substitution as Taylor and Yates entered the fray with Newell and Smallwood replaced. Just past the hour mark, Conor Coady’s pass paved the way for Costa to clip a cross which looked inch-perfect for the onrushing Dave Edwards but the Welsh international failed to make a clean connection as the ball found its way to the well-stationed Price on his own goal line.
In a rare Rotherham attack, Forde ghosted in from the touchline to curl a delightful centre which found the head of Yates, but the Rotherham youngster was unable to control his header as it cleared the crossbar. Sub Jon Dadi Bodvarsson almost made an immediate impression following his introduction from the bench when he showed Aimen Belaid a quick pair of heels to work a shooting position but his rising effort whistled past the visitors goal. With time running out for the Millers, Taylor delivered a deep corner which was met on the volley by club skipper Lee Frecklington, who ghosted in at the far post, but he bizarrely volleyed the ball back to Taylor and the exPeterborough winger fizzed an inviting centre which skimmed off the head of the retreating Hause, but the ball flew wide of the home goal. In the dying minutes, Price dived smartly to his left to deny sub Morgan Gibbs-White’s low effort before Rotherham’s frustration boiled over when Mattock became the next to see yellow for a late tackle to prevent the home side breaking away on the counter. In the last action of the game, the Millers squandered an opportunity to grab a share of the spoils when Vaulks delivered a superb centre which was smartly flicked on by Yates into the path of Ajayi, who somehow spooned the ball over from close range, despite having the goal at his mercy.
Rovers continued their search for the Sky Bet League Two title as goals from Andy Butler and John Marquis gave Darren Ferguson’s men a comfortable 2-0 victory over Cheltenham Town. Butler found the back of the net in the first period, after Matty Blair’s cross from a quick free-kick found the defender, who tapped the ball home. The visitors were reduced to 10-men in the second half as defender Will Boyle was sent off for two bookable offences, and Marquis wrapped the game up with nine minutes remaining to grab his 21st league goal of the season. The first chance of the half fell to the home side after seven minutes, a low cross from right wing-back Matty Blair was smartly flicked towards goal by Alfie May, but goalkeeper Scott Brown thwarted the forward. Gary Johnson’s men were next to register their first attempt on target, as a cross from James Rowe was sliced towards goal by Kyle Wooton, thankfully for Ian lawlor in the Rovers goal, there was not enough contact on the ball to cause any trouble. But it was Rovers who would take the lead in this game, as quick free-kick from James Coppinger found Blair, who fired a low ball into the box which found Marquis, his shot was blocked but there was Butler to follow in and fire home. With a minute remaining in the first period Rovers really should have made it two, Marquis won the
ball on half way and poked the ball through to Coppinger to run with, with men either side of him the captain squared it to May. The former Hythe Town striker forced Brown in the Cheltenham goal to make a brilliant 1-on-1 save, the ball popped out to Coppinger who had his left-footed striker cleared off the line by Boyle, who was well placed on the goal-line. Cheltenham made a half time substitution with Jordan Cranston replacing Liam Davies, it took until the 65th minute for either side to have a notable shot on target and it came from the visitors. A looping cross from the right-hand side from Billy Waters was headed into the grateful hands of Lawlor by Scunthorpe United loanne Wooton. With 20 minutes of the game remaining Johnson’s men were down to 10, after centre back Boyle was given his marching orders by referee Johnson, for two bookable offences. From the resulting freekick by Coppinger, Rowe thought he has doubled Rovers’ lead with his head but the linesman thought otherwise as his flagged was raised on the far side. Rovers began to dominate after that, a lovely interchange of passing by May and Rowe, saw the latter take control of the ball and lay off to striker Marquis, his effort looked to be nestling in the top right corner of Brown’s goal but the Robins keeper pulled off a tremendous
save. The scoreline soon showed that as Darren Ferguson’s men doubled their lead, May did well to hustle the ball back from the Cheltenham defence before laying Marquis up to do the rest and smash home his 21st league goal of the season. On the 88th minute a through ball from substitute Gary McSheffrey set away fellow substitute Andy Williams on goal, but a big save from Brown kept the score at 2-0 with minutes remaining. Williams had the final effort of the game, a floated ball over the top of the Cheltenham defence was picked up by the forward before unleashing a thunderous effort towards Brown’s goal, but the keeper was equal to it on this occasion.

academy stars sign
Academy duo Sam Graham and Tyler Smith have signed professional contracts with the Blades. The youngsters who have both enjoyed excellent campaigns in United’s development age groups have put pen-to-paper on twoyear deals. 16-year-old defender Graham has committed his future to the club until 2020, with his professional deal coming into effect once he has completed his scholarship. Meanwhile, Smith’s contract will turn pro
on the 1st July 2017, after completing two seasons as a scholar with the club. Academy Manager Travis Binnion remarked: “Sam and Tyler have both enjoyed excellent campaigns for both the U23s and U18s and this is the reward for their efforts.” That’s three Academy players, all of whom are Sheffield born and United fans, that have now committed their long-term futures to the club during the course of this season,
after Regan Slater signed until 2020 in December. Meanwhile the Blades U23 squad faced Millwall on
Monday with a further three triallists expected to feature.as they look to expand for next season.

billy bags february award put the Blades on the brink of something special. Billy Sharp, has On the captain, been named the Chris Wilder told Sky Bet League the club’s website: One Player of the Month for February. “Billy epitomizes the spirit we have Five goals in five at the club and games, including although it is a key strikes against personal award Scunthorpe and I’m sure he will be Bolton, have helped the first to say it is a team effort. His goals have been invaluable to us.” Sharp currently sits on 26 goals, six ahead of his nearest rival, James Vaughan. United’s number ten has made it clear that he is hunting down the 30 goal mark in the remaining fixtures. As Wilder
WEEKLY BLADES COLUMN BY ANDREW SMITH
Despite sitting at the top of League One with only a month and a half to go, Sheffield United has been awarded their first solo prize of the season. United skipper,
predicted, Sharp was quick to thank his team-mates, he said: “It’s always nice to win the personal awards, but I have to thank my team-mates and staff for showing belief in me.” Remarkably, Wilder is yet to pick up his own personal gong, having not won the Manager of the Month vote this season. However, I would suggest he is more concerned about lifting the big trophy on April 30th. Sharp’s efforts in front of goal are a huge part of why the Blades look likely to end their six-year stay
in the third tier. He arguably saved the club from trouble at the wrong end of the table last
season. If anyone deserves to get their hands on the league title, should it happen, its him.

villa dent hopes Ten-man Wednesday saw Aston Villa weather an early storm to mete out a blow to their promotion hopes. Goals either side of half time from Jonathan Kodjia did the damage, the second of which came after Vincent Sasso was sent off for the Owls following a late challenge on Conor Hourihane. Head coach
Carlos Carvalhal was also dismissed and despite turning in a far from unimpressive performance against the Villains, the visitors left the Midlands with nothing to show for their toils. At the beginning of what proved a frustrating contest, though, it was all Wednesday from the off. Sam Winnall fired a warning shot
narrowly wide and the striker then forced an athletic save from Sam Johnstone moments later after good work from Adam Reach. Villa responded with Mile Jedinak glancing over a Hourihane free kick before Morgan Fox had the ball in the net for Wednesday only to see a flag raised for offside. And that decision proved key as Villa took
the lead on 34 minutes against the run of play. Hourihane delivered an accurate feed to the back post, where Kodjia climbed high to head back across goal and in. The Owls hit back from the restart and Ross Wallace went close from a Reach pull-back but Villa ended the first half in the driving seat by virtue of their only real chance of note.
we will be strong - carlos Wednesday’s injury hit squad took another blow ahead of the clash with Aston Villa on Saturday but Carlos Carvalhal has issued a very clear message ahead of Friday’s huge clash with Reading. Fernando Forestieri joined the growing list of absentees as the Owls went down 2-0 at Villa Park. The Owls ace will be assessed during the week, along with a number of his teammates in the treatment room, as
Wednesday host the Royals under the S6 lights. But the head coach has strongly underlined the fact that his side will be strong and ready to compete in this crucial top six battle. He said: “If you as ask me with Tom Lees, with Kieran Lee, with Sam Hutchinson, with Gary Hooper, with Almen Abdi, with Fernando Forestieri if we are more strong – then I will say yes, we are more strong. We would have more options
so of course it would make us stronger. But we will not cry over the players we don’t have. We must live with the players that we have and we have plenty here and a lot of confidence in all of them. We showed this on Saturday, we came to Villa Park to play face by face and try to win the game. We started the game strong, positively and had our chances. Even when we were down to 10 men, we created chances and continued to play our positive football. But
ok, this is football and congratulations to Aston Villa - now we focus on a big game for us against Reading on Friday.” For sure, there is plenty at stake for both the Owls and the Royals next time out and on the game, Carlos added: “We have a massive match at our home on Friday, we will name a strong team because we have confidence in them all and we will need the supporters to be with the players right until the end.”
And things took a real turn for the worse just three minutes into the second period when Sasso saw red for a late challenge on Hourihane and Carvalhal was sent to the stands for seemingly voicing his disapproval. Villa had their tails up and substitute Alan Hutton might have done better from a gilt-edged chance from ten yards on the angle. Hourihane also had a clear opening but shot
wide from 12 yards but Wednesday were still showing good intentions and Jack Hunt saw penalty appeals waved away after a tangle with Jordan Amavi in the box. But any ambitions the Owls had of clawing their way back into the game were extinguished 11 minutes from time when Kodjia calmly rounded Keiren Westwood after advancing on goal to finally put the contest to bed.
