DONCASTER PRIDE WINS AWARD Hot on the heels of the most successful Doncaster Pride ever, organisers have now released news that they have been recognised by SME News as the Most Innovative Charity in the recent Yorkshire and The Humber Awards for 2017. Chair of Doncaster Pride Jenny Dewsnap said of the award: “This year’s event broke all records and predictions with crowd number being the best ever; and now we’ve received news of the award – it’s

been quite a summer for us! What’s great about the award is that it recognises us as a business and for a group of volunteers that’s so rewarding.” The Pride event, the eleventh held in the town, saw well in excess of ten thousand visitors over the day and draws crowds from not just the LGBT+ community but families, friends and allies as well as those who just want to attend a great event. Live music follows a parade through the town centre and this year people

lined the route of the colourful procession as it wound its way through the town centre. Doncaster Pride is totally self-funded and works with sponsors Unison, DCLT, St Leger Homes and local bars including The Hallcross and Flares. They have a growing business following too with many local businesses supporting the parade and helping deliver the event, these include Doncaster Sheffield Airport, Ikea, the Co-op, Doncaster

Council, The Regent Hotel, The Danum Mercure Hotel and Haart Estate Agents to name but a few. Jenny concluded “Ten years on from the first Pride event in Doncaster we have come a long way, both in terms of the changes seen in the LGBT community but also as an event and a business. We hope to continue to grow and support not just the community we represent but also Doncaster. It’s important to us people from across the UK see Doncaster

in a positive light and there’s no better way to do this than put it on the map for the right reasons. People travel to Doncaster for our pride – they spend their money, fill our hotels and enjoy a great Doncaster day out. We hope to attract more businesses to get on board in the coming months so that 2018 we can continue to break our own records.”

RESIDENTS OF SHEFFIELD TO DECIDE WHERE TO PLANT TREE MEMORIALS TO HONOUR WAR VETERANS Sheffield City Council has announced it is planting 300 memorial trees and will work with residents for ideas on where they should be planted and how they should look. The memorial trees will honour veterans from Sheffield who lost their lives in conflict and be planted in parks across the city. The council has also made a commitment to ensure these trees remain, in perpetuity. Cabinet member for Culture, Parks & Leisure at Sheffield City Council, Councillor Mary Lea said: “We are delighted to announce that the Council will create a

brand new memorial site in the city’s parks, consisting of around 300 trees, to remember all those from Sheffield who sadly lost their lives in conflict. “In addition, we’re making a commitment to ensure these new trees remain, in their entirety, so that future generations will be aware of the sacrifice of others for many years to come. “Currently, there are just under 300 registered memorial trees planted in the city and through this new project, we want to replicate this number in parks by providing a fitting and long-lasting new memorial, where

people can gather to pay their respects and remember the fallen in a peaceful and serene environment. We’re inviting the people of Sheffield to support us in this exciting new project by sending in their ideas for the new sites, which we hope to memorialise in 2018, to commemorate the 100 year centenary of the First World War. “The memorial will provide an accessible tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country and will offer a quiet alternative to those memorials that are located on busy streets or hard to reach areas.” The scheme has also

received the backing of the Royal British Legion, County President, Robert Mortimer who said: “We are proud to support Sheffield City Council in the planting of these trees. Memorial trees planted in parks offer

1232 20/09/2017 LOVE FOOD? SHARE YOUR CUT YOUR BILLS Age Better in Sheffield is starting a new project which will bring people together around food. Sharing food creates the perfect opportunity to shares stories and recipes, and to connect with members of your community. We know, from the people aged 50 and over that we work with at Age Better in Sheffield, that mealtimes can be especially lonely. So, we need you to make a little extra, and dish out a delicious extra portion. Our new project asks volunteers to take a spare plate of their dinner to beneficiaries’ houses, and to eat together with them. We are also setting up community cooking sessions in the evening for people to learn new skills and get together over a tasty treat! This project will start in the next couple of weeks, and we’re looking for volunteers and participants to get involved straight away. If sharing something to eat is right up your street, get in touch! Just contact Sophia on care@syha.co.uk, call Age Better in Sheffield on 0114 2900 250, or contact us on www.agebettersheff.co.uk. We’d love to have you on board. To whet your appetite, we thought we’d share a tasty recipe from the Community Lunch group in Lowedges, who help us to co-design our latest Age Better in Sheffield Neighbourhood Toolkit. Courgette, Potato & Cheddar Soup Serves 4 Ingredients 250g potato, unpeeled and roughly chopped 1 vegetable stock cube 500g courgettes, roughly chopped 3 spring onions, sliced 50g extra-mature cheddar, grated, plus a little extra to serve Method Put the potatoes in a large pan with just enough water to cover them and crumble in the stock cube. Bring to the boil, then cover and cook for 5 mins. Add the courgettes, put the lid back on and cook for 5 mins more. Throw in the spring onions, cover and cook for a final 5 minutes. Take off the heat, then stir in the cheese and season with the nutmeg, salt and pepper. Blend to a thick soup, adding more hot water until you get the consistency you like. Serve scattered with extra grated cheddar, spring onions and nutmeg or pepper.

STORIES

For the first time in our history, Age Better in Sheffield has teamed up with renowned theatre company Cardboard Citizens. Together, we are creating a collaborative performance that has never been seen in Sheffield before! With over 25 years of experience, Cardboard Citizens produces life-changing theatre that makes a real and positive difference to society. Renowned for their Forum Theatre and storytelling expertise, Cardboard Citizens encourage communities to come together, raising awareness, and finding solutions to the challenges we face in our lives. Over the past few months a team of Age Better volunteers have been chatting with older people across the city. They’ve been finding out what life was like in Sheffield 50 years ago, how it compares to life today, and what things our older communities would change if they were in charge. It’s these very voices that will form the entire performance, as individuals’ stories are re-told in an imaginative and exciting way. We’re looking for a few extra people to help bring the performances to life, so if you would like to take part or know anyone else who might then please get in touch with michael@ cardboardcitizens.org.uk The play is being performed in Sheffield at Theatre Deli’s brand new venue at 7:30pm on the 26th and 27th of October. An afternoon performance will take place on Thursday 26th at a venue TBC. Ticket prices will be a ‘pay as you feel’ approach and you can reserve a ticket in advance, or buy on the door. If you’d like to attend one of the showings but don’t have transport then please get in touch with us on 01142900250.

Recently Britain’s biggest energy supplier, British Gas, increased its electricity prices by 12.5% in a move affecting 3.1 million customers. The increase means the average annual dual-fuel bill for their customers will rise by 7.3%, or £76, to £1,120. According to uSwitch, at least 10% of people who switched energy supplier for both gas and electricity between June and November 2016 saved £618 or more.

How to save electricity and gas and cut your energy bills. •Switch energy supplier: save £237 If you haven’t switched your energy supplier in the last three years, there’s a good chance you could save money. •Turn down your thermostat. Reducing room temperatures by just 1ºC can cut heating bills by up to £85 a year in a typical home, so put on a jumper instead. •Replace light bulbs: Energy-saving light bulbs can help you cut your energy bills easily. An LED light bulb costs around £1.71 to run per year. Over its lifetime, it could cut up to £180 from your energy bills, compared with an old-style bulb. Remember, energy-saving light bulbs do last longer than traditional ones. •Cut draughts. Stopping heat from escaping through unwanted gaps could help you save up to £50 a year. •Choose energy-efficient appliances. If you’re replacing an appliance, you can cut your electricity bills by choosing the most energy-efficient model. For example, running costs for washing machines vary between £20 and £100 per year. •Get a new boiler: Replacing an old G-rated gas boiler which has no controls with a new condensing model, including a programmer, could trim up to £652 a year from the gas bill of a typical home. •Home insulation. Insulating both your loft and cavity walls can save you up to £315. Laying loft insulation to a thickness of 270mm in a typical non-insulated three-bedroom semi could trim £175 a year from energy bills, as less heat will be lost through the roof. Insulating cavity walls can save around £140 a year. Solidwall insulation, although more expensive to fit, could save you £260 in the same type of house. •Keep your energy bill under control. Paying your energy bill through direct debit means you spread your energy costs over the year and avoid big winter bills. Checking your meter will keep your bill as accurate as possible.

A new generation of entrepreneurs are invited to free events at a Sheffield libraries’ business advice centre on Thursday, 21 September. Sheffield’s Business and Intellectual Property Centre, based in the Central Library, is linking with other British Library Business and IP Centres for a National Start-up day to support budding business men and women. Thousands of entrepreneurs and businesses have attended free information and advice sessions at the Central Library, since the specialist centre opened in January 2015. On Thursday 21 September, sessions include: top tips when starting a business, researching your market and building a social media strategy. An inspirational talk will be given by Sheffield based business mentor and coach, Dawn Bates. There will also be speakers from the Google Digital Garage and a networking event to close the day. Isabel Oswell, Head of Business and Research Audiences at the British Library, said “Following the success of our inaugural Start-up Day last year, we’re delighted to launch another inspiring and informative day of events in city libraries across the country with some of the industry’s key ‘movers and shakers’. For those people out there who have a business idea but aren’t sure what steps to take next, Start-up Day is a great place to begin”. All events on the 21 September are free. People are advised to book places online or at Sheffield’s Central Library. Sheffield’s Business & IP Centre adds to the wealth of business support already provided by Sheffield City Council. If you’re very clear about what you want to achieve with a career matter, you could take a giant stride forwards. AND FINALLY... PHIL COLLINS PAY TRIBUTE TO SINGING LEGEND AS THEY CELEBRATE 10 YEARS OF PERFORMING The band established as the UK’s Number One Tribute to Phil Collins, are set to commemorate a decade of performing with their ‘10th Anniversary Tour’ at the Penistone Paramount. The two-time winners at The National Tribute Awards as the best in their field, And Finally... Phil Collins boasts a two-drummer line up which is ‘an integral part of the act with stunning vocals, vibrant choreography and a huge variety of songs’. The

band recreate all the classic hits from the Grammy award-winner’s solo career and his work in the rock band Genesis. The 10 strong band were praised by Phil Collins himself, saying “this is great stuff” after a DVD of their latest work was sent to him, keeping the disc he sent the message “good luck” on the insert sleeve. And Finally… Phil Collins have just returned from their first French tour, one of the venues being the notable La Cigale in Paris where Adele, Eric Clapton, Muse, Slash, Prince, Miles Davis, David Bowie and Led Zeppelin have all played. In 2017, they present a brand new show, which is even closer to an original Phil Collins production. Each member performs with passion and dedication, an infectious quality which will provide a guaranteed evening of dynamic entertainment at the Penistone Paramount on Thursday 28th September. Tickets priced at £19.50 are available from the Penistone Paramount Box Office 01226 767532 or on-line www.penistoneparamount.co.uk

COMMUNITY FEARS PUB WILL BE LOST TO DEVELOPERS Members of the local campaign to save the Plough in Sandygate are concerned that the pub’s owners, Enterprise Inns have sold the pub for development use. This means that it could be converted into apartments although planning permission would be required. Earlier in the summer, the group commissioned an independent valuation of the pub and submitted a bid of £435,000 in August. However, Enterprise Inns stated that they had received a significantly higher bid. ‘We feel our bid was a fair and reasonable one based on an independent valuation’ says Peter Duff, Director of the Plough Community Benefit Society, ‘and we were not willing to be drawn into a bidding war’ The group now fears that a developer has purchased the pub and will attempt to change its use. However, the pub is listed an Asset of Community Value which means planning permission would be required for any change of use. ‘The pub is listed as an Asset of Community Value until 2020’, says Peter Duff, ‘this provides some protection from development but we know that elsewhere in the country, developers have tried to work around the planning laws’ The group have stated they would be willing to work with another operator who intends to continue to operate the Plough as a public house. They are equally determined to oppose any plan to convert the pub into residential use. ‘We’d like to remind any developers’ says Peter Duff, ‘that the Plough is listed as an ACV until 2020 and that it can also be listed for another five years at that point. It will be very difficult for anyone to secure change of use given that a similar proposal from Sainsbury’s was unanimously rejected by the local authority in January’ The group are calling on Sheffield City Council

to ensure that current planning protections for the pub are enforced and to deter any developer from attempting to circumvent the law through the back door. ‘Sometimes, developers can change the use of a building by stealth, carrying out works which do not require planning permission but which damage the fabric of the pub’ states Peter Duff However, the group point out that this can backfire on developers as it did with the Carlton Tavern in Maida Vale which was unlawfully demolished. The local authority ordered the developer to rebuild the pub brick by brick.

After an hour of fun ‘bit-bashing’, I returned to the ‘tip, and happily, continued where I’d left off, with a bream almost every cast! I fished for around 6 hours, steadily catching throughout, and when it came to lift my nets an hour before I finished, they were almost too heavy to shift! I knew I’d caught well, but there must have been a good seventy pounds of fish spread between them, almost all bream of between two and four pounds, with a single perch (obviously!) and a few roach and rudd. I hadn’t put every fish in the net either, preferring to return smaller fish straight away, so my total was certainly more. Martin had also caught well, as had his chum who turned up later, and I have to say that I enjoyed my day immensely, making a couple of new friends, and catching plenty of quality fish; best of all, at just £5 for two rods (although I only used a single wand) it was super value for money too! We’ve worked all week on how to stop crosses into the box and they scored in the middle of our goal which was massively disappointing. “I thought the lads kept to it although we were a little direct at times. We threw the kitchen sink at the end but it was not enough today.”

WARNE FRUSTRATED Millers chief Paul Warne believed his side were worthy of a share of the spoils as they fell to a narrow defeat at the hands of White Rose rivals Bradford City. Romain Vincelot’s first-half header turned the tight affair in the Bantams favour despite the Millers penning the hosts deep into their half, for long periods of the Valley Parade clash. Speaking to the assembled press corps afterwards, Warne bemoaned his side’s lack of luck in front of goal, in West Yorkshire. “It’s a reaction of disappointment,” Warne admitted. “I thought we were more than good enough for a point. I did not think that apart from the goal and the one cleared from the line that they ripped us apart. “We had one cleared from the line as well and Frecks had a shot blocked. Their keeper (Colin Doyle) was outstanding.” In the aftermath of Vincelot’s opener, the Millers almost got themselves back on level terms when Doyle denied Jon Taylor initially before former Leeds defender Matthew Kilgallon came to the home side’s rescue with a miraculous goal line clearance from Taylor’s followup with Kieffer Moore lurking for a tap-in. With chances few and far between in a feisty

Week five in the County Senior League was once again a busy one, with 18 fixtures taking place on Saturday across the leagues’ three divisions. Premier Division League leaders Penistone Church Reserves suffered their first defeat of the season on Saturday, as they lost 3-1 away against South Kirkby Colliery. South Kirkby’s third win in four games takes them into third place, Penistone remain top of the table. Grimethorpe Sports 100% start to the season continued, as they edged-out Frecheville 2-1 at Davy Sports Club. Grimethorpe are up to third place. Millmoor Juniors’ had their first win of the season last time out, but they could not build on it this week, as they fell to a heavy 16-1 loss to Oughtibridge WMFC. Wombwell Main heaped more woe on struggling Denaby Main, as they beat them 5-1 at the UPVC Trade Centre Ground. Denaby remain pointless after four games. Handworth Parramore Reserves claimed their first win of the season, with a hard-fought 4-3 victory

MILLERS CLUB STATEMENT Rotherham United have been made aware of an allegation of racial abuse towards one of our players from a home area of the ground after the game against Bradford City at the weekend. Like ourselves, our friends at Bradford City do not tolerate any form of discrimination, and as such we have been informed that the allegation has been passed onto the Police and is now under investigation. Rotherham United operate a zero tolerance policy on discrimination of any kind, and will fully assist with any ongoing investigation into the incident.

encounter, Warne was disappointed with the manner of Bradford’s winning goal, in a game which saw the Millers’ recent three match winning run come to an end. “It was a scrappy Yorkshire derby,” Warne added. “It was exciting for the neutral especially. I thought we should have come away with a point. There were not too many blatantly clear cut chances. There was a lot of fight and a lot of scraps, a typically Yorkshire derby in that respect. “I’ve said to the lads when we go away. People have got a lot of respect for how we play and we cannot afford to start the game like that.

over fourth placed Denaby United. Elsewhere, Stocksbridge Park Steels Reserves were impressive 4-0 victors against Jubilee Sports at the Look Local Stadium. Division One Dodworth Miners Welfare made it five wins from five played, with an emphatic 8-1 away win over Stocksbridge Park Steels Development. Dodworth have played the most games in the division, but they do lead the way by eight points at this early stage. Sheffield Bankers are still also 100% after a second successive victory, this time they beat Silkstone United 6-1 at Warminster Road. Rob Jerrison starred for the Bankers, scoring a hat-trick. Joe Jerrison, Sam Dean and Joe Robinson were also on target. Kiveton Park’s first ever home game at Wales High School ended in defeat, as they fell 4-2 against Hepworth United. AFC Dronfield won for the first time this season, at the fourth attempt, as they beat Wickersley 7-1 at Wickersley School. Ecclesfield Red Rose 1915 made it consecutive 3-2 home wins, as they beat High Green Villa by that scoreline on Saturday, moving themselves into a mid-table position.

Division Two Boynton Sports’ 100% start came to an end on Saturday, but they remain undefeated, as they drew 2-2 at Concord Park. Second placed Wombwell Main Development found themselves in the game of the day against Sheffield Bankers Reserves at Warminster Road. Goals from James Oyesola (3), Phil Sharpe and Jack Price (2) settled an 11 goal thriller 6-5 in the Bankers’ favour. Wombwell remain in second place, with the Bankers up to third. Burngreave FC moved into fourth place in the table, after a 2-0 away win over Thurcroft Miners Institute. Thurcroft remain winless after five games. Worsbrough Bridge Athletic Development stretched their unbeaten run to three games, with a 3-1 away win over New Bohemians. The win takes Worsbrough up to fifth in fledgling standings. AFC Dronfield Reserves scored four goals at home for second time in less than a fortnight, as they beat Manor Hotel 4-0 on Saturday. Caribbean Sports Reserves claimed their first win of the season in fine style, as they beat North Gawber Colliery Reserves 8-2 at the Firvale Academy. Swinton Athletic Reserves also were victorious for the first time this term, as they saw off South Kirkby Colliery Reserves 3-1 at Swinton Miners Welfare.

CONCENTRATION IS KEY - DF BLAIR CALLS FOR FOCUS Darren Ferguson felt Rovers were unlucky to lose against local rivals Scunthorpe United. Lee Novak’s 10th minute header was enough to earn the Iron the win, but Ferguson says that his side had the better chances throughout the game. “The game was like many others this season, very frustrating and another game which we feel we should have got something out of,” he said. “It’s a disappointing day for us and for the fans as well, as losing a derby match is always tough to take. The concentration for us is key, we lost it for the set-piece where we conceded and then didn’t concentrate enough when we had chances to equalise in the second half.”

Rovers have failed to score in five of their opening eight league games this season, and the manager says that is something he is keen to address with three games coming up in the next eight days. “We’ve only scored in the first half in one game this season and that is something that needs addressing quickly, we keep going behind and giving teams something to hold on to,” he added. “We’ve got to start scoring the first goal as we’re a good team on the counter attack, if teams start pushing when we’re winning the game then it would play into our hands. “I have to make a decision in terms of how I manage the squad, the Plymouth game is a must win for us so I have to balance things out.”

Midfielder Matty Blair calls for focus after narrowly losing 1-0 to Scunthorpe United in Sky Bet League One. The Iron ran out with all three points courtesy of a 10th minute Lee Novak header, but Blair says a lapse in concentration ultimately cost Rovers in the end. “We have all spoken in the dressing room and the one word that we have all come away with and said that we did not have was concentration, and the gaffer is spot on, we switched off for the corner,” said Blair. “Everyone is extremely frustrated because it was such a 50/50 game, we limited a team like Scunthorpe to two chances in the whole game but we have come away with nothing. “But when we were on top we were the better side, and I think we deserved a little bit more out of the game but they are a very good side and we have to cut out our mistakes.” Rovers face Premier League side Arsenal in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, but Blair says that the side have one eye on the next league game against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.

“The Arsenal game is a game that the players, fans, the staff and everyone associated at the football club can go and enjoy, and play against one of the best teams in the country,” said Blair. “The gaffer has said that the game against Plymouth is more important than the game against Arsenal and he is spot on with that, we will enjoy Wednesday as best as we can but we have an eye on Plymouth. “If you offered us a scrappy 1-0 with against Plymouth deflecting in off a few people, we would take it no doubt about it, it’s a case of us going there and being professional and doing our job.”

BLADES LOSE OUT TO CANARIES United suffered a first home league defeat since January, facing a wellorganised Norwich City team. Yanic Wildschut scored the only goal, in the first half and despite the Blades hammering the door, there was no way through for Chris Wilder’s side. Brooks made his first league start, he was thrust into the action as boss Wilder contended with a striker shortage. With Lavery, Hanson and Donaldson all injured, it was a blow that Sharp and Clarke missed out after picking up injuries in midweek. Evans started a league game for the first time since returning to the club, whilst Basham, who made his 150th start in a Blades shirt, Freeman and Stevens returned. From the game’s first corner, on two minutes, United registered a chance. Coutts, captain in the absence of Sharp, delivered and O’Connell nodded back into the danger area but a header from Evans was

plucked out of the air by goalkeeper Gunn. Norwich’s first assault on the Blades goal followed within a minute but Jerome could only find the side-netting following Murphy’s run. Murphy’s pace caused United problems when he took advantage of a slack Basham touch but Wright tidied up. Soon after Wright’s misplaced pass saw O’Connell help out, blocking from Wildschut. Brooks was a lively outlet for United, he beat Trybull but Gunn was quickly off his line to save and then the young midfielder chased down a Coutts pass and presented a chance for Evans, but Zimmermann slid in to clear. The game was endto-end but that did not work out in United’s favour on 23 minutes. A simple pass down the right channel by Maddison resulted in WILDSCHUT firing across Blackman and into the Kop goal. A first-time sidefoot by Coutts and a Duffy free-kick saw the Blades positive in response to the

goal, whilst Evans and Brooks both had efforts blocked in the same move as the home side looked to mount a spell of pressure leading up to half-time. It continued right up until the break and in the one minute of added time there was an appeal for a penalty following a tackle on Coutts and a Freeman shot, which Gunn smothered. Early in the second half Fleck tried his luck from 30 yards but Gunn saved and held and the pace from the visitors in wide areas was always a threat. Wildschut’s run was ended when Wright blocked but the ball broke to Murphy, who forced a save from Blackman. With Blades fans feeling aggrieved at a number of decisions not going the way of the home side, the volume was turned up somewhat, especially when referee Duncan removed Wilder from the technical area. The officials were upset that the manager had gone into the opposition’s technical area to return the ball!

Two changes in a minute saw Carruthers and Thomas introduced and the Blades remained on the attack, Norwich slowing down proceedings at every opportunity. As the final ten minutes approached Maddison fired straight at Blackman and Fleck was off target for the

• Supporters injured in a number of incidents • Objects thrown onto the pitch • High profile Norwich officials threatened and abused In a clear move to deal with the troublemakers, the Board of Sheffield United FC issued a strongly worded statement: “We simply will not tolerate the unsportsmanlike and illegal conduct of a few to spoil things for the large majority who come along to simply watch and enjoy a football game on a Saturday afternoon. At Bramall Lane family values are paramount. “Violence in any form is unacceptable at Bramall Lane. The club invests significant sums and management time in assuring the safety of our fans and guests and we shall redouble our efforts to ensure that no supporters are injured and no attendees are obnoxious or abusive towards the directors and officials of our fans and guests, such as Norwich.

amount of stoppages and the pace of the restarts. United were continually on the attack but Brooks fired over and it was all the home side could muster despite a spirited attempt - as emphasised by the ovation the Blades players received at full-time.

“WE WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS”

That is the clear and unequivocal message from the Board of Sheffield United Football Club today after the Championship fixture with Norwich City was tarnished and marred by a small group of Blades fans. The Blades are liaising with counterparts at the Norfolk club and South Yorkshire Police after incidents during and after the match, which saw:

We’d like to assure our fans and supporters that the staff and management of Sheffield United, in co-operation with South Yorkshire Police, will make every effort to assure a safe environment for the derby at the weekend. “To a degree all in football expect good natured comments at a game - it is part of the culture of football. Enthusiasm, however, can never be an excuse for violence. We are working with the police in coordinating a root and branch approach to identify those supporters who are tarnishing the name of Sheffield United and putting football in a very poor light. “At a time when we are aiming to have fewer security-related incidents, these individuals seem concerned only with their selfish desire to ruin the wonderful Bramall Lane experience for everyone else. “We want this element removed from our support so if that means other fans reporting incidents of unacceptable behaviour then let us

know. We will issue life bans and impose other tough measures to deal with these fans.” Sheffield United have already banned seven individuals this season, including two from Saturday’s game - a 22-year-old and a 39year-old have both been charged by police since the weekend and their Kop season tickets have already been annulled. Further South Yorkshire Police investigations are ongoing and Sheffield United’s CCTV footage is being used to support the attempts to bring offenders to justice. Additionally, the club is continuing to work with Cleveland Police following the August fixture at Middlesbrough. Sheffield United have been reported to the Football Association following Saturday’s game and the club could face sanctions, including financial penalties. Supporters wishing to confidentially report any incident can do so by contacting the club at info@sufc.co.uk
