RITA ORA TAKES TO THE STAGE AT DONCASTER RACECOURE THIS SUMMER Doncaster Racecourse have recently announced that global icon Rita Ora plays Doncaster Racecourse on Saturday 29th June. Since her rise to prominence in 2012 she’s sold a staggering seven million singles, had 13 top ten hits and recorded a number one platinumselling debut album with Ora. Number-one singles Hot Right Now and How

We Do (Party) established her as a household name and kept her atop the UK charts. Her arrival was so impactful that she became the artist with the most number-one singles on the UK singles chart that year, with three consecutive releases reaching the top position. It has been an exciting time for Rita, with the success of her platinum-selling album

Phoenix released last year, breaking music records. The first single from the album ‘Let Me Love You’, became her thirteenth top 10 single, setting a new UK chart record for the most top 10 singles by a British Female Artist. Her popularity continues to grow, with seven million single sales altogether, as well as billion spotify streams worldwide from

her latest five singles alone. She has also been recognised within the industry, with 5 BRIT award nominations under her belt. Executive Director of Doncaster Racecourse, Russell Smith, commented, “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Rita Ora to Doncaster on Saturday 29th June. Having a global icon and one of the

country’s most popular artists is sure to blow our customers away with a live performance that matches her worldwide reputation. All of our music acts have been received really positively this year with bumper crowds expected. We expect Rita to be exactly the same and are anticipating a sellout crowd so would encourage customers to book sooner, rather than later.” Tickets are now on General sale and are available from www. doncaster-racecourse. co.uk.

RECORD NUMBERS MAKE EASTER EGG RUN A ROARING SUCCESS FOR SHEFFIELD CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL Glorious sunshine ensured more than 650 bikers roared through Sheffield in the 20th Easter Egg Run for Sheffield Children’s Hospital, bringing chocolate eggs, cuddly

toys and craft kits to grateful young patients. The long procession of Egg Run riders began their route at the South Yorkshire Police Operations Centre, taking over the streets of

Sheffield before greeting crowds of supporters gathered at the Weston Park finish line. It was led by two-time World Superbike Champion and patron of The Children’s Hospital Charity, James Toseland. After greeting fans in the park, James alongside Michael Peat, the organiser of the Egg Run distributed gifts throughout the wards. In total, the Egg Run has now raised over £70,000

for Sheffield Children’s Hospital. James said: “We have seen it grow from just twenty bikes to the huge event it is today, it’s a fantastic event to be involved with. As enjoyable as the ride was, it’s all about the patients in the hospital. Hopefully we’ve been able to bring a smile to a few of their faces on the wards today. “I’m really thankful everyone who came down today and supported

The Children’s Hospital Charity in their work. It is always a privilege to see the difference the fundraising makes.” The Egg Run would not have been possible without the work of groups and associations including: South Yorkshire Police, Sheffield City Council, Red Knights, Blue Knights, Motorcycle Action Group, Safer Roads Partnership, South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue, Sheffield Advanced Motorcyclists and Rotherham Advanced Motorcyclists. ladies “less likely” to where there’s a will... recognise heart attack If you want to be able to ensure that your loved ones receive the things you have chosen for them after you pass away, you need to set aside the time to write your will. A will can dictate who will receive your prized possessions, what will happen to any investments you have and how your estate will be managed. Without one, you could be leaving your descendants and family members unsure of how to deal with your assets after your death. Getting started While writing a will sounds like it’s a complicated process, it can actually be very straightforward. The most important thing is to make sure that your will fits the acceptable legal format and it is formally witnessed and signed. Provided you don’t have any complicating circumstances, you can easily write your own will with some guidance from Gov.uk. Otherwise, you might be better getting advice from a legal professional such as a solicitor. When deciding what to put in your will, you should start be making an inventory of all of your money and possessions. Next, you will need to decide who you’d like to benefit from your will and what you’d like your beneficiaries to have. Your will should also identify your executors, these are the people you have nominated to carry out the will. When you might need professional help Many people decide to employ a solicitor to help them with the finer details of writing a will. It’s an especially good idea to turn to a professional if your will isn’t completely straightforward. If you have estates valued at over £325,000, you will be liable for inheritance tax. This can be complicated and a solicitor will be able to help you make the most effective choices and ensure you follow the law correctly. However, there are some

common pitfalls that could render your Will legally void. The 3 most common pitfalls are: 1. You made changes to your Will after it has been signed and witnessed You can make changes to your Will once it has been written, signed and witnessed. However, if your situation changes and you want to make a change to your Will, you need to do so with what is called a Codicil. Each Codicil will need to be signed and witnessed, just like the original Will. Sometimes if major changes are needed, it is advisable to create a new Will. 2. You have named beneficiaries and executors vaguely or incorrectly Your beneficiaries are those who will inherit according to your Will, executors are those making sure it is carried out according to your wishes. It is important to use their full name and gender in your Will and state their relationship to you, so that they can be identified after your death. Sometimes beneficiaries or executors named in a Will have since passed, so it is important to keep your Will up to date and to provide alternatives in case of death. 3. Your Will is not witnessed or signed correctly Make sure your Will is dated and signed by you and 2 witnesses in the following way: a) Date and sign your Will with both witnesses present b) Both witnesses sign your Will with you present Your witnesses are not allowed to benefit from your Will and cannot be married to a beneficiary. You and both of your Witnesses must be in the same room (in sight of the Will) during the entire signing process. Finally, inform your relatives and executors about your Will.

Unless you’ve experienced one firsthand, most of our knowledge of heart attacks comes from the movies. Not only is this unlikely to be a medically accurate depiction, but chances are it also misses a key detail: Men and women broadly experience heart attacks differently. Twitter user geewheezie has gone viral after tweeting about exactly this. For many, it’s shocking because they didn’t realise women are less likely to experience “common” symptoms of heart attack, like chest pains. I want to warn women our heart attacks feel different. Last Sunday I had a heart attack. I had a 95% block in my left anterior descending artery. I’m alive because I called 911. I never had chest pain. It wasn’t what you read in pamphlets. I had it off & on for weeks. I’m a nurse. I’m an older woman. I had been spending the week helping my neighbor clean out her barn, I thought I strained some muscles. I took Motrin & put a warm pack on my shoulders, I almost died because I didn’t call it chest pain. She shares her harrowing experience of a heart attack – not recognising the warning signs and being lucky to have survived. This has really struck a chord with many, as we realise we know far too little about the condition. Do not attempt to drive yourself or others to the hospital due to the high risk of sudden irregular heartbeats. This is important as only an ambulance will be equipped to revive you if your heart were to suddenly stop beating.” He also urges women not to downplay their pain, and get help the second they suspect something might be wrong. “Paramedics would rather be called out to find you have made an honest mistake than for it to be too late to save a person’s life,” he says.

MUM’S THE WORD AS THE PUD STORE COMES TO CRYSTAL PEAKS MUM’S the word for entrepreneur Frances Bishop as she brings her revolutionary approach to children’s fashion retail to Crystal Peaks. The 28-year-old businesswomen - best known for her appearance in the twelfth season of BBC hit The Apprentice - is the founder of discount children’s fashion outlet The Pud Store. The business was launched in 2015 and the company’s arrival at award winning Sheffield shopping centre Crystal Peaks follows successful openings in Doncaster, Newark and Mansfield. And she says that Pud’s insistence on a traditional approach to shopping - the company has no website but spreads the word through a hugely popular Facebook page - proves there is a real future for retail. “We’re not flouncy, we’re not snooty, we’re an up front business selling a fantastic range of end of season, last season and bankrupt stock at prices every family can afford,” Frances explainsearin. “No matter what your bank balance, people want their children to look nice and that’s what the Pud approach is all about.

“I remember retail back in the day when it was still a very personal experience, where you would go into a local shop and everybody would know your name. “Somewhere along the way that seems to have gone but that’s what I want to bring back. “They say the high street is in decline but it isn’t - it’s just moving into a new era of independents and specialists, which is exactly how Pud works.” As well as selling good quality clothing at heavily discounted rates - you can pick up a pair of shoes for as little as £5 - Pud also prides itself on its level of personal attention to every visitor. “Humans are born with the need to interact - and not just to interact behind a screen,” Frances insists “Our shops are proving so popular not just because of the fantastic bargains but because we have a team who want to talk to you.” Because of the nature of the business - stock comes in and goes out very quickly - a Facebook page followed by 20,000 enthusiastic shoppers keeps fans permanently up to date with what’s available in store.

TALENT IS ENOUGH - MUSICAL THEATRE AGENCY ON THE LOOK OUT FOR FUTURE STARS SUNDAY 5TH MAY 10AM - 3PM

South Yorkshire based Musical Theatre academy are holding open auditions children ages 7 – 18 looking to attain a career in TV, film and theatre. Having built a strong network of television production companies and theatres up and down the country, current CAST Academy have enabled students to book appearances in high profile television, film and theatre shows such as Coronation street, The Voice UK and international tours such as Mary Poppins to name a few, CAST Academy are looking to expand their service offering to anyone looking to take performing arts as a career. With an unlimited amount of places available on their books, the academy is holding open auditions on the 27th April. The successful auditionees

will be enrolled into the aptly named ‘Star Team’ where they will receive next level training in acting, singing, dancing & audition technique. Included in the affordable monthly tuition, students will also receive frequent master class opportunities with industry professionals such as casting director Lee Mountjoy & Amy Ross who has recently finished reprising her role as Elphaba in the WICKED UK Tour. Above all, the successful applicants will receive free agency representation with exposure to monthly networking opportunities within the theatre and performing arts profession. Rebecca Elliott, co-founder of CAST Academy said “I believe there’s some incredible talent right here in South Yorkshire and being able to offer an assessable

route into the performing industry is a dream come true for me and my business partner Amy Parker. It’s our belief that talent is enough & if nurtured correctly the possibilities are endless. You should never have to pay for an agency to represent you that’s why we’re offering this service at no extra cost to the affordable star team tuition. Our goal ultimately is to put South Yorkshire on the map by showcasing the talent we have right here on our doorstep. To anyone looking to audition or to bring their children to audition here are my 3 top audition tips: 1. Prepare - Make sure you’re well prepared for your audition. Do your research on the audition material. Learn all your words, really understand them, and make sure that you can recite them in your sleep.

2. Don’t worry Nervous about being nervous? We know this means you care. Try our breathing technique. Breathe in for 7 seconds and out for 14. This will steady your nerves, level your head and you’ll be able to smash your audition. 3. If you’re reading this - we want to hear from you! Yes, we want to hear from people wanting a career and aspiring to be a professional, but, we also have amateur classes and if you’re interested who knows what pursuing a new hobby could lead to.” Someone who has already made the cut is 13 year old Alex Rose Wright who sensationally played the part of Jane Banks in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang international tour), “I love the Star Team lessons, they’re so much fun & I have learnt so much

already. My favourite part about being on the star team is the ongoing training and support. The teachers at CAST Academy are training me to stand out from the crowd to make sure that when I go to auditions I’m the best I can be and that I’m continually improving audition after audition. I really feel like my skills have improved leaps and bounds since I started in January ” CAST Academy always

welcomes new talent any age and any ability. Whether it be professional or just for fun they have it covered. With a growing adult cast & exciting dance classes the academy is thriving. interest… so it becomes a loss making enterprise for everyone EXCEPT the venue owner… it’s not rocket science is it? So, was this show a success? I enjoyed it, which is no marker of financial success, but all those consumers I spoke with also enjoyed it, which is encouraging. For a first effort, Bauer did a sterling job, and twinned with the show in Hampshire, it gave an opportunity for many more anglers to attend ‘The Big One’ meet their angling heroes and spend a bit of hard earned cash on new kit which had been specially discounted for the event. Everyone went home happy and that included the majority of traders I discussed things with, but will it be the same next year, or will prices rise as a result of ‘market factors’? I hope not, but an absence of some of the trades ‘big hitters’ should be noted as they perhaps seek to gauge reports and see what next year’s costs will be, and whether they can justify the expense. The angling trade and consumer only has a finite amount of money, so I’ll just have to hope no-one gets too greedy. I know one thing though, next year I’ll be taking sandwiches and a flask of tea… just in case!

WE DIDN’T DO ENOUGH TO WIN - WARNE

Rotherham United manager Paul Warne spoke to the press following Monday’s 3-1 defeat at home to Birmingham City. Warne said the result was ‘tough’ to take after showing promise in the first-half. “I thought, first half, we were excellent,” said Warne. “We needed that second goal; that was evident. At half-time, life was looking very good. I knew Millwall had lost at Aston Villa. So I said to the lads that you’ve got to ride 15 minutes at the start of the second-half but keep trying to get that second goal. “Birmingham changed their system and caused us no end of problems. They asked us some questions that we didn’t have answers for. That’s the brutal truth. I can never knock my players’ effort but we just didn’t get on any second balls at all in the second half. The game got stretched and it suited them. We got beaten up and, at the end, I have no complaints that they came away with three points.” Matt Crooks’ third goal for the Millers saw them lead 1-0 at the break, but the elusive second proved costly as the Blues scored three second-half strikes. “We weren’t trying to sit on it,” continued Warne. “We were trying to get a second before half-time and we could have been cooking. But their first goal which got them back in the game was a great strike – top corner. Unfortunately this is how this league is. You give good players opportunities and they’ll take them. That was disappointing and we just didn’t have the usual ‘va va voom’ to get ourselves back in it. We didn’t look like we had enough belief, which was disappointing, because the effort was there. “We didn’t lose the game because of the officials. We lost it because when Birmingham turned up the heat, we didn’t have the answers. “Second half they caused more problems. Jutkiewicz is probably the best target-man in the league. Him and Adams are always top of the power rankings on

MCCANN WON’T DWELL ON SUNDERLAND LOSS Grant McCann insists his side will move on quickly from Friday’s defeat at Sunderland as Rovers look to clinch a play-off spot. Rovers fell to a 2-0 defeat at the Stadium of Light, but know their future is in their own hands as they head into the final three games of the regular season. McCann said: “We haven’t got time to dwell on it and we certainly won’t get down about it, we’ve got another three tough games coming up starting on Tuesday at home to Accrington Stanley and we’ve got to respond. “I thought we were a wee bit better in the second half. Ali Crawford and Alfie May added a bit of energy for us, but in the first half the team was tentative and that surprised me a bit.”

a weekly basis. They are a formidable front two and our back four handles them pretty well but they kept asking questions all the time. “I changed the system a few times to get a foothold in the game, unfortunately it didn’t pay off. I did it for the right reasons – I wanted to win the game. “I’m disappointed now because it was a great opportunity to win a football game. I’ll be more reflective tomorrow and pick the lads back up. There’s nothing to say we can’t get four or six points from the next two. It might be enough. I’m proud of the fact that, at the start of the season we were everyone’s favourites to go down, and with two games to go we’re still fighting.”

CHAMPIONSHIP SURVIVAL MEANS AS MUCH TO ME AS ANYONE ELSE, SAYS ZAK Bristol City loanee Zak Vyner insists that the Millers’ Championship survival is just as important to him as it is those employed permanently at AESSEAL New York Stadium. The right back, who has impressed in South Yorkshire following his summer switch from Ashton Gate, has enjoyed an ongoing battle with experienced operator Billy Jones for a starting jersey and is adamant that helping Paul Warne’s side to retain their second tier status is right at the top of his priorities list, despite his permanent registration being with the Robins. The 21-year-old told www.themillers.co.uk that he has enjoyed his stint with the Millers so far and maintains that he and his teammates are keeping a positive mindset ahead of the season run-in.

29

“I’ve bought into it and I don’t think a loan could be successful if I was half-thinking that I wasn’t going to be here next season,” Vyner explained. “I want to stay up just as much as everyone else here who is here permanently. I feel like I can take that attitude into games. “I want to keep performances high for everybody and I want to do it just as much as the next lad at the club. “The idea of being relegated hasn’t once crossed any of our minds. We always feel that we have to keep the belief and the faith strong and we’re going to do it.” Vyner arrived in Rotherham on the back of a successful loan spell in the third tier with Plymouth Argyle a season previously and has been delighted by the opportunity to ply his trade in the Sky Bet Championship with the Millers this term. After a tough start to life in the second tier following a heavy opening day defeat at Brentford, the Bristol City loanee admits he feels he has come a long way in his development. “I feel like a lot of us have come a long way since that first game,” Vyner added. “For me, it’s been a successful loan. “I’ve played 30 league games now and I never would have thought that would happen this season and I’ve just got to keep building on my development and my game and hopefully I can become a better player. “I’ve had good competition with Billy and he’s a great pro, who helps me out a lot. I try and pick his brain about his career and I hope we continue that battle for the starting shirt until the end of the season.”

Now Showing Come and Enjoy All The Footy on HDTV GOOD LUCK TO THE MILLERS!!! Sunderland were the better team in the first-half and deserved their two-goal lead at the break, but an injury-time Danny Andrew free-kick which hit a post gave Rovers hope for the second 45 minutes. McCann was also frustrated that official Andy Woolmer did not give fouls when John Marquis was taken down just outside the area and Andy Butler was pulled down inside the box from a free-kick. He added: “In the first half we were nowhere near it, Sunderland deserved to be 2-0 up and maybe more - they were far better than us and our boys are disappointed because they haven’t done themselves justice and didn’t show what we were about. “Throughout the game we were a bit safe and, by that, I mean we didn’t get on the front foot and we didn’t get forward or slip people in. Sunderland set up to stop us from getting in behind, but we didn’t threaten anywhere near enough for my liking. “We didn’t get the decisions. I thought it was a penalty against Andy Butler but the referee didn’t give it and that’s the way it goes. Sometimes you need that bit of luck in a place like the Stadium of Light, but we didn’t get that.”

ROWE REVEALS PLAY-OFF BELIEF OF SQUAD Captain Tommy Rowe says there is a real belief among the Rovers players that they can secure a place in the end of season play-offs. The midfielder revealed a top-six spot has been firmly on the radar of everyone at the club since the start of pre-season - even though few people outside of the club gave Rovers much hope of being in the promotion mix. Rowe said: “Early on in the season not many people thought we could get into the play-offs, so we had to have a deep belief within the group. “It doesn’t matter who is playing, we have people who can play in all positions and we’ve got very good players on the bench who will look to take their chances. That competition has been driving us on all season. “It’s a pleasure to play in this team at this moment with the quality that we have, we work really hard and that gets us the results. We put a lot of pressure

on ourselves to improve in training and we have a belief that we can achieve big things.” Rowe and his team-mates will be looking to get back to winning ways when they host Accrington Stanley on Tuesday evening in order to bolster their play-off ambitions, while Stanley need three points so they can take another step clear of relegation. Rovers’ home form is one of the best in the league and with two home games left, that form could prove decisive. Rowe added; “It’s difficult to put your finger on why our home form has been so good. We’re comfortable at home, the fans are great and it gives you a real desire to get the performance and the win. “We’ll try and keep up our home form and pick our confidence back up after the defeat on Friday. We’ll have to come out of the blocks quickly, as we did when we went on that winning run of four games. That has been the key to our success, taking the game to teams. It’s hard to live with us when we’re at our best so hopefully we can do that against Accrington. “I’ll try and stay away from other results, but that will be difficult with most teams playing on Monday and us playing on Tuesday. It doesn’t really matter if we know other team’s results before we play, as long as we’re focused come kick off, and I’m sure we will be.”

CHANGES PAY DIVIDENDS FOR BRUCE Steve Bruce rang the changes for the Easter Monday home game with Bristol City, which paid off handsomely as the Owls ran out 2-0 winners. First half goals from

Barry Bannan and Lucas Joao were enough to see Wednesday over the line at Hillsborough. Bruce made no less than six changes from the side that drew at Norwich on Good Friday and duly reaped

the rewards. He said: “There were some tired legs out there towards the end of the second half but in the first half I thought we played exceptionally well. “We got off the bus

about three in the morning after Norwich and then we have to go again a couple of days later, it’s a big ask. “So we’re fortunate in that having a big squad it’s worked to our advantage today because we could mix it up a bit. “I gave Steven Fletcher and Liam Palmer a rest and Sam Hutchinson and Keiren Westwood will have scans this week. “I wanted to take a look at Achraf Lazaar, he’s a loan player, he came in and did well then got injured. He played well today, he tired towards the end but he wasn’t alone there.”

Bruce picked out Bannan and Cameron Dawson for eyecatching displays as Wednesday dealt a blow to City’s play-off ambitions. Bannan scored the first goal and picked out Lucas Joao for the second before Dawson produced a stunning double save late on as the visitors sought a route back into the contest. Bruce said: “Well

Bannan is some player isn’t he? He’s a terrific footballer and we’ve seen that today. “His goal was fantastic but the way he picked out Lucas for the second goal was remarkable, not many players see that pass. “Later on, we only got sloppy once and that’s when young Cameron made the double save, which for me was the highlight of the game after the goals.”

PREPARATION FOR NEXT SEASON STARTS AS PLAY OFFS LOOKS STEP TOO FAR FAN COLUMN BY CHRIS PLATTS

As soon as the referee blew for a free kick on Friday night everyone knew it was going to be a goal. It just seemed destined not to be The Owls night. Had we won then we would be sat 2 points of the Play Offs with 2 to play. Unfortunately, as we currently sit 4 points behind a Derby County side who have 3 games to play it seems

just that one step too far. Steve Bruce mentioned in his Radio Sheffield interview that he is going to sit down with the out of contract players and discuss their futures, be it at Wednesday or elsewhere. A big week in terms of how he prepares his squad for next season, especially with the financial fair play looming large over the club. So how does it look for the players involved in theses talks. Westwood has arguably played his way into gaining a new contract. But with a big wage and the emergence of Dawson and Wildsmith would his wages be better spent elsewhere? Palmer has also been in great form and is deserving of a new contract. With him being on a modest wage compared to Westwood it’s more likely he would be staying. Hooper’s return has put question marks on his future. Had he not returned then I think he would have been released. Once

again it might be more of a decision over if his wage demands and are they worth it or not. Also, with six strikers at the club he could be one for the axe. Kieran Lee will also be a tough decision. Having been out for 18 months and only just returning to training it might be too soon to be able to give him a contract. Boyd and Matias look more likely to go than stay. Although both have performed admirably in recent weeks, age and wage costs seem to be against them. Abdi, Pudil and Jones are more than certain to go and release a large chunk of money back into the wage budget. Leaving just the decision of youngsters Nielsen and Preston. With the success of the Under 18’s side this season would probably mean they will be leaving as well. Bruce has a big couple of weeks ahead of him as he prepares for a promotion push next season.

WILDER DELIGHTED WITH EASTER RETURN The Blades boss was delighted with his players following the 3-0 away win at the KCOM Stadium. Chris Wilder heaped the praise on his players following

the emphatic Easter Monday success over Hull City. A David McGoldrick brace and a third of the month for Enda Stevens saw United race into a three

goal lead by halftime at the KCOM Stadium and it was an advantage that never looked like been relinquished. And Wilder couldn’t speak higher enough

about his side postmatch, remarking: “It’s a great win for us, I’m delighted. Our ex-manager was never going to make it easy for us and they’ve got some good players at

the top of the pitch. “We had to be right at it against the likes of Campbell, Grosicki and Bowen and attitude wise we were. “Tactically we were absolutely spot on, particularly out wide and they had possession in areas that didn’t hurt us. We were clinical in front of goal and that pleased me. “The third goal is what we’re about, the right-wing back crossing for the leftwing back to head home, but we try and get them high up the pitch and Enda has found his scoring form.” Wilder added: “The attitude before the game was there, there were no shortcuts, we

needed a big weekend and we’ve had a big weekend out of the players. “There is just a desire to win games and I’m delighted for the players. Nobody will outrun my team, I won’t allow it and they all know that, they all have to put a shift in and I don’t even ask them. “That’s what I demand of them and they know, from there we try and play and Deano didn’t have a lot to do. “We defended really well and having got three goals in front we were nice and content to keep another clean sheet, but we still looked a threat and we looked a proper team.”

BLADES ONE STEP CLOSE TO AUTOMATIC SPOT AFTER HULL WIN The Blades ended the Easter weekend with a second victory after an emphatic performance across Yorkshire at Hull.

WARD NAMED MANAGER OF THE MONTH Carla Ward has been named FA Women’s Championship Manager of the Month for March, in association with the League Managers Association, who presented her with the award. Ward and her team earned the maximum nine points, with victories over Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City, moving United into 5th place in the Championship. Upon receiving her Thomas Lyte trophy, Ward remarked: “A few months ago, we

David McGoldrick netted two early goals to take his tally for the season to 15 and Enda Stevens was also on target before

set targets as to what we wanted to achieve in the final games of the season. To get nine points from nine has been excellent, and it’s a credit to the group because they’ve been outstanding. “I’m delighted to collect the award on behalf of the squad and the whole club - it is a team effort. “Hopefully we can take our March form into the remainder of the campaign.” On the Blades performance during March, Chair of the LMA panel Spacey-Cale said: “Sheffield United’s perfect month included two difficult away wins, most notably defeating title-challengers Tottenham Hotspur. “If they continue to improve in this manner

the break. Boss Wilder made two changes for the fixture. Egan and Hogan returned, whilst Stearman and Madine dropped to the bench, where they were joined by Basham. A lively start saw the sold-out away section is in full voice The first penalty box action saw Henderson push away a free-kick from Grosicki from an acute angle but the Blades were soon in the ascendency. On 10 minutes, a Fleck corner from the right saw McGOLDRICK lose his marker to

head past former United goalkeeper, Long. McGoldrick was involved in winning the ball back which saw Hogan almost get on the end of a cross by Stevens, who, moments later was on defensive duty, blocking an acrobatic Pugh effort following Grosicki’s deep cross. The Blades, though, were moments away from doubling the lead and it was a special effort. McGOLDRICK wrestled for possession 25-yards out and let fly with a

Hull hit back with a spell of pressure which included a number of Grosicki corners, but the visitors defended well and continued to look a threat at the other end of the pitch Stevens, with a rightfooter, and Hogan, had efforts blocked. A third Blades goal before the break, though, was forthcoming. On 42 minutes a deep cross from Baldock saw fellow wing-back STEVENS attack the ball with intent and his header was too powerfl for Long. The first chance of the second half came from a long Hull throw but Pugh was unable to find the target at the back post and United’s best chance of the early period after the break was Baldock’s cross evading everyone. Basham was introduced on the hour and United continued to keep Hull at arms’ length. McGoldrick continued to be a threat and fired over from 25 yards, whilst the power of Madine was added to United’s armoury. Chances were somewhat limited

in the second half, which was pleasing for the Blades. Toral curled an effort over and following a break, Bowen’s shot from Dicko’s cross was straight at Henderson. Long denied United a fourth on 80 minutes, saving with his legs from Fleck after the Scotsman linked up with McGoldrick, but the Blades looked comfortable. Hull’s final chance saw Toral’s shot hit Irvine to sum up their day as United left east Yorkshire with three more points.

Hull: Long, Lichaj, Wijs, Pugh (Toral 68), Grosicki, Irvine, Kane, Batty, Bowen, Campbell (Dicko 68), McKenzie. Unused: Marshall, Stewart, Evandro, Martin, Ridgewell. Blades: Henderson, Baldock, Stevens, Fleck, O’Connell, Hogan (Madine 71), Egan, Norwood, McGoldrick (Washington 89), Duffy (Basham 60), Cranie. Unused: Lundstram, Dowell, Stearman, Moore.
