SHEFFIELD SET FOR ANOTHER YEAR OF EXCITING EVENTS 2020 looks set to be one of the most exciting years ever in Sheffield. The council’s major events team and city partners have pulled together a hugely diverse events programme that caters for all ages, interests, cultures and abilities, providing plenty of opportunities for all to try something new and get involved in the things they love. Last year the city’s event programme generated millions of pounds being spent in the city, often with local businesses,

at local venues and on local civic services, contributing at least £19.4million to the local economy. As well as money spent in the city, events have helped create and/or support the equivalent of more than 300 jobs, and more than 5,700 people volunteered across a range of events in Sheffield. Events such as ParkRun, the Half Marathon, Let’s Ride and Cliffhanger resulted in more than 112,000 people taking part in physical activity,

many of whom have gone on to lead more active lifestyles. Sheffielders take to the streets to cycle along a traffic-free circuit Across a number of events, (including Let’s Ride, The Fringe at Tramlines, Christmas Lights Switch On, Invictus UK Trials, Sheffield 10K Road Race) hundreds of people were surveyed with over 84% saying they enjoyed or were satisfied with the events. As well as being seen by those attending,

Sheffield’s events are watched by the eyes of the world, putting the city on the map nationally and internationally. The Mi Amigo fly-past was broadcast live on BBC Breakfast reaching three million UK viewers and millions more as far as Pakistan, Australia and the USA. Sporting events including The World Snooker Championship, British Figure Skating Championships, Invictus UK Trails, British Bouldering Championships, and various national

swimming competitions have all had action and highlights featured on the BBC Live and red button racking up millions of viewers, and trending across social media. Sheffield City Council works with a range of partners to deliver they city’s event programme including Sheffield BID, SIV, Sheffield Theatres, Sheffield Hallam University, The University of Sheffield, Run for All, British Cycling, Tramlines and many others. MICHAEL’S STORY This is my third attempt at Stopping Smoking after 36 years of cigarettes !

I was only passing the Quit Stop whilst out shopping and popped in for a chat. Now 15 weeks later I am still not smoking and feeling better for it. I can now get to sleep without hearing my chest and don’t struggle to breath when walking like I used too. The staff were great and gave me some good ideas and I found them very knowledgeable. I have now got the tools I need to carry and and am so glad I popped in that day !

DONCASTER’S NEW CINEMA COMPLEX IS THE TOPS Residents and visitors will soon be enjoying a five star cinema and restaurant experience in Doncaster town centre as a major construction milestone is reached. The £8.5million Savoy cinema complex, being developed and project managed by Doncaster Council, constructed by Lindum and benefitting from Sheffield City Region Local Growth Funding (LGF) has

celebrated the roof being in place at a traditional topping out ceremony. Savoy will open its impressive six screen cinema in Spring 2020. People can preview what’s in store by trying out the luxurious reclining seats at Cast performance venue next door. There has also been strong interest in the five prime restaurant units which complete

this exciting leisure attraction. Discussions are at an advanced stage with a number of local and national operators. Ros Jones, Mayor of Doncaster, said: “The new Savoy cinema and restaurant complex is well on its way to completion which is tremendous news for Doncaster. We are committed to delivering top class attractions, facilities

and developments right across our borough for our residents and visitors to experience, enjoy and benefit from. “The new cinema is part of our fast expanding Civic and Cultural Quarter. We have already overseen the creation of Cast performance venue, the Civic Office, Sir Nigel Gresley Square and superb new homes. And with work going well on Danum

Gallery, Library and Museum and Doncaster University Technical College, the Waterdale area is coming alive. “When you consider the raft of other schemes we are delivering as part of our ambitious Urban Centre Masterplan and the key developments being built elsewhere in our borough, Doncaster is heading onwards and upwards.” Savoy Managing Director James Collington added: “Today marks a significant milestone

in the completion of our new six-screen multiplex. We’re delighted that we are now one step closer to providing the Savoy experience to the people of Doncaster. We are confident that we will be showing films here this spring and are looking forward to announcing our grand opening date very soon!” The project has benefitted from £635,000 of the

milestone. “The creation of this new cinema and leisure complex will not only create new jobs, attract investment and drive economic growth, but will also give people another reason to visit and enjoy Doncaster’s thriving town centre.”

Sheffield City Region Local Growth Funding (LGF) and once complete will create more than 100 jobs and bring new business rate income into the borough. Dan Jarvis, Mayor of the Sheffield City Region, said: “This is an exciting time for the regeneration of Doncaster town centre, and it’s great to see the new cinema complex reach this important

ALBERT SNODGRASS

It’s really hard to say what my wife does for a living. She sells sea shells on the sea shore. Hi, I’m Buzz Aldrin. Second person to step on the moon. Neil before me. My landlord says he needs to come talk to me about how high my heating bill is. I told him: “My door is always open.” The last thing my grandfather said before he died was “It’s worth it to spend money on good speakers.” That was some sound advice. Sorry sir, we don’t serve time travelers here. A time traveller walks into a bar. Don’t you just hate that situation when you’re picking up your bags at the airport, and everyone’s luggage is better than yours. Worse case scenario.

TRAVEL INSURANCE WORLDWIDE POLICIES SINGLE TRIP UP TO 99 YEARS Annual multi trip up to 85 years (inc)

0151 334 2600 don’t be a victim of telephone scammers - the top scams of 2020 CALL QUOTING ‘THE MERCURY’ People in Yorkshire are being warned of the top five phone scams to look out for in 2020 as the number of people being duped by scammers continues to rise. CPR Call Blocker, makers of the UK’s best-selling call blocking device, has compiled the list of the most active scams doing the rounds in Yorkshire and is urging people in the area to be on their guard. The five most active scams in Yorkshire at the moment are • Police scam – you may receive a call from someone claiming to be a police officer or detective who convinces you to withdraw funds and hand them over to an investigator. They may give you a fake crime number and investigation details. They also convince you not to trust bank staff. In some cases, people are asked to call 999 or 101 to verify the call is genuine but the scammers keep the line open, so you are actually talking to them. • Amazon Prime scam - you may get a call from someone claiming to be from Amazon Prime saying you’ve been charged for an annual subscription. They then tell you that fraudsters have hacked your account to authorise payment, but it can be cancelled if you press 1 and then give access to your bank account in order to undo the hack. Amazon Prime would never ask you to do this. • Bank scam - someone may call claiming to be from your bank saying there’s a problem with your card or account. They may ask for your account, card and PIN details. They may also advise transferring your money to a ‘safe’ account to protect it. A bank would never ask you to do this. • HMRC scam – you may get a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC saying there is an issue with your tax refund or an unpaid tax bill. They leave a message asking you to call back. HMRC would never contact you in this way and

ask for personal information and bank details. • Compensation scam – you receive a call to tell you that you are due compensation for a vehicle/work accident and you are then asked to provide personal details and/ or pay an admin fee to proceed. • Computer repair scam – an old one, but still very popular. Someone calls claiming to be from a well-known IT firm such as Microsoft to tell you your computer has a virus. They will ask you to download ‘anti-virus software’ which may cost but also turns out to be spyware, used to get your personal details. IT companies don’t contact customers this way. Chelsea Davies, CPR Business Development Manager, said: “Whilst online scams continue to be growing, that doesn’t mean that offline scams aren’t also on the rise. Indeed, with so many people treating their mobile phones as an extension of their body, people are more accessible by phone than ever before. Some of these scams target specific individuals, while others involve people being called at random. Some involve phishing, a type of scam in which the caller is trying to find out information (such as personal or banking information) that can be used in other crimes. We want to make people in Yorkshire aware that scammers are becoming more inventive and if something sounds too good to be true or out of the ordinary, it could well be a scam. We always strongly recommend never giving your bank details or paying or something over the phone that you’re unsure of. Especially if the call you receive is the first time you have heard of any payment that needs to be made.” If you want to stop receiving scam and nuisance calls this year, follow CPR Call Blocker’s quick three-step guide to stopping unwanted calls:

• Sign up to the Telephone Preference Service – call 0845 070 0707 or visit www.tpsonline.org.uk. • Don’t consent to being contacted – get your phone number taken off directories and look out for tick boxed on all marketing correspondence to see if ticking or unticking them will prevent your details being passed on to third parties. • Consider getting a call blocker. If you think you may be receiving scam calls, here are a few ways to protect yourself: • Don’t reveal personal details. Never give out personal or financial information such as your bank account details or PIN even if the caller claims to be from your bank. • Hang up. If you feel harassed or intimidated, end the call. You have the right not to feel pressurised. • Ring the organisation. If you’re unsure whether the caller is genuine, you can always ring the company they claim to be from. Make sure you find the number yourself and don’t use one provided by the caller. • Don’t be rushed. Scammers will try to rush you into providing personal details. They may say they have a time-limited offer or claim your bank account is at risk if you don’t give them the information they need right away. Ms Davies continued: “If you suspect you may have compromised your bank account, contact your bank or card provider as soon as possible. It is also advisable to check your bank and card statements regularly for unauthorised charges as a matter of course.” CPR Call Blocker is the best-selling and most trusted call blocker brand in the UK and is pre-programmed with thousands of known nuisance callers. The CPR suite of call blockers are available from www. cprcallblocker.com or www.amazon.co.uk or by calling 0800 652 7780.

This one of a kind arena show blends circus arts and the world of ice skating in a stunning new production that will take the audience on a journey into a whimsical frozen playground where stunning skating combined with jaw dropping acrobatic feats defy the imagination. The debut UK tour of CRYSTAL will kick off in Sheffield and will be Cirque du Soleil’s seventh visit to the FlyDSA Arena when it stops of for 4 performances 6th – 8th March 2020

performing in the venue’s intimate theatre style Steel Hall setting. Crystal is the name of a creative young woman who feels misunderstood and out of sync with environment. To escape her reality, she ventures out on a frozen pond and falls through the ice into an upside-down world. This magical show invites audiences to suspend reality and glide into a world that springs into colourful life with astonishing visual projections and an original score that seamlessly blends popular music with the signature sounds of Cirque du Soleil. Featuring a multitude of ice skating styles from extreme and freelance to figure

skating, audiences journey into the wonderful world of Crystal in a unique show that’s set to capture imaginations across the UK for the very first time. Created by Shana Carroll and Sebastien Soldevila, Crystal, our misfit heroine, takes you on an exhilarating tale of self-discovery as she dives into a world of her own imagination. Feel the adrenaline as she soars through this surreal world to become what she was always destined to be: confident, curious, and creative. CRYSTAL invites you to suspend reality and glide into a world that springs to colorful life with astounding

visual projections and a soundtrack that seamlessly blends popular music with the signature sound of Cirque du Soleil. CRYSTAL is suitable for all ages. The international cast of CRYSTAL features 43 artists, plus more than 40 crew members from 24 different countries. Cirque du Soleil

presents Crystal makes its UK premiere here in Sheffield at the FlyDSA Arena for four performances Friday 6th to Sunday 8th March 2020. Ticket prices start from £42.35 for adults & £36.47 for children (including fees) and are now on general sale from www. flydsaarena.co.uk or 0114 256 56 56.

READER COMPETITION To win a pair of tickets to this spectacular show simply send your answer to the following question along with a daytime telephone number to info@mercurynewspaper.co.uk before Wednesday 12th February. CRYSTAL feature artists and crew members from how many different countries? A) 2 B) 24 C) 124

SECOND WAVE OF ACTS ANNOUNCED FOR THIS YEAR’S DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL Download Festival, the world’s premier rock event, has announced further acts including Alter Bridge, Bowling For Soup, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Mastodon, The Distillers, Sepultura, Motionless In White and Funeral For A Friend. They’ll be joining headliners Iron Maiden (Legacy Of The Beast Tour) Kiss and System Of A Down this summer. NXT UK is returning to deliver more knockout entertainment over the weekend, and Kerrang! Radio will host Finding Fresh Blood for another year – searching for the best emerging acts in the world of rock to perform on The Avalanche Stage. The Main Stage just got even better with a host of new names which are sure to stir

the crowd into a frenzy. Alter Bridge will return with their breed of blistering and technical rock completed with incredible showmanship courtesy of Miles Kennedy. The brilliantly chaotic Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes will wreak havoc with pit-starter anthems such as ‘Juggernaut’, ‘Crowbar’ and ‘I Hate You’. Motionless In White are heavy, with a good dosage of theatrics that will no doubt fuel a memorable performance. Also performing rare Australia’s ferocious Thy Art Is Murder, rising Florida metalcorers Wage War, and melodic Brit metallers The Raven Age. Looking towards The Zippo Stage, Atlanta’s finest Mastodon have garnered a reputation as a formidable live force,

and their performance at 2020 is sure to be enormous. Fronted by the infamous Brody Dalle, The Distillers are a household name in modern punk and make their anticipated return to Donington. The Darkness are also set to bring a healthy dose of classic rock and roll bombast., Italian goth icons Lacuna Coil, melodic rockers Amaranthe, bondagepunks Hatari and rock n roll revivalists The Glorious Sons. They’ll be joined by Mississippi rock stalwarts 3 Doors Down. Download takes place on 12 - 14 June 2020 at rock’s spiritual home in Donington Park, Leicestershire. Tickets available via downloadfestival. co.uk/tickets.

If you would like to know more about phlebotomy Many people enter this profession when they are as a career or to book a place on the course visit looking for a career change or a fresh start and they often have no previous qualifications or experience in Geopace Training’s website at www.geopace.net healthcare. Phlebotomists can work part time (usually mornings) but also may choose to work full time as well as weekends, holidays and bank work. Blood samples are usually collected before mid-day and then analysed in your local hospital’s Path Lab in the afternoon. “We train people from all walks of life and all ages” explains Amy, Geopace office manager. “We’ve had school leavers, shop assistants, receptionists, beauticians and dental nurses, as well as telesales staff, unemployed and the retired who are looking for a challenge. We also have referrals from JobCentres (DWP), who can sometimes pay for your course in full if you are eligible” says Amy. Once you are on the healthcare career ladder there are often opportunities to progress into other areas, such as working in the hospital path lab or other departments. Promotion is much easier once you are “on the ladder” and have some experience behind you. Many Geopace students are now working as phlebotomists throughout the UK and a few have even chosen to work abroad where there is often a similar shortage and growing demand for this specialised

ANGLER’S CORNER

from perfect, a bright sunny day combined with the highest air pressure in years didn’t bode well, but I was there to demonstrate my with Clint Walker apparent knowledge and cast my lure gently I’ve been doing fairly well during recent into the water where I felt it settle on the lure fishing sessions and obviously post bottom. As I’ve written recently, my ‘go to’ my images on social media where they are lure is currently the Ned Rig and my buoyant lauded or criticised as appropriate by fellow orange worm-like lure was left for a few anglers. Fortunately, most of my fishing seconds to attract the attention of any nearby pictures are appreciated, and occasionally, perch. I get a message asking for advice which is I was reiterating the fact that braid needs what happened this week from an angler to be kept fairly tight during lure fishing to named Roger. Roger had been fishing the ensure contact with the lure when the rod tip same spots as me but hadn’t had so much as nodded, and I hit my first fish of the day. Pure a bite, whereas I was lucky enough to find luck on my part, having dropped the lure on plenty. After a short exchange of messages, the nose, but it couldn’t have come at a better he asked if I’d be prepared to show him time; first cast, first fish, leaving Roger hugely how I fished so he could try to replicate my impressed, and me quietly relieved… We captures… spent only an hour together as Roger’s planned I’m not keen on ‘tutorials’ which seems to be had changed after a call from a golf playing the ‘in’ thing at the moment, after all, who am chum, but during that hour, I caught several I to tell another angler that I know more than more perch on a variety of tactics all carefully he? I certainly wouldn’t dream of asking for justified to my compatriot. Unfortunately, any recompense but agreed to meet Roger at Roger still didn’t get a bite, but he did get to the local hotspot to show him my set up and use my much lighter rod to feel the difference explain how I approached my visits. I have between our tactics, and I’d like to think I gave done a couple of similar sessions with other him food for thought as we parted. I stayed on anglers in the past, once for carp and once for a few hours landing quite a few more fish deadbaiting for pike, both of which were very including a bonus pike which I’d lost three successful, so I was fairly hopeful it would be casts previously! Hopefully, Roger will have third time lucky. I arrived to find a fellow angler already fishing, taken something from our session and will be encouraged to keep trying until everything so stopped to chat whilst observing another clicks into place… angler further down the bank. It turned out to be Roger who had arrived early after changing I’ve also been on the River Dove, a favourite venue in winter, and arrived early as the his plans and after retrieving my kit from the morning mist drifted across the fields. Luckily, van, we shook hands as I explained my tackle to him. He advised that despite fishing for most my preferred swim was vacant, so I dropped my kit and proceed to catapult a few maggots of the morning, he’d had only one bite which in, then prepare some Spotted Fin Silvers had subsequently broken his tackle and a pike was the obvious suspect. Conditions were far groundbait which I intended to ball in at the

top of the swim and fish over with a maggot feeder. I was hoping for roach and chub but was quite prepared to appreciate anything which picked up the bait. I tape my feeders in winter to slow the rate at which the maggots escape, and after loading the small plastic tube, I snapped the cap on and lobbed it out to settle downstream. I love the first few seconds of the cast, watching the quivertip shudder and tremble as the feeder moves across the river bed before finding a spot to rest; anything after that is a bite, so I sat back with the customary cup of tea to wait. Within a minute, the tip dipped, and the first fish of the day kicked away downstream. It proved to be a delightful grayling, resplendent in pinks and purples and was quickly unhooked and rested in the net to recover. I topped up the swim with a trio of walnut sized balls of groundbait and another pinch of maggots, returned the feeder to the spot and watched the tip settle into a gentle curve. It soon indicated more interest, this time a flashing bite which was missed, but the bites came fairly steadily throughout the first couple of hours as the sun

tried to break through the fog around me. Out of the mist, two shapes gradually resolved into fellow anglers who dropped in above me after a short chat, both of them encouraged by watching me a further grayling as we talked. Things went a little quiet during the mid-part of my visit, with only odd fish hooked and every single one was a grayling! I changed tactics, slipping an Avon float on to cope with the fairly heavy flow but had not a bite during a fruitless hour and eventually returned to the feeder rod. Above me, only two trout had been banked so I knew the others were struggling too. I kept the bait going in and eventually the bites started to pick up once more as the sun started to sink. The two anglers I’d spoken to earlier passed by on their way home, a single grayling between them the only addition to their tally. As we chatted again, my rod tip pulled around and a feisty brown trout of perhaps some three pounds fought valiantly before succumbing to the net which proved to be my final fish of the day. I’d netted around twenty five pretty grayling and the bonus trout, and as the gloom started to envelop the surrounding fields, it was time to set off home for a shower and something to eat. I hadn’t had a single silver fish, but obviously the groundbait had made the only difference between our tactics which had pleasingly seen me have much greater success on the day; another lesson learned, but I will be back for those chub… tight lines.

WE JUST DIDN’T HAVE THAT BIT OF GUILE Rotherham United boss Paul Warne admitted his side were missing a cutting edge from their performance which saw them narrowly defeated 2-1 by Peterborough United at London Road on Saturday. Ivan Toney and Sam Szmodics fired two goals home in quick succession to give Posh a comfortable advantage before Michael Ihiekwe halved the deficit before the interval, but the Millers were unable to come from behind as a home side full of confidence

recorded three points. Speaking following the game at London Road, Warne said: “We just didn’t seem to have any guile to create something different. “When we did put crosses in we did make the keeper make saves and I thought Smudge had scored with a header that would have got back to 2-2. “I just thought that we played too ‘straight line’ and we didn’t have any guile really today. Whether that was because we were missing players I don’t know.

100% FOR THE CLUB PART OF THE Garry Monk dedicated the FA Cup win at QPR on Friday night to everyone connected with the club. The Owls have endured a testing week following the home thumping by Blackburn last time out.

But Monk saw the response he wanted in the capital with a 2-1 win and the SWFC camp can now look forward to round five of the famous old competition. He said: “That is 100% for the club. We owed everyone a performance after last

OWLS TO HOST MAN CITY Sheffield Wednesday will host Manchester City in the fifth round

U18S HELD BY FOREST The Owls Under-18s produced a muchimproved display on Saturday morning at Middlewood Road to come away with a point from the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest. After going down 4-0 against city rivals Sheffield United in the derby last week, the Under-18s responded

of the Emirates FA Cup. The draw was made

against Forest with a battling performance to earn a point. Wednesday dominated the opening half hour and had their biggest chance just two minutes into the game. A long punt forward was headed back by Declan Thompson for Alex Bonnington, who had time and space to run through on goal but placed his shot agonisingly wide. There were plenty of positives from the first 45 minutes for the home

on Monday night live on BBC One’s The One Show. Wednesday’s ball number four was first out of the hat and paired with current FA Cup holders Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s side defeated Watford 6-0 in the final at Wembley last May to claim the silverware. En route to the fifth

side but the overriding emotion at the break was one of frustration as Forest went in front just before the whistle. Wednesday were hit on the counter attack and a simple tap in saw Forest ahead at the interval. But the Owls youngsters came out for the second half determined to get back into the game and got their reward in the 67th minute. L’Varn Brandy chased what seemed a lost cause and won possession in the box before

to level the game. Wednesday face Leeds away from home next Saturday for what will be the third meeting between the two sides this season, after the league clash at Middlewood Road in October and more recently in the FA Youth Cup.

BLADES PROGRESS IN CUP 2019/20 United deservedly advanced to the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup, with professional performance against Millwall at The Den. Mo Besic opened the scoring with a curling left footed effort just after the hour, before Ollie Norwood added a second to kill off the tie with minutes remaining. For the clash against the Lions, boss Wilder made five changes from the starting XI which faced Manchester City in midweek, whilst Jack Robinson was named amongst the substitutes. After a quiet opening few minutes, both sides had a chance

within 60 seconds of each. Norwood freed Osborn down the left, he combined with Sharp and fired in a low cross, but Besic didn’t trouble Bialkowski with a left footed effort from the edge of the box. At the other end, O’Brien got the better of Jagielka and wrong-footed O’Connell, but his shot was comfortable for Henderson. The game lacked any real fluency on a difficult surface, but on 22 minutes the Blades came so close to edging in front. Basham turned 18 yards out and played in Sharp, he round Bialkowski, but Brown managed to get back

BLADES TO PLAY EITHER CARDIFF CITY OR READING THE ROUND 5 OF THE FA CUP United have been drawn away against Reading or Cardiff City in the Emirates FA Cup fifth round. Chris Wilder’s side will once again face Championship opposition after defeating Millwall 2-0 at the weekend in the fourth round. This season’s Emirates FA Cup fifth round will take place in midweek during the week

BLADES WOMEN NET MAN UNITED ‘KEEPER EMILY RAMSEY ON LOAN Sheffield United have added Manchester United goalkeeper Emily Ramsey to their squad on loan for the rest of the season. The 19-year-old arrives to bolster Carla Ward’s options between the sticks with Becky Flaherty currently out injured, joining Mollie Green in arriving from Casey Stoney’s side this month. Ramsey joined Man United in 2018 from Liverpool and made two league appearances as the team won the FA Women’s Championship, keeping clean sheets in both her games against Lewes and Millwall respectively. The England youth team international played against FA WSL side Birmingham City in the

and clear his effort off the line. As half-time approached, O’Connell was required to block Mahoney’s volley which looked to be on target, before Jagielka headed over at the back post from Norwood’s left-wing corner, with the experienced defender appealing for a penalty under pressure from a retreating defender, but referee Taylor waved away his protests. United were quickly on the front foot and gradually pinned the home side in. Robinson was close to turning home Sharp’s header down from a Norwood

cross, but in the 62nd minute the Blades hit the front. BESIC gained possession on the right, he dummied and shook off the attentions of a couple of defenders before curling home with his left foot past the despairing dive of Bialkowski. Clarke replaced Callum Robinson and Kieron Freeman was booked for apparent time wasting, before O’Connell thought he had scored a second, heading home Luke Freeman’s free-kick, but referee Taylor adjudged he had fouled his marker prior to making contact with the ball. The home side were

commencing Monday 2nd March, with any ties that are level after 90 minutes progressing to extra time and, if necessary, penalties to determine a winner on the night.

doing their best to urge the side on in a bid to force a replay, but NORWOOD fired home a fine second, rifling the ball past Bialkowski from 20 yards from Sharp’s layoff, with Osborn and Jack Robinson, who is debut, involved in the build-up. The clock was ticking down in United’s favour, but they had chances to add a third before the end. Clarke saw his effort beaten away by Bialkowski, before skipper Sharp was denied by the home stopper, but it was never going to have a major bearing on the outcome of the tie, as the Blades

marched purposefully into the hat for the fifth round.

Milwall: Bialkowski, M Wallace, Cooper, Smith (Bodvarsson 71), Ferguson (Bradshaw 71), Pearce, Molumby, Brown, Mahoney (J. Wallace 73), O’Brien, Mitchell. Blades: Henderson, O’Connell, Basham, L. Freeman (J. Robinson 81), Sharp, C. Robinson (Clarke 67), Jagielka, Norwood, K. Freeman, Osborn, Besic. Unused: Lundstram, McBurnie, Egan, Morrison, Verrips.

PARKHOUSE DEPARTS

David Parkhouse has joined League Two side Stevenage on-loan until the end of the season. The young striker, who hasn’t made a senior appearance for the Blades, moves to The Lamex Stadium Continental Cup and she could make her Blades with immediate debut against the same opponent in the FA Cup this effect. Sunday. The 21-year-old, With Emily Batty impressing in the absence of

who was an unused substitute for the Blades in the Carabao Cup tie against Hull City in August 2018, scored 11 times in nine appearances for Derry City in the League of Ireland in 2019 and has featured in the U23s for United since returning.

Flaherty at Coventry United last week, Ramsey will add further competition in goal and is looking forward to getting going with the team. “I’m really excited to get the move sorted. I’ve only heard positive things about the club and they’ve been having a really successful season so far so I’m looking forward to getting some game time to challenge myself and to work with this team for the rest of the season.” Manager Ward is also thrilled to be able to bring another quality player to the club ahead of a big second half of the season. “Emily comes with a lot of quality and already you can see she’s hungry to get going with us and show what she’s about. It’s a great move at this time for both parties.”
